This sweet little cup has one of the glazes that crazed. See those tiny cracks in the glaze? That’s crazing. (Swipe to see a closeup of the inside rim.) It’s a sign that the glaze and the clay don’t fit well because they expand and contract at different rates during the firing and cooling. And while the crazing may look kinda cool, it actually weakens the ware and renders it not food safe.
This right here is one of the major reasons why I need to do more testing before I glaze and fire the rest of my mugs, bowls, and cups. I’m going to spend the next week making multiple small cups or bowls in this white stoneware, the black clay, and my new red clay. Then I’ll bisque them and glaze them so I know how each will behave on these different clays. Only when I know that, will I know what glazes are going to work on my other pieces, including the Wish mugs.
Honestly, I’m frustrated by this delay, but I know I need to get it right. I know that if I rush it, I’ll regret it and will end up ruining some pots, and I really don’t want to do that. So, I’m taking a breath and reminding myself that it will be well worth the time and attention I put into it. 💜
Identity crisis much? 🤦🏻♀️ I can’t seem to settle into any particular style. I just love all the variety! What style should I make more of? 🤔. Btw I’m planning on doing an “official” online sale late December 😬

I will be selling some pieces at the holiday sale this year. Friday Nov. 22nd 12p-6p and Saturday Nov. 23rd 9a-4p at St. Paul’s United Methodists Church 225 W Griggs. Make sure to stop by and see me and the other amazing artists at the sale!
We're at the bisque stage of testing new clay bodies. So far in our testing, folks are enjoying the softness of some of the clay bodies containing more red art. Super curious how the lizella heavy bodies will turn out as well. Next we will glaze half of each bowl with one of our white glazes and send them through the kiln to cone 9. Stay tuned for updates on that...
Only a couple of days to go until the @crouchendchristmasfair on November 23rd at Hornsey Parish Church where I’ll be selling some porcelain beakers, pots and Christmas decorations. There will be a host of potters and crafters all selling their products and it’s an ideal time to pick up some unique gifts for Christmas (and no, it’s not too early!). Do come and see us between 11 and 4 - free entry.

The only perk to being a plant killer is that dead monstera leaves look cool in a photo.
Took some time to play with a few new patterned mugs & they’ve just been added to the site (detail videos in my stories) ☕️
Ah the Bony Mug! Every time I start a new mug production cycle I start with a series of Bony Mugs. My oldest and most comforting pattern. Marks made with Paisley Tool variations and some added touches with the Finger Tip Tool (tools available on my website-link in bio).

Then I went back and cooked a second time (in one day!) without burning! A record! This time, it was actually Brie in the Brie Baker. Now my lifestyle is Vegan Plus Desserts. Considering that this had apples, vegan caramel, and a bit of brown sugar, I considered this dessert! Scrumptious! The Brie Baker is now a definite part of my collection and I am looking forward to cooking for the holidays! Did I really say that out loud?!😱

If there is a maker in your life then please hug them, love them and be patient with them. We are all so exhausted from creating and need a break but we are constantly motivated and excited by creativity! 🌲
I love this season so much and I'm trying very hard to set aside enough time for family and friends. I'm looking forward to a weekend out of City limits in the middle of nowhere with close friends followed by a full week off of school for Thanksgiving. I'll be making almost every day but setting aside time for lots of snuggles with my littles. 〰️ The kiln is firing into the evening tonight filled with goodies for @bsbsatx and my mind is swarming with ornament ideas so a night of sketching is on the agenda! .
Moss and rust. Or evergreens and fall leaves. Or red clay soil and a stream. I don’t know, but these colors really speak to me.

#mugshotmonday with some bonus cups!
This gorgeous green courtesy of the glaze Pinnell Strontium Weathered Bronze Green, which I’ve been making since college oh so many years ago. Here it’s layered over Strontium Crystal Magic Cool, and in addition the mug has a quick dip of a clear on the lip to give it even more texture.

And just like that, I woke up feeling better yesterday.
Depression is illogical. I have to do my best to navigate it with the understanding that it will pass. Because it always does.
Living with bipolar II is complicated...and has changed as I’ve gotten older. I don’t know if I’ll ever “figure it out” and I’m trying to embrace that and be ok with it.
Thank you for your patience with me and all my messy humanness.☺️

Constantly experimenting with various surface techniques in search of the best way to create my lines. This morning was Mishima through wax. Will need to do more with this technique to wrap my head around it. •
