The fact you can be so deeply submerged in a rainforest and then all of the sudden be met with the coastline is one of my favorite parts about the northwest. Enveloped by magic at every turn.

Crater Lake in Oregon is one of the most unique lakes on planet Earth. The lake fills a 2,148-foot (655 m)-deep volcano caldera that was formed around 7,700 years ago by the collapse of a massive volcano called Mount Mazama (for perspective, the lake is 6 miles across!).
100% of the water you see in the lake is from rain. There are absolutely no rivers flowing into or out of the lake!
With a depth of 1,949 feet (594 m), Crater Lake is the deepest in the United States. In the world, it ranks third for average depth!

I’m grateful I grew up in a state that has so many magical places. PS I love Hot Springs and Oregon has the hook up.

Not sure I’ve ever been to a place with more state parks and cool beaches than Oregon. We spent a few days driving the whole length of the Oregon Coast, and there are all sorts of spots I would love to go back to with more time and better light.

no matter how long you travelled in the wrong direction, you can always turn around.
While Oregon has thousands of beautiful waterfalls it probably has over a million beautiful little scenes that rival even the tallest falls for just sheer magic. One of my favorite little scenes can be found off a dirt road on a popular hike that surprisingly many people walk by without a second glance. Or when they do glance it's because they see some weirdo kneeling in a creek with his bum in the air trying to get a low perspective shot. I've probably photographed this scene four times already but whenever I pass I have to stop, stare in wonder and add another photo to my collection. What about you all? Do you all have a favorite magical little scene?
