Family time is an essential factor that helps to create strong bonds, love, connections, and relationship among the family members. Spending quality time with family does help in coping with challenges, instill a feeling of security, inculcate family values, fill kids with confidence, and much more. In this video my husband created a wonderful experience for our family. We drove 1 hour away from New Orleans to Baton Rouge and he surprised us with a trip to an arcade called Main Event! It was awesome!

One of the greatest joys in my life is attending Kindermusik class with my own children. 💜 Connecting with them the way I see families connect every day. Watching their eyes light up, learning what songs they love, it’s gratifying and fulfilling. #kindermusik#nolamoms#mompreneur#nolafamily#dowhatyoulove

In this SIX DAY workshop, campers explore various mixed media techniques used in the art of portraiture. The first three days focus on PHOTOGRAPHY and XEROX TRANSFER. We visit a professional photo studio and learn photography basics - including composition, lighting, exposure and texture. Campers will take portraits of themselves and their classmates in this studio setting, after which we will print these photos and play with different papers and transfer techniques to elevate their images. Xerox Transfers are made with black and white Xerox prints pressed onto watercolor paper, using a combination of shellac, gum-Arabic, a paint brush, and distilled water.
The next three days explore COLLAGE TECHNIQUE - campers will study shape, contrast, assemblage, and texture, while arranging their portrait elements. Campers can use another photo from their studio session, or can bring in photos of themselves, family members and friends to include in this second project. Through intentional use of magazine cut outs, fabric, yarn, feathers, tissue paper, tulle, watercolor, oil pastel and more, campers will bring their portraits to life. On Friday, campers will present both projects in a gallery show for family and friends! No photography experience required.
Janssens assemble!!! We had a fantastic evening as the Avenger family of superheroes last night for Halloween! Our city gives us many opportunities to come together as a family and dress up. It’s special for so many reasons. We’re making positive memories, we’re working together as a family, we get to use our collective creativity, and we’re literally displaying our bond in a very New Orleans way. As James said “these are my people.” What maybe surprising to many is that I didn’t always like costuming. When I was growing up my family didn’t take much credence in dressing up. Halloween costumes were put together on the fly and usually in a half hearted kind of manner. In a way I became kind of anti-costume for a long time because I was always disappointed with the results of these thrown together assembles. It took years of Levi’s constant pressure (in the best kind of way) and enthusiasm about dressing up for any occasion that permits it, to finally change my attitude. @waychilllife also helped by giving me an alligator pattern and some material for James’ first Halloween costume. Now the joy that my kids get from dressing up together is all I need to continue this beautiful tradition. I’ve included a trip down Halloween memory lane in this post as well. #halloweencostume#halloweeninneworleans#nolakids#nolafamily
At yesterday’s family session, I asked grandma to watch their two year old daughter and stole these two away for some romance and couples portraits.
I can’t help but imagine their daughter being fully grown and cherishing a portrait of like this of her parents together. What a treasure ♥️♥️
Pro tip: bring a family member or two along to watch the kiddos and let me take some portraits of you and your love.
This portrait honestly takes my breath away. I’m continually honored and humbled by the people I get to photograph.
I have been waiting on this day since I gave birth to my son. I never thought my children would get to meet either of my parents. My mom passed in 2012, the same year I gave birth to my son. She had a few short months with him but will never get the chance to really spoil them like I knew she would. My dad has been in prison half my life and I knew with a 25 year sentence he'd probably never get to be in my kid's life. This was one thing I could never get over, but just had to deal with. But All glory to God for giving my dad another chance. HE'S HOME!!! Thank you Lord for allowing the change in laws for non violent offenders. Thank you God for favor on my dad. My kids will now get to have their paw paw in their life and I'm ecstatic about it. With tears rolling down my eyes everytime I see this picture, I'm so happy to have my daddy home! Welcome home Da! or PAW PAW as Grey has been saying nonstop! Yall dont know how happy I am about this!
