Week 2 Game Recap:
Broncos 14 Bears 16
Broncos Players to mention
MVP: Emmanuel Sanders
Biggest Disappointment: Garett Bolles/ Refs
Most Improved: Elijah Wilkinson
News Info of the Game: Broncos fall to 0-2 for the first time since 1999
Ok most fans are still upset about how the game, was taken away from the Broncos by bad officiating, and while I have calmed down some there is plenty of things that could have avoided the unfortunate situation that was handed us instead of a win.
MVP for me was Emmanuel Sanders and while you could argue Joe Flacco could have won it, I give it to Sanders catching nearly everything thrown at him yesterday, catching 11/13 targets for 98 yards 1 TD and a 2 point conversion pass. Sanders was blanketed for good portions of the game and yet still put up excellent numbers.
Biggest let down is on Garett Bolles and the refs, Bolles collected 4 holding calls in the entire game 3 of which was in the first half, and those holding calls killed a lot of the momentum on drives and got us backed into a corner, while many are calling for a benching or cut for me I keep him in and let Munchak continue to work with him and see if they can sort out the problem. The Refs called a clean game for the most part some missed calls here and there on both teams, but a Roughing the Passer call which some reports from other analysts saying that shouldn't have been called and a failed time clock miscommunication which refs didn't see that time had completely expired before the timeout was called causing Chicago to kick a game winning field goal cost Denver the game.
Elijah Wilkinson surprised me, with how productive he was at filling in place of injured starting RT Ju'Wuan James, granted he did allow some pressure, Wilkinson played well considering having played only 1 full game starting and is still working on chemistry with the other guys on the line.
The news of the game is Denver falls to 0-2 for the first time since 1999, which was the year following John Elways retirement from football, while the season is young keep in mind we started 2-0 the last 3 seasons and missed the playoffs in each of those years, so don't be down yet, a lot of football left
• Honestly, Joe Flacco is doing great with how bad that o-line is coming along.
• Emmanuel Sanders still looks like the most underrated WR in the league.
• Royce Freeman is a beast. Lindsay had some good plays too but OC Scangarello calls the same run play for him like every time.
• Poor Garrett Bolles. As bad as he did with like 4-5 holding penalties in that game, we still have to have faith in him because he isn't going anywhere.
• Overall, the offense looked afraid throughout the entire game until the last quarter to actually start moving the ball.
• Justin Simmons balled out with a couple PDs, tkls, and a big pressure on 3rd down yesterday.
• Kareem Jackson was worth all the money but I feel like it would be WAY MORE logical to put him at CB and Will Parks at S.
• Pass rush is still non-existent. Throughout the first 2 weeks, we literally have 0 total sacks. Horrendous start to the season for a typically great pass rushing team.
• The secondary improved big time from Week 1, I'll give them that.

Some game takeaways from yesterday:
The safeties Kareem Jackson and Justin Simmons played very well and Jackson looks like he is well worth the contract.
Emmanuel Sanders and Joe Flacco have a good connection, Sanders is playing well after his torn achilles
The Broncos offensive line have to get it together, Garrett Bolles has to improve immediately or be benched.
Last though is that the offense playcalling was to conservative early on, take chances and utilize these receivers.

Let’s just talk about how this was called for roughing the passer. After this play the #Bears would go to score a field goal with 1 second left and win the game, 16-14. Honestly this refs were bad on both sides. #CHIvsDEN

Some takeaways just off the top of my head:-
The offense needs to get going earlier on. The past two games both of our touchdowns came in the fourth quarter when it was almost too late. -
I felt like we were a little too conservative on offense maybe even a little predictable. Flacco did make a lot of nice passes but his first read a lot of the time was the running back out of the backfield even if he was covered. Gotta be more aggressive. -
The holding penalties were EGREGIOUS. Bolles and Leary in particular. Something has to change. -
Emmanuel Sanders was balling all day and Simmons had a hell of a game. -
Hopefully we can fix these things before we face GB. They look good.
