More shoulder 💪 and foot 👣 testing... Today...
Box jump overs
C2B pull ups
Scaled the reps down a bit to give it a test, but limit the volume. 👍
Found my jogging limit is 150m, but it's a start!
Box jump overs were fine...at a shorter height!
C2B felt fairly easy!
And no pain in push ups...on my knees...and no, technically I haven't been cleared for pressing yet. 😬
No swelling from yesterday. Hoping the same for today. 🤞

Between the gyms being closed and then my shoulder issues, this is the first time I have done anything hanging in over 8 weeks. 😬 👍Gave it a good test today without doing anything too crazy. (I wasn't planning on kipping the T2B, but it felt good, so I went with it.) And, used the super low bar 🤣 so I didn't have to jump or land hard to protect my foot 👣. No pain anywhere during, we'll see how everything feels later. 🤞
P.S. After a full week of rest (other than rehab stuff and some core), it felt great to get back to in a gym today! 😍

2011 - August.
- • Get selected to run in the Dublin 10mile for team England.
• Went into this with a slight calf sprain, caused by a change in orthotics, fitness in question.
• Husband ends up being asked to be team manager due to last minute crisis (he loved that!)
• I still ran about 56mins to finish 3rd lady and the calf held up, just.
• Warm down afterwards with @gembosteel1 I managed to turn my ankle so bad it blew up like a balloon on the flight home. Scan a few days later revealed bad ligament damage
• The rest of 2011 was written off for racing and I never made the start line of Berlin Marathon in September, which I had been offered a place and support for from @britishathletics •
2011 was not a good year, missing out at London Marathon on selection for the World Championships by 43 seconds, then the rest of the year was injury riddled. •
People only see the Success. 2011 taught me a lot, we learned hard lessons. •
Tough times happen, we must experience failure and heartbreak, disappointments and setbacks, in order to learn and grow, to become more resilient and have more wisdom. We must 'Fail Forward' to eventually succeed.

🎉Figuring More Things Out...I Think!!! The longer I deal with my 👣 foot injury, think about how it was injured, process how it responds to different things, note where swelling and tenderness is isolated, and experience random flare ups, the more I seem to get a handle on what is going on and what to do for it...besides just resting, as that alone isn't going to fix the problem.
Yes, I am resting from workouts this week, but still doing my rehab exercises for the foot, as those are an essential part of the process!!! 💯
I think I finally isolated what I sprained in my foot and therefore what is unstable... So, leave it to the PT in me to create a taping technique to see if my theory pans out. 😂
With the tape on, I am walking better, experiencing less pain, and feeling more stable through the joint when I am moving around and doing my exercises.
I think I am on to something!!! Will have a scan in a couple weeks for confirmation on everything. 😁

[I'm Shutting It Down For A Bit!] 7:20 on a Saturday...the time I would normally be leaving the gym after my first of two workouts.
Instead...I'm still at home.
Something is continuing to flare up my foot and I can't figure out what... When training, I have only been doing things that are pain-free, but something is triggering these random flare ups.
Walking still aggravates it at times and it wasn't until I was out for about .25 mile that it would tell me if it was going to hurt or not.
After a good discussion last night with someone who wants to see me training full strength and racing again just as much as I do, I decided to concede.
No training for the next week unless I can do it seated or lying down.
No going for walks.

👍Some core and hip isolation work
🛋Lots of lying and sitting around
Accessory Work!!! Accessory and isolation work should be part of your training, but is often neglected.
Perhaps because you feel it is boring, slow, or not a great workout since it isn't fast and intense. 🤷♀️ Here's the question, though, if you are going to do it... 🔑Are you working the areas the exercise is intended to work or is your body compensating for weaknesses or habits?
Accessory or isolation work while still compensating is wasting your time!!! Three questions to ask yourself with every movement:
🔥 Do I know what this exercise is supposed to work?
🔥 Do I feel it where I am supposed to?
🔥 Do I feel something tightening up that shouldn't be?
The more aware you are of what your body is feeling with different exercises, the better athlete you can become.

**What it's really like for medalists at a World Championships, waiting to pee, but all smiles**
We keep our sport clean. After falling victim to cheaters in the past in my sport, and losing out on having a silver medal hung around my neck instead of bronze with the rest of the British Ladies back in 2010 at the European Championships, I feel very strongly on the subject, as do many. The more testing the better!
Every single thing I put in my body as part of my running training, and competition is @wetestyoutrust informed sport or informed choice approved, it's the only way. •
However, after running 50k in 26deg - producing pee is a challenge, it's a long wait, and we were all craving salty chips! but we didn't mind, not really 😉 #thestruggleisreal •

**Run far, run often, but never out run your love of running**
Yes, I Do This To Myself!!! Long rowing interval workout today... First half was fairly simple... Second half was all mental!
My foot injury is definitely forcing me to work on proper rowing technique, keeping the heels down rather than coming onto the toes with every stroke, which is helping me generate more power consistently. 👣 And, a foot update...the swelling and pain is down significantly. My foot almost looks like a normal foot again!!! Fueled and recovery by @vengacbd
🚴♀️Because I can...that's why! 🤷♀️ Or perhaps because I am crazy... I'm going with both! 🤣
I have enjoyed getting out for a long cardio workout once a week and want to continue that evem with the gyms being re-opened.
Being that I can't run yet, I wanted to do a long ride.
Yesterday, I had a number in my head on distance. When I asked @colewaaramaa yesterday how long I should go, he threw out the same number.
So I did! Felt good to get out. 👣Oh, and a foot update... the foot is feeling sooooo much better! Minimal pain today AND the swelling is down so I can finally see the tendons on the top of my foot again. YAY!

I thought I'd do a little longer post today, but stick with it, its a good story!
In 2003 I sat in front of my TV and watched this lady run 2:15:25 for 26.2 miles, to set a mind blowing world record which stood the test of time, only to be beaten last year.
I confess, at the time, I could not really comprehend what it actually meant to run that kind of time for a marathon, but from that moment I was inspired and wanted to run a one. So, at the age of 23 I took up running, plodding around the country lanes of Grundisburgh each morning before work, with no gear, no idea and no watch. I entered my first 10k race that year. •
I only took up running for fun, I had never envisaged being any more than a fun runner.
I discovered a hidden talent. It was spotted by people who knew better, they told me I could be pretty good. In 2005 I ran my first marathon in 3:14, in 2008/9 I got selected to run for team England, and in 2010, I'm stood here chatting to Paula at the post race luncheon, after having represented Team GB at the European Championships Marathon, having just had a bronze medal (now upgraded to silver due to doping disqualifications) hung around my neck in the Olympic stadium in Barcelona with the rest of the British team.
What just happened?....Someone pinch me!!!
This incredible woman was my inspiration 17 years ago. I am forever grateful to her for this, imagine - had I have not watched her that day on the TV? 🤔
That feeling when someone tells you that you inspired them to run...it's amazing, it's an absolute honor. For me, it's the reason I love what I do...it's the reason I keep going!

Accessory Work Day!!! Gyms are open now, but I would have had to modify EVERYTHING.
Rather than drive there just to do my own workout anyway...decided to do another workout at home. 😍 Took a day to do some shoulder and hip isolation work... And I may do some GHD work when I am at the gym later for clients. 😊
