houses are old, others are new and a few are abandoned. But all of them have its own unique history..
We are in the northwest of Greece around the Amvrakikos gulf. Once upon a time hundred thousand people lived here as there was always plenty of seafood in the gulf. Coins from the 3rd century has been found in ancient Nikopolis, they tells us that Greek, Romans and Jews lived here well.
Today the gulf is one of the most important routes for European migratory birds. Dalmatian Pelicans, rare species of ducks, dolphins and seals can be seen here. Gabari shrimp, eels and the famous avgotaraho (dried and salted fish) are some of the exclusive products coming from these waters.
In my stories this week photos and videos from the fishing village Koronisia.
