Hi. My name is Nathalie (with a silent “h”) and I learned how to ride a bike just a few weeks before my 27th birthday 😌!
. @absurdly_jt: “Where’d you learn how to ride a bike?!” @smileypersonathalie: “IN VIETNAM!!!”
Vietnam will forever have a special place in my heart 🙏. I was too scared to learn how to ride a bike as a kid and an opportunity to learn as I grew older never presented itself, until our Mua Cave & Tam Coc day trip in Ninh Binh.
Part of the tour we signed up for on @tripadvisor was a scenic bike ride 😬. We couldn’t seem to find a tour that didn’t have a bike ride included in the Mua Cave & Tam Coc tour so my overly ambitious self decided I would use this opportunity to learn how to ride a bike.
When I made this promise to myself, I didn’t think we would be riding on a bumpy, muddy path in a busy part of town 😳. Nonetheless, I’m not one to break a promise so I went for it anyway. It took me almost an hour to finally find my balance and successfully ride a bike without “training wheels” 😅.
I honestly didn’t think it would happen but I desperately wanted to surprise my mom with a video of me riding a bike. I asked JT to film me in this video just in case it happens to be “the one” and told him it would be my last try🤞. As you can see, I chickened out the first attempt on camera because I was going through mud and a scooter was coming right at me — I didn’t know how to turn or stop properly 🙈!
The pressure really kicked when we realized our tour group was waiting on us to leave. I concentrated so much that I started to sweat profusely. I kept thinking about my mom and how proud she’d be of me if I did this. So, I did it!! I FREAKING LEARNED HOW TO RIDE A BIKE IN VIETNAM 😃🎉!! I was so surprised at myself and excited that I started to cry and scream like a crazy person (sound on lol).
Love and a positive perspective can go a long way. I truly believe one can overcome any obstacle with the right mindset and support system ❤️. I challenge you to try something new, scary, and exciting this week! Don’t wait. Put yourself to the test knowing it’s impossible to fail because you’ve already won by trying 🙂.
We're almost 6 weeks into our South East Asia adventure and have found ourselves at the third largest island in Thailand, Koh Chang.
Nicknamed Elephant Island, it's dense with thick jungle, white sandy beaches and 5 star resorts. It's not as popular with tourists as some of the other islands as is settled close to the Cambodian border.
We caught the sunset this evening and watched the sun fall between three deserted Islands. It's incredible how the ocean can calm you, can't wait to explore more. We're headed on a birthday snorkelling island hopping tour tomorrow.

One of the benefits of an IG account dedicated to our travels is how easy it makes it to connect with other travelers. We have had so many fellow travelers offer us advice for the places we are visiting. Visiting the Peranakan Houses, a lesser-known attraction in Singapore, was a tip from a fellow IG traveler who lives in Singapore. These houses were built by Chinese immigrants to Singapore in the Katong neighborhood of the city. After visiting the houses, we headed down the street to East Coast Park for a walk along the beach.
One year ago today I ventured into the deserts of Utah with a huge question in my heart. ⠀
Did I still want to be a doctor? ⠀
I was taking a 5 week leave of absence to “figure my whole life out” and i felt so lost. What did I want? How did I even begin to figure that out? ⠀
On the outside I had all the trappings of success. I graduated in the top 15% of my class in medical school, was in one of the country’s top 5 residency programs for OBGYN, learning from leaders in the field. ⠀
I was literally bringing life into this world on a daily basis. So why did I feel so dead inside? ⠀
Maybe because I was listening to all the noise of the outside world over my own inner voice. I did what I was “supposed to do” after college and chased after a prestigious career. I used other people’s expectations and opinions as my guide instead of my own internal compass. ⠀
And that old way wasn’t working because I felt defeated and profoundly miserable. I felt like I was being dragged along every day through a life I accidentally chose. ⠀
Something had to change. I spent the first two weeks of my leave frantically trying to figure out what to do but it wasn’t until I stepped away and cleared my mind that the real truth and insights started to rise to the surface. ⠀
I had to marinate in silence and in nature to actually listen to that voice in my gut. The voice that said “This is not your work. This is not your path.” ⠀
Y’all the world is noiiiiiisy! Between our social media and group texts and internet scrolling and netflixing and podcasting we are constantly consuming the thoughts and opinions of others. ⠀
What we really need right now is quiet. Even if it’s uncomfortable. Even if it’s terrifying. ⠀
So if this is you- if you are making an impossible decision. I urge you to step away. Sit in silence and allow your truth to come to the surface. It’s simple. And it’s not at all easy. ⠀
And if doing this work and sitting in silence sounds scary then DM me. I can help hold the space for you to uncover your own truth. I promise you there is a way to create epic clarity. . #usnationalparks#usparksandmonuments#brycecanyonnationalpark#hikeutah

A much needed ‘Sanity break’ is a must in this digital era. Some people travel to get lost, some does it for peace of mind and others to find themselves again. Whatever the reason maybe, you do you. ♥️✨ A short reminder from hugginghorizons.com 🌴
#mytravelstory#storyofmylife#nature#traveller#travel#photo#photography

I can’t get enough of this view from my room at the W Bund
Sitting in front of the window watching the rain and gloomy weather of Shanghai was such a relaxing moment and I found it beautiful
