One of the most important decisions you will make on your home building journey is choosing a block of land to buy - Double tap if you agree 👍
When my husband and I started looking for a block, We agreed to find a location that suited our family lifestyle above all our wants. With two little girls, living in a place that felt safe and had a strong sense of community was top on our list.
Our family loves the outdoors, so we needed to have access to lots of nature play 🌱and communal outdoor spaces. For those reasons we wanted a location that was :
1️⃣ right on a park or across a park.
2️⃣ walking distance to schools and childcare.
3️⃣ short drive/walk to a medical centre and pharmacy. (Those with kids will get how important this is🙄😄)
4️⃣ walking distance to a local grocery shop.
5️⃣ a short drive from the beach
By following our top 5 needs, we were able to buy a spot that works well for our budget and lifestyle. To be very honest with you, it is important to buy land based on your family needs not wants, because we all know the wants checklist doesn't have an end😅
What were the top 5 items on your "where to buy land" list? Drop me a line below!!😊
The wires have all been fitted including the provision for the security cams and the NBN box has also been installed. Rendering just needs to be completed on the pillars and the lower level to be cleaned.
Next is the pre-lining walk with the site supervisor 😄
Welcome to No38. 🔑🏠🙌🏻
It’s a new year, and we are SO excited for what is to come. We are buy our first home together! So, here is the creation of our ‘lil Instagram... to follow the transformation of our *soon to be* home!
No38 is located on the top floor; amazing views but a ‘hella lot of stairs... and of course, no lift! But we LOVE it. Swipe for an image from 37 years ago of Albion Textile Mill before it was converted in 2008.
Please be prepared for horrendously assembled DIY furniture, shockingly interesting interior design and hilariousness.
We’re mainly doing this for our own ‘diary’ of events, but thought we’d share this with the world... because that’s what people do now, right?
Thank you & wish us luck with our new Pad! X

Determination.. I am absolutely determined to be in by the end of March. My birthday is on the 28th (yay) and I’m off work early April for half term so would be perfect to spend time getting the house exactly how we want it! Everyone rolls their eyes or laughs at me when I say end of March.. but that’s 3 1/2 months (3months if you ignore the few days at Christmas that nothing was done) and I think that’s reasonable, right? 🤷🏼♀️ We’ve waited so long to have our own space and I can’t wait any longer to move in!!😬
FINISHED RESULT ➡️ BEGINNING
I thought I’d clean the bathroom and absolutely GUT IT!
Another fault of the house .. we don’t have an extractor fan in the bathroom & we have to have the window open constantly and keep the door shut when we have a shower, otherwise if we leave the door open - the steam sets the smoke alarm off on the landing 🤦🏼♀️ & from this we get black mould on the ceiling & it’s gathered around the window so I’m forever cleaning it off but it comes back far too quick! •
All the tiles end up with red in the grout and again I constantly have to clean them! These photos don’t really show too much difference, but if you could see it in person, you’d be able to tell a huge difference!!
I started at 4 and finished at 6! 😳 for such a tiny room, it took a lot of cleaning !! #harrogatehomelife#harrogate#ourfirsthome#firstfamilyhome#cleanbsthroom#cleaningmission#flashbathroomcleaner#cleaningproducts
Today we started thinking about what colour we’d like to paint our front door and garage door. At the moment they’re both a bright royal blue which isn’t offensive by any means, but we think we’d like something a little more muted. Eventually we’ll be building a porch over the door so we don’t want it too dark, but at the same time still want a bit of colour... who knew picking a shade could be so tricky? 🏡
Yesterday marked 6 months that we’ve owned our home. Of course for me this means I’m already bored of our front living room and need to switch it up by getting all new furniture (minus the couch). The scale and proportion in the room is so much better now without the oversized black chairs and clunky IKEA shelving. I’m not done but it’s a good start🤷♀️
Swipe for the evolution of this room including how I had it previously decorated.
INSPO • Pleaseee can we take a minute to appreciate @kimkardashian ‘s home. This is my dream style, although our house is a million miles away from being a mansion I will definitely be channeling the minimal and neutral tones throughout our home. Simply stunning. •
Happy Sunday everyone! Our house is all clean, ready for another week. We're currently in a zoflora and polish haze. 🌸
Hope everyone has had a good weekend, this loooong January is almost over, guys we've nearly made it! Louis started a new job last week and has so far really enjoyed himself. He's closer to home too which is fabulous 😍 it's definitely made all the difference having him home a couple of hours earlier.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, we're going to sit down to some ribs 🤗
Opening up a wall can make such a difference 🙌🏼 I love that our house has an open concept on this level and then a more closed off space for our family room and playroom downstairs. It’s kind of the best of both worlds. Do you prefer an open concept, or more defined areas?
Some truly amazing choice on the furnitures of this space, designed by @georgios_tataridis🙌🏼
