✨ WHY YOUR PET NEEDS INSURANCE JUST LIKE A HUMAN✨
Ok, I had every intention of sharing more awesome sales going on this week with you all, but as I’m sitting outside the emergency veterinary hospital with my dog I figured I needed to switch this weeks #SundaySavings up! .
In my professional life, I am a marketing director for veterinary health hospitals. I am so passionate about pets (especially my own) and do what I can to make sure every pet is loved their entire life. But I will admit, I did not have pet insurance for my dogs up until last year. I don’t know why I waited because it’s such a no brainer. .
Pets are expensive! Owning a pet requires a lot of upfront costs but also will cost you thousands of dollars throughout their lifetime even if they are healthy! So it makes tons of sense that if you invest in owning a pet you invest in their healthcare as well. Let’s talk about 2 of those options:
🐾WELLNESS PLANS: these are amazing plans which most veterinary hospitals not offer. They cover all of the primary care services and support your pet needs including vaccines, exams, life stage surgeries and more. One of the best things about wellness plans is they are #budgetfriendly , offering you all the necessary services for your pet at a monthly payment plan price (and usually at a discount). .
🐾 PET INSURANCE: this covers all of the unexpected accidents and I’ll eases your pet May experience through their lifetime! Swallowed a stick and need foreign body surgery? Covered. Cancer treatments? Covered. Hit by a car and need a leg amputated to save their life? Covered. In my case, even a Sunday visit for anticipated pain is covered. Again. Pet insurance is a monthly investment but works just like humans insurance. You pay a deductible and then everything after that deductible is met is covered by insurance. Whatever is left on your agreement is your responsibility, but is no longer thousands of dollars for one incident. .
Here is how pet insurance helps YOU:
🐾 financial security
🐾 best medicine for your pet 🐾 less animals returned to shelters due to lack of finances 🐾 pet owner peace of mind.

Summer is a great time to get out more with your pet — and while that means more fun in the sun, it can also spell trouble for your ever-curious pet when it comes to poisonous plants in the garden. 🐕🌺🌸⠀

Unfortunately the big Duchess had another episode yesterday. It was very similar to the one that prompted us to take her in last month and that resulted in emergency surgery. Thankfully everything looks clear internally, and for now they’re chalking it up to her being a sensitive girl 🙄. We’re keeping a close eye on her but I am about to do a major food change for all these girls, which will no doubt result in her and the Yeti never eating again 🙄🙄🙄 Duchess says: eye Frow Up everwaRE ha ha hAAAA

As a veterinarian, it is inevitable that you’ll have to have an uncomfortable conversation with owners about finances at some point in time.
When someone spends $3000 for a puppy from a pet store and then has no money to treat its infectious pneumonia, that can be pretty hard to swallow. Or when a $30 vaccine could have prevented a puppy from getting parvovirus and needing $7-10k of aggressive care in the CCU... it is tough to stay level headed.
But here’s the thing: we are here to help. Bottom line. Our job is not to shame you for spending thousands of dollars on a dog from a breeder, or shame you for not having any money for treatment. No matter what, I’m always going to try to figure out a way to get your animal treatment and find a way to say YES.
What I do hope is that if this happens to you, if you’re put in a tough financial situation with your companion animal, that you remember how difficult it was and learn from that hardship. Having an animal is a financial commitment, and it takes planning.
I STRONGLY encourage anyone with a pet to consider getting insurance. I have seen companies like @trupanion pay out over $100,000 in medical expenses for an animal. It is so worth it.
This cute Frenchie is a great example. Her parents knew that her breed is prone to a host of medical issues, so they promptly insured her. (She is just fine, and her photo is shared with permission).
I know it’s hard to think about your pet ever needing tens of thousands of dollars in medical care, but if they do, you’ll be happy that you had a plan in place. Plan for the worst; hope for the best.

Thanks SPOT Pet Insurance for my bandana!
Iz looking so handsome with it 😍
Finally, some good news! ❤️ For several weeks now, Mako has been limping and we were given the distressing diagnosis of a partially torn CCL by his vet. The dog equivalent of the ACL, surgery to fix this is thousands of dollars and months of rehab. I’ve been distraught.
Today we were finally able to get him seen by a specialist and it turns out he only has a muscle strain! It hasn’t been healing as quickly as normal but they think that with more intense rest and some anti-inflammatory meds, he’ll be ready to run in a couple weeks. 💃 No surgery needed!
I’m so thankful and feel as though a heavy weight has been lifted. Foolishly, I don’t have pet insurance for him and was worried about making the surgery happen... so it looks like we’ll be researching dog health insurance this weekend! 🐶
Are you more of a homebody or a social butterfly? What about your pup? Has anybody else become more social and active since getting a dog? 🙋♀️
We thought we were pretty active people before we got Hammy - but now, we are ALWAYS out and about, exploring our city, meeting new dogs and people everywhere we go. Our lifestyle has definitely changed!
I’ll admit, there are times when I want to just hang out at home and relax, or go on a walk without stopping to talk to anyone. Hammy usually has other plans 😂 and I’m always glad that he pushes me to be more active and outgoing.
Does your dog get more excited to meet dogs or humans? #sponsored#petinsurance#spotpet
