Just looking back on last week's post while I prepare for next week. My favorite recipe this last week was the Zucchini Lasagna. What was yours?
If you haven't gotten a chance to look through the blog the link is in the bio ☺
All recipes are healthy & vegan. The majority are also gluten-free. I guess even subconsciously I try to be inclusive.
I have decided to make a conscious effort for now on to consider different diets for future posts.
I am pretty excited about this because first of all, I love to learn and try new things, and secondly, I also like to see what works and doesn't work for my own body.
I always like suggestions on the blog too, so just dm me!
Not only is it legal, the Canadian justice system has shown yet again; it will sink millions of taxpayer dollars into prosecuting those who try to bring truth to light; as opposed to prosecuting the individuals + industries which carry out this behaviour.
After exposing mass animal cruelty at Excelsior Hog Farm (also the site of #MeatTheVictims ), these four activists and friends are appearing in court on September 3. They are being charged with 21 counts of indictable offences (the highest level in Canadian courts).
The footage from Excelsior showed workers kicking pigs, using electric prods on their faces, tail docking, castration with anaesthetic, and more.
Excelsior committed animal cruelty violations, and several were caught on video. The BC SPCA stated they could not recommend charges because the video source was from an anonymous individual.
The SPCA is futile here. They have vested interests, prioritize certain animals over others, and we have seen that reinforced multiple times.
If you are an animal activist in Canada: this impacts you. If you are an animal activist anywhere: this impacts you. As we see AG-GAG laws unfold one after another, our ability to expose these truths is further compromised.
The call-to-actions to support this campaign are included in the images of this post. Follow along for updates and other ways you can support.
They’ll tell us to shut up, they’ll tell us to stop. They’ll tell us to sit down, give up, and they’ll continue funnelling money into the farce of a justice system. Don’t let them. Do your part, make your noise, and let’s get loud AF for the animals.
CARBOHYDRATOPHOBIA: the misinformed fear of carbohydrates that leads to sadness, poor performance, inadequate energy intake, and crappy workout sessions.
ATHLETES SHOULD NOT BE AVOIDING CARBOHYDRATES. They are the body’s preferred source of energy.
Refined sources of carbohydrate are probably not the healthiest on a daily basis (I would limit them to certain workouts and special occasions). They lack the fiber and nutrients of their more whole counterparts, and oftentimes end up replacing opportunities to eat something more nutrient dense.
But whole food sources of carbohydrate (whole grains, root veggies, fruit, other veggies, legumes) ARE super health-promoting.
Because of their fiber and micronutrients, our body’s handle them differently than they do refined carbohydrates.
A huge fear of many athletes is that carbohydrates turn into fat. If you’re worried about unwanted weight gain, eat whole food sources of carbohydrate.
And not in a I’ve lost weight and feel validated by society kinda good. But a strong, badass ready to conquer the world kinda good! I’ve fallen in and out of love with fitness but as soon as I shifted my mindset into training for strength and headspace rather than burning calories heck I actually love moving my body 😂 don’t get me wrong I’ve always been an active lil bean but lockdown brought me this balance I never thought I’d achieve! Anyway if you’re struggling with your fitness journey maybe take a look at your mindset and think about why you’re doing it!
I think burpees for brownies is gonna be my new motto 🤣💛
