Dead Butt Syndrome? ⤵️
👉Experiencing pain and stiffness in your buttocks caused by sitting for prolonged periods of time?

1️⃣Seated Glute Stretch
Cross one leg over the other and let the knee fall to the side. Place one hand on knee cap and apply light pressure. Apply more if you don’t feel the stretch. Hold for 10-15 seconds and repeat on the other leg.
2️⃣Seated Pigeon Stretch
Repeat the same steps as Seated Glute Stretch, but this time lean forward bending at the hips until you feel a good stretch. Hold for 10-15 seconds and repeat on the other leg.
3️⃣Standing Figure-Four Stretch
Stand up and place hands on the back of your chair. Place one leg over top of the other. Let the knee drop and bend the supporting leg. Hold for 10-15 seconds and repeat on the other leg.

I feel like before we go back to nutrition and other training posts this is important thing to talk about!⠀
What is health? ⠀
Health is not only about losing x amount of weight, sometimes when people lose weight they do it in a bad and unhealthy way (think of soup diet, Herbalife, juice+ or if someone loses weight because of anxiety, depression or due to a medical conditions). Did that weight loss make them healthier? Maybe. I don’t know…⠀
Clearly, if someone is overweight or obese weight loss will improve their physical, and possibly their pschycological health too. ⠀
But when I work with people, I look at the whole picture. I think this chart explains it what we are looking at. If I think losing weight will make your wellbeing worse I am going to tell you that. If I feel like your eating tendencies are going to the wrong direction I am going to tell you that and if needed refer you to an appropriate person. Health is not ONLY physical it has 5 other facets too!⠀

How are you REALLY feeling?⠀
In our busy, fast paced life we live our lives in auto pilot and often don’t even recognise, neglect, numb or simply hide our feelings. But we should not be. Often we don’t recognise our feelings until they become bigger mental health problems. If we would check on our mind in the same way as we check our bodies we would understand ourselves a lot more and understand that our feeling come and go. Understand how to let go the fear and how to take ownership of our mental state again.⠀ ⠀
One thing I found very useful to do every day is meditation. I know EXACTLY what you are thinking, your mind wonders and you will never be able to keep still. But that is the whole point let your mind wander and then bring back your attention and trust me practise makes it better! Meditation is not a therapy but could definitely be a first step for a better mental health! If you do feel your feelings are not getting better for an extended period of time always seek professional therapist help! Talk to your GP, you can also self refer yourself to a therapist. Check CBT courses online, check out the Mind and Samaritans charity websites!⠀

Throw the myth of “correct posture” out the window. Relax, slouch as much (or as little) as you want! YA, I said it.
The key: Variety is the spice of your life 💃🏼. Change it up. It’s not so much the position we are concerned about, but the period of time in that position ⏳ (aka 8 hours of trying to sit with a straight back)!
Sit up straight, stand, sit slouched, sit on a stability ball, use the arm rests, don’t use the arm rests. Take mini breaks, move, walk, lunge, stretch. You do you 🤘🏻
