I wrote on a hiking blog earlier today looking for suggestions, but I thought maybe I should also ask all of you on Instagram so we can share the secrets of the exclusive hiking guild. That way we can all learn together. ❤ S’CUTE. When I hiked the AT, I had some cheap dry bags that were from Walmart. Cost like 20 bucks for three of them in different sizes. They were okay for a while, but then quickly kinda sucked when the water proof liner separated from the cloth bag just from friction. Good thing about the AT, is that there is a Walmart every 20 miles or so, so I eventually just got more cheap ones and they worked fine when combined with my primitive garbage bag backpack liner and ziplock bags (Ultralight filth-bag style). Now that I am on the West Coast and doing long weekend/week-long hiking sessions on the more remote PCT, I am looking for a more professional upgrade. I know there isn't as much water on the PCT as the AT, where is rains every damn day hahaha, but I still like using them to organize electronics, food, and sleeping clothes. Perhaps, having sturdy ziplocks and the primative garbage-bag liner method is the most light-weight option, but I'm tired of a rain storm being an anxiety session over my expensive phone getting wet instead of happily enjoying nature. If you have any suggestions for good dry bag products, please comment here and share your experience! I’m really interested in that weight if ya know I mean. Thank you! #at#pct#thruhiking#hike#oregon#wet#hiking#raingear#backpacking#longdistancehiking#nature#gear#drybags#hikinggear#pacificcresttrail

“From the forest came the call, distinct and definite as never before,-a long-drawn howl, like, yet unlike, any noise made by husky dog. And he knew it, in the old familiar way, as a sound heard before.” - Call of the Wild by Jack London .

Mount Hood is located about 50 mile east-southeast of Portland, on the border between Clackamas and Hood River counties. In addition to being Oregon's highest mountain, it is one of the loftiest mountains in the nation based on its prominence! •
