Had a great holiday weekend camping and enjoying this gorgeous area! We tried to find a mountain view spot on one of the forest roads but they were all taken or too close to people so we decided to camp on a forest road near Takhlakh Lake instead and it was awesome! We could easily walk to the lake from camp (which has a gorgeous view of Mt. Adams as its backdrop, pic 4!) but had our own private spacious campsite versus being inside the packed campground. We also were super close to another lake and did a little hike in that area. Mostly we just unplugged and enjoyed tons of quality time together and it was a lot of fun!
My third attempt at star trails and finally got the results I wanted.
The stationary dot in the upper left hand corner is the North Star, Polaris. By letting the camera take multiple exposures over 3+ hours and stacking them, you can see the stars “trail” as the Earth rotates on its axis.
Space is so interesting.

🌿 my happy place ☀️
Working from home has me itching to get back out to the mountains!
I’m making a list of PNW hikes to work my way through this summer. Seattle friends, if you have any favs drop them in the comments and I’ll add them to my list!
(Also an open invitation to then come on the hike with me :)
“The magic of mountains strengthened
Their fierce beauty,
Their power to enchant,
We went in search of places that were intimidating and uncontrollable.
That inspired in us the heady blend of pleasure and terror.
Which we came to call the sublime.”
- Willem Dafoe, narrating my favorite movie, Mountain
