A few days ago, I posted a picture of the giant Begonia fusca in the botanical garden of San Francisco. This species if one of the largest Begonias and recently, @brianbegonias gave me a small plant from the ones that he propagated from a leaf. I'm excited to see this one grow as the leaves have a really nice and lush green color and are also pretty fluffy!

В Алматы настала самая хмурая часть года. Хорошо, что она не долгая, иначе я и мои растения совсем зачахли бы.
Tho’ this took more than 3 days... this #caladiumnewwave has been a one-leaf wonder, each new leaf popping up only to replace another BUT for the first time, I see a 2nd one following quickly - happy to see it alive and kicking again! .
Something a lil different! Who would’ve thought the first plant I’d buy since my plant ban would be a fucking bowl of potted colour 😂 well technically this is a housewarming gift for my best friend, who finally, after a good couple months, found a house! These were just so huge and affordable I couldn’t help it. It’s my first time even going into a garden centre since before the plant ban, and I was quite disappointed to be honest because there was nothing of my interest at all 😭 so I think I’ll buy something online for myself instead. But back to the flowers 😂 uh I have no idea what these are, at all hahaha, maybe petunias? Idk, but I was loving the smell of the roses though my god! I really wanted to find myself a plant today to kinda celebrate a step forward in my mental health as I have officially started medication to help with my depression and anxiety! After many years of avoiding it, I finally got to a place of acceptance that I do indeed need some pharmaceutical assistance as well as talk therapy, which is a huge milestone for me so 🥳 toot! .
Plant ID: 🌸 no idea honestly
I just have to take a hot second to gush about this green machine☺️💚 I learned something so cool the other day! #sharingiscaring .
Not only is the tower dirt, pesticide, bug & weed free, she runs on timers so black thumbs like me don’t have to remember when to water AND....🥁 the full spectrum LED lights are the same kind of lights that are being used in dementia wards because they “mimic” sunlight which has been shown to help with all sorts of things, including seasonal affective disorder, which in case you didn’t know can also reek havoc on your immune system! .
She’s literally making people happier & healthier not just by providing healthy nutrient dense food, but also because of her “happy lights” 👏😄 .

Remember my little Begonia chlorosticta? A few months on, it has far out grown its terrarium, which meant I had to take loads of cuttings. Not bad for a plant that was thought extinct in the wild until it was recently rediscovered in Borneo!
Sadly I don’t have space for all these 6 cuttings, so I thought I would do a giveaway to anyone in London or surrounds, so you can do your role in conserving the species too.
By coincidence, I also have 6 pairs of tickets to the opening of new London houseplant store @w6gardencentre this coming Thursday 14th November at 18.30, where I’ll be doing a talk with cocktails. So how about a competition?
All you have to do is write a sentence on what indoor gardening has given you and post it in the comments below. I’ll be picking them most inspiring 6 and putting your name on the guest list at the event, by midnight on Monday 11th November. (That’s tomorrow!). See obligatory terms and conditions below.
