If you want an up close view of class discrepancy, look no further than the way @nypennstation treats @amtrak customers as opposed to @njtransit customers. The NJT has two working outlets, one of which you dangerously have to hold your plug in to charge, and even if you were forward planning enough to bring a charger they try to sell you power. Meanwhile Amtrak has ROWS of charging outlets open that NJT customers can stare at longingly while hoping their phone doesn’t die. In this day and age charging is not a luxury, it’s a necessity, and while I get having some luxuries for Amtrak, this level of discrepancy is criminal. Shame on you Penn. Shame on you NJT and Amtrak. It’s bad enough that NJT trains always have to defer signal to Amtrak but this is all levels of not okay. #njtransit#amtrak#pennstationnyc#classdiscrimination
Thanks to everyone who made it possible for me to be on this train to #Connecticut right now: - The passenger next to me who saw I was on a hurry and let me get out first
- The airport workers who by chance picked my suitcase at the very beginning
- The bus driver who saw me running and opened the bus doors for me as it was already leaving
- The passengers in the bus who helped me with my huge suitcases
- The taxi driver who did his best through NYC traffic and got me to Penn Station 5 minutes before the train left
These big open doors mean it’s time to explore. All entrances lead to the heart of The Velvet Mill. Along the path to your destination, take a peek at what your friends and neighbors have been busy doing this summer. We are really impressed with their hard work.
9/11: Old saying: time heals. The truth is some wounds hurt so bad that they never totally heal. It’s been 18 years and still it’s a day I will never forget. I still feel a twinge in my heart. Not going to lie, some days I do wish I could go back in time and change things around but for most days, I feel lucky that I’m able to tick a few things off my bucket list. I’m often crazy busy as I try to make the most of everyday and sometimes 24 hours just isn’t enough. So I do have to remind myself from time to time to simply enjoy every moment, cherish the people I love and hug them a little tighter because life is precious. On a positive note, swipe left to see the beautiful gift that my dear friend made me. What a nice surprise! 💕 “Anything can happen to anyone at any time and you shouldn’t just live through the days or you lose them. You should do what you can to enjoy every moment. ~ Sarah Brightman
This is too good not to share with you guys- some really good food for thought!!! Mr. Jones ( employed at NYC Amtrak Penn Station) gave everyone, who was waiting for 125 train today, a very simple yet unforgettable leadership and work ethic lesson!!! We believe he is one of the managers at the station, yet he spent at least 30 min talking to everyone, who was waiting for a train, that was delayed. He knew names of every single employee, that walked by him and acknowledged them all- made them smile. He made every passenger he has interacted with so much happier this morning! Great job Mr. Jones!!! 👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #amtrak#pennstationnyc#peopleofpennstation#mrjones#bealeader#amtraktrain#amtraknyc#workethic#doyourbest#workhard#foodforthought
If you aren't sweating then YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!!!!! Keeping up my habit of doing 2:2 elliptical intervals as active recovery the day after my upper body workouts. Solid overall steps and mileage for the day with my usual walks to and from #pennstationnyc and a good bit of walking at work.
Food info for the day on last 5 photos.

Been to the city twice before but always avoided Times Square for the rush and crowd. Less did I know that I would enjoy being among the crowd. Food trucks, clothing brands, cafes, lights - lots of lights, yellow cabs, city colors and what not!
Eat. Sleep. Travel. Repeat. 🚕 // My cozy, go-to travel look is always evolving, but you can always count on some denim, burgundy, and olive in there - and for those early travel mornings, my guilty indulgence: homemade cashew latte 😋☕️🚕🏛🍎 #BuiltForTheWild#thatislandgirltravels
The chicken should of never crossed the road.. 🐓 😋 🤤
Try our chicken fingers lightly battered.. do it plain, buffalo or toss it in garlic parmesan like in this picture! Comes with a dipping sauce for some more fun like honey mustard, ranch or blue cheese!
Only at the Blarney..

August 12th 2018 - Still fresh from our subway/train experiences in Japan, i could not help but compare that to Newyork Subway/ train system. Japanese subways were efficient, on time and extremely clean. As i took NJtransit from Newark Penn Station to New York Penn station and then a subway from New York Penn Station to Canal St, i realized that Newyork subways were mostly, almost opposite in nature.
Even with my patriotism for The Land of opportunities, it was still hard for me to accept and digest how unmaintained and uncared the subways and the stations were. Despite not having trash cans, somehow there was not a single piece of trash in Japanese subways/stations. So i tried to understand if newyork subways were harder to maintain because of how busy they were, but based on statistics, Tokyo subways handle an estimated 8 million passengers every work day, compared to 5 million passengers in new york subways!! so is it cost of operation, how old the system is or maintaining 400+ stations that makes ontime, well maintained and efficient operations of Newyork subways just a dream, that may never come true? i have more research to do but meanwhile we atleast have wifi in our subways and most of the time it works!! 😉 And i somehow kept looking for the subway ghost from Ghost movie to show up and ask me to get off his train!! yup, weird and scary!! #smithasphotography#fernwehfotography#nyc#newyorkcity#newyorkcityphotography#bigapple 🍎 #nycbrooklynbridge#bigapplenewyork#nycsubwayshots#subwaynyc#pennstationnyc

Before Penn Station became a widely despised claustrophobic cave of commuters, the building was a once glorious train hall flooded with natural light and ornamental glass ceilings. It's destruction in the early 1960’s made way for what we now know as Madison Square Garden. But with tragedy comes triumph for NYC commuters with the SOM design of new Penn station in the old post office across the street. Watch this space.
PENN STATION. Where can you wait for a train, get a beer and a hot slice? Here's a hint, it's the only place where you can actually sit down and watch TV in Penn. 😉 More importantly, which slice would you choose?? 🍕🍕🍕
