Orphan Camp, put on by Talsi Christian School / Talsu Kristīgā Skola is a GREAT success!
Orphans and children from poor and broken families are brought to Talsi Christian school, where they will spend 5 days with the mission team. US mission team partners with youth and young adults from Talsi Christian School and local churches to organize the camp. Activities during the camp include Bible studies, crafts, music, sports, and most of all loving on children who do not experience Christ’s love at home. In addition to the camp, you’ll also experience a few days of sightseeing the beautiful country of Latvia:

Each year, St. John’s Church provides more than 500 warm items 🧤 for area children in need. 🧣During Advent we’re collecting mittens, hats, scarves, gloves and socks. 🧦 Items may be placed on the Mitten Tree in the Common Room beginning Sunday, December 1, 🌲 or bring them to the altar at the 4:30 p.m. service on Christmas Eve.❤️ #mittentree#outreach#community#episcopalian#sjtulsa
What will happen to the polar regions in a world with 2°C warming? A new study published this week in Science delivers the answer. The mean annual temperatures in the Arctic will go up by 4°C and in the Antarctic 2°C. More concerning is however the expected increase of 7°C in winter temperatures in the Arctic and 3°C in the Antarctic. One doesn’t need to be a genius to understand that this will have massive effects on the ecosystems in the polar regions, besides potentially increasing global sea levels by up to 3 m. Something, which will massively affect hundreds of millions of people living in coastal areas. But as it looks of now, we won’t be able to stay within the 2°C warming limit until 2100 and are rather likely to reach a 3-4°C warming. Let’s better not think about what this would mean for the polar regions and in turn for our lives.

Thank you Drew Hansen and #WMBF#NBC news for having me out to speak about our Flash mob for Christ and Outreach tomorrow, at Heroes Harbor, Broadway at the Beach. We will be shining Light into the darkness of suicide and depression to create change. Partnering with Seacoast Vineyard Church and uniting with six additional churches as well as Coastal Samaritan Counseling Center is a blessing.
Please stop by to see us raise our hands in praise to what God is already doing to bring awareness. Our outreach and prayer table will provide answers to understanding what to do or look for if you or someone you know is depressed or has suicidal thoughts.
Broadway will start their Christmas Parade at 11. Our outreach starts at 1pm and we will be set up with other businesses until 4pm, including Toys for Tots. Hope to see you there. “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Gandhi

Here’s a short Zen parable to contemplate on this chilly Friday:
The Muddy Road:
Tanzan and Ekido were once traveling together down a muddy road. A heavy rain was still falling.
Coming around a bend, they met a lovely girl in a silk kimono and sash, unable to cross the intersection.
"Come on, girl," said Tanzan at once. Lifting her in his arms, he carried her over the mud.
Ekido did not speak again until that night when they reached a lodging temple. Then he no longer could restrain himself. "We monks don't go near females," he told Tanzan, "especially not young and lovely ones. It is dangerous. Why did you do that?"
"I left the girl there," said Tanzan. "Are you still carrying her?"

2019 was a year to advance boldly for Ravali and Alisha. Hear their inspiring testimony of how God took them out of their comfort zone to go into the city of Bangalore to share the love of Christ. They're expecting to walk with greater zest in 2020.

We are loving the song "Light of the World" by @lauren_daigle⠀
The true gifts of Christmas are not contingent on other people’s attitudes, beliefs, hospitality or cooperation. The true gifts of Christmas are given directly from your heavenly Father to you His precious child. The Light of the World rips away the darkness of even the burden of cancer. Open yourself this Christmas to receiving each and every gift that comes from the King of Kings and Lord of Lords to YOU.⠀

Nós recebíamos visitas das crianças vizinhas, elas me ensinavam a dançar, jogávamos futebol, esconde-esconde e etc.
The best part of living in Los Angeles was getting to walk the streets of Skid Row and share the gospel. Man, God is on the move there. It was such an honor to get to know the people I met there, connecting with them each week, giving them smiles, hugs and prayer. There was one woman I met one of the first few times I went there. Her name is Kristen, but her friends call her Amazon, because she’s “always there when you need her”. We clicked right away. I went and visited her tent each week, brought her snacks and water, prayed with her and listened to her tell me stories about her life. One thing I loved about Amazon was her kindness. After I got done praying for her, she would ask, “Now, how can I be praying for you?”. Wow. To hear those words come from someone who has experienced so much brokenness in their life, yet who still chooses to be selfless is absolutely amazing. Amazon would always ask us what scripture was our favorite, she would write it in her notebook and read it over in her Bible. When we first met, she noticed the tattoo on my arm of “talitha koum” from Mark 5:41, which states, “He took her by the hand and said to her ‘TALITHA KOUM’ which means ‘little girl, I say to you, rise up!’” She asked me what it meant and we flipped through pages of her bible and read the scripture together. She told me that she was so grateful to God for using me to share that word of encouragement with her. Every time she saw me after that, she pointed out my tattoo and would tell me how she has been “rising up” from the challenges she’s experienced. At the end of my time in Los Angeles, I arrived at her tent on the corner to her standing and beaming with pure joy. She told me she had decorated her skateboard in honor of me, and she would never forget me. She would think of that scripture every time she rode her skateboard along those streets. I wept as I hugged her. That’s when I realized why I do what I do. Sure, I’m young and new in faith and not necessarily “qualified”, but NONE of that matters. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. He’s preparing you for what He’s prepared for you! Amazon, be brave. God’s got you. I love you my friend.
