A wild yet wonderful day spent at Spurn Bird Observatory!
As Autumn begins to set in tons of migrant birds are beginning to arrive!
The day started off with a mad rush to Beacon Ponds to see what was first identified as a Black Tern but actually turned out to be a White Winged Black Tern! Which is a bird that is usually found in Asia, Africa and Australia! So it was a massive first for me and a giant surprise!
We were then entertained but Little, and Sandwich Tern and multiple Sanderling and Dunlin.
I then got a notification to say that a Red Backed Shrike had turned up near the visitor centre. So another rush back to the car resulted in me finding a different Red Backed Shrike to what all the other birders were looking at which was awesome!😎😎😎
We then moved on to see Icterine Warbler which is basically a glorified Willow Warbler that breeds on mainland Europe and migrants to sub-saharan Africa so that was yet another life tick!!
We then moved on to see some awesome Spoonbills, Little Stint, multiple Curlew Sandpiper and Black Tailed Godwit.
It was a super awesome day and you can expect many many many photos to follow soon! 😉
