There's nothing for miles. Dyea--an abandoned gold rush ghost- town now mostly populated by grizzlies and moose--is the nearest establishment; and I use that term loosely. It's 100 miles through the Yukon to White Horse, BC (where we went because we needed socks at Wal-Mart.) It's a 6 hour ferry-ride or a one-hour rickety biplane flight back to Juneau.
3 months here in 2015 sometimes made me feel I was at the world's end. But the stories...and isnt life a culmination of our stories?...sure are worth it.
