For those who don’t know I am a BIPOC handler. I am Black and Latinx/e. What has happening has been very upsetting, and sometimes even triggering to me, but it is so important. If you are non-black and what is happening is making you uncomfortable, take a good introspective look on WHY it is making you uncomfortable. Now more than ever it is important to LISTEN to black folx, and follow their lead. If you are wondering what you can do to support the Black Lives Matter movement, I have been posting resources and places to donate to on my story and will continue to do so. I personally know 2 other BIPOC handlers, and are mutuals with about maybe 5 others. The service dog community is so dominated by whiteness, and we need you to do better. I once had a white handler tell me “this isn’t about race/race has nothing to do with this” it has everything to do with race because for me, race is something that I do not have the privilege to ignore. If you are wondering how to directly support us, consider donating to a black handler. If you are unable to donate there are other ways you can help. You don’t know how emotionally exhausting it is to educate folx on something you have been experiencing your whole life. Acknowledge your privilege, your platform, and do something with it.
One thing I've noticed about Scar is he is always in high alert mood. If he's outside the house, he is looking around, doesn't take treats, and is ready for commands. In the car is the first time I've seen him sit outside the house.
He does ok in cars. He mostly sits like this and doesn't move around a bunch, though he also likes watching cars out of the back window. He's also not use to the turning or start stop of cars as he sometimes looses his balance. He'll have to go for a few more car rides. He does have trouble getting in and out of the car. Our car is low to the ground and it still took a milk bone to convince him to leave the car. He may need help getting in and out of larger cars. #SayHelloToMyLittleFriend#PitbullMix#FosterMomma#FindAForeverHome
This a couch potato of a dog.
He is still getting use to all the appliances and all the noises they make. He's currently afraid of our kitchen bathroom and the fridge.
But he loves to rest on a cozy spot. He has a spot on the couch where he will cozy tight up next to me. He likes when I put a hand on his belly while he naps. I'm happy to oblige. #SayHelloToMyLittleFriend#PitbullMix#FosterMomma#FindAForeverHome

This is Scarface!
My family will be fostering him for the next few weeks.
He's has a very sad story but the Toledo Humane Society has been taking good care of him for the last month and he's been gaining some weight and strength. After a precious foster, they found out that he doesn't like cats and would do great in a home where he's the only pet.
He is available for adoption and looking for his forever home. Contact the Toledo Humane Society if you think Scarface (Scar for short) would be great in your home. #SayHelloToMyLittleFriend#PitbullMix#FosterMomma#FindAForeverHome
