So it was 5 C here today, 5,7 at noon. Had to hurry and get some cuttings. Gaaah. It's supposed to be 2 Celsius this Friday. And apparently they got quite a lot of snow in Värmland this morning☃️ Too soon!😠👎

Happy Tuesday, chubby-plant lovers! Have you entered our incredible 3k Wacky, Weird, and Wonderful Succulent Giveaway yet? Check back two posts on our page for your chance to win a free flat full of 16 unique succulents! We'll be discussing 1 of these 16 unique plants daily until October 4th when we select our lucky winner! Today I wanted to briefly discuss number 2 out of our 16 plants, Hatiora Salicornioides !
Hatiora Salicornioides, commonly known as the Bottle Cactus, Dancing-Bones, or Drunkard's-Dream, is a species of flowering cactus in the tribe Rhipsalideae. Native to eastern Brazil, it's found growing in moist forests, savanna, or in high rocky areas. It's usually epiphytic or lithophytic in growth, growing with it's very limited, shallow root systems attached to treetops high in the forest canopy or in the crevices of rocky cliffsides! The growth is succulent, helping to retain moisture that is absorbed through dew and rain, instead of soaking the water in from the roots. The Dancing-Bones Cactus can grow to around 3 feet (1 M) tall and wide at full maturity, with a pendent growth habit allowing them to trail gracefully from hanging baskets. The stems of this unique species are composed of small segments shaped like clubs or bottles, each being narrower at the base and wider towards the middle. It’s a compact, dense, bushy plant and the uniquely contorted foliage resembles coral to some, making this species an amazing addition to popular underwater themed gardens! The distinct foliage of this species makes the Dancing-Bones Cactus a great choice for all, adding textural interest to any collection! Small yellow to orange flowers are borne at the ends of younger stem segments in the spring, with translucent, white berries following the blooms. This species requires some humidity, is not frost-tolerant, and requires light shade and a minimum average temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit (12 C) for best health. The Dancing-Bones Cactus is easily propagated by any size stem cuttings !

A trifecta of Boophone in the process of growing their leaves for this season. Two B. disticha in the back, and the largest of my B. haemanthoides seedlings in the front. There are all manner of different bulbs starting to emerge at this time of year.
Sometimes it just takes a little time, this cissus discolor came soooo upset about being shipped in a box in the summertime and I lost about half the plant, vines and all! But a few weeks later and these tiny baby leaves are growing back along the remaining stems which have been slowly recovering. I’m so happy to see these little babes 😍
First post since December 2018 and inspired by @the_mothercooker to get back on the Instagram! ALOT has changed since then, gaining of an allotment, a change of career and now studying a level 2 diploma full time at the botanical gardens in Birmingham, onwards and upwards 😊
So... I love this time of the year for lighting In the flat, so soft In evening which really makes the jungle shine and the greens pop! It's not to everyone's taste, but it's my little place of serenity when one doesn't have a garden. Now the first post is done, which is the hardest when you've been away, I'll be following with more real soon! 😍

My plant shelf which I loooove. Note the subtle Halloween decorations and one Dia de Los Muertos cat protecting my kids. #halloween#pumpkin

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this calathea orbifolia at a plant store the other day. Jardiland is a plant/animal/house decor chain store in France. Would you believe that this orbifolia was only $26?! There was a smaller pot, around 6in for $14. I’ve found many a treasures while out here that have been shocking me left and right! If you guys want to check out more of my planty adventures while overseas check out the link in my bio!
