This morning I left #Normandy after some very comfortable AirBnB accomodation. It was raining, but I could see blue sky. Unfortunately I turned away from the blue, and headed down the autoroute into the grey. It pissed down with rain, and I pulled over to put on my rain suit. As I pulled the zipper it came off in my hand. The velcro secondary closure would have to do.
The rain got so heavy I pulled into the services to shelter, I had bags of time. After a bitter coffee the weather had brightened up, so I set off without my waterproofs.
There was minimal spray and drizzle and it brightened up a little more as I arrived in the port of Le Havre. I had a final meal after riding round the dead town centre (as is typical for France on a Sunday) looking for somewhere to eat.
The 5 hour ferry journey was just a little delayed, and I mounted my bike as quickly as I could. I would be second of the boat
To my disgust it was pissing down with rain, not what the forecasting had said. I had a hunch it would not last and took the risk. After being delayed by a border officer asking me to remove my crash helmet, I rode past some bikers who were putting their wet weather gear on. I pushed on along the dark wet M27 out of #portsmouth and eventually the road was dry, as was I.
Google maps told me there were road closures in Bristol, and after 2 hours straight on the bike I was getting sore. I chose to ignore them and go my usual route, and was glad it was all resolved. Another good decision as it started raining hard just as I pulled up at my house.
I've done over 6000KM, around 4000 miles and passes nearly 30 mountains mostly in the Alps. A more fair measure would be time in the saddle, which was 6-12 hours almost every day. A great trip comes to an end, and tomorrow I am back in the office doing what is necessary to have this lifestyle 😊

It’s here... my closing article for @southseafolk feature on men’s health and well-being.
“The Suffering of Men” speaks to how men also suffer under and from an alliance to oppressive systems such a patriarchy and constructs such as toxic masculinity, which are rooted within maintaining and seeking to occupy power-over dynamics of relating...
Hearts of men need breaking open and freeing, their pain given space and acknowledging and healing to be facilitated.
I talk about how this healing might look, and feel like, using spiritual practices, influenced by the dharma.
Thx to @southseafolk for featuring this topic and inviting me to share my experience of it, in the only way I know how.

What a week of sunsets we’ve had in Portsmouth this week! Last night was the first time I was able to get out with my camera and the sunset gods were kind to me. After the sun had set we were left with the most beautiful purple and orange glow above the horizon. It’s not often you get one of those sunsets where you have to tone down the vibrancy when processing an image.
