Built in honour of Crownprince Rudolph of Austria, Prague's Rudolphinum is a festive and palatial concert hall that speaks to the grandeur and majesty of this era in which it was built, the 1870s and 1880s. Errected in a graceful interpretation of the Neo-High-Renaissance, the pompous edifice of the Rudolphinum stands as one of the most beautiful and renown concert halls in the world and is a jewel of Prague's architecture. The magnificent monumental historicist work is another success of the great bohemian master architect Josef Schulz, who planned the building in 1876, and is inspired by the famous Semper Opera in Dresden by the german master architect Gottfried Semper, who was seen as europe's foremost theatre and opera architect at the time and who was working at the Ringstrasse in Vienna and its monumental buildings at the same time.
This elegant Louis XVI style canape dates from circa 1880 and is finely carved in giltwood and upholstered with wonderful Aubusson tapestry depicting scenes from Aesop’s fables.
Aesop was by tradition a labourer who was a contemporary of Croesus and Peisistratus in the mid-sixth century BC in Ancient Greece. The various collections that go under the rubric "Aesop's Fables" are still taught today as moral lessons and for centuries have been influential subject matter for artistic endeavour.

💫 Versailles, France 💫
The most beautiful Hall of Mirrors at Chateau de Versailles. It is so amazing to me that the intricate details in the former Palace of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette could be accomplished! The room pays tribute to the political, economic, and artistic success of France at this time. Mirrors were a luxury and this room has 357 in grand opulence!
