Henry VIII JUG
Fabulous Henry Jug. Slip cast un fired at this stage. With thanks to the lovely Shane porter.
If there is a maker in your life then please hug them, love them and be patient with them. We are all so exhausted from creating and need a break but we are constantly motivated and excited by creativity! 🌲
I love this season so much and I'm trying very hard to set aside enough time for family and friends. I'm looking forward to a weekend out of City limits in the middle of nowhere with close friends followed by a full week off of school for Thanksgiving. I'll be making almost every day but setting aside time for lots of snuggles with my littles. 〰️ The kiln is firing into the evening tonight filled with goodies for @bsbsatx and my mind is swarming with ornament ideas so a night of sketching is on the agenda! .
Okay so a friend at the studio told me that she makes herself pedestals for her pieces and this is what I was doing the other day. :) the pieces are already trimmed and drying, but I am excited for them! :) • .
Also, you should go and check out my friend @potterymerchant she not only creates beautiful pieces but she is also the one who thought me how to throw on the wheel and who I can go to whenever I have a question!! • .
For flattening the „pancake“ and make it even, I used @garritytools T6! 👍🏼• .
This little, round-bellied tortoiseshell bowl is an experiment with @richmond_art_school's new shino glaze. And, another first, this was fired twice in reduction and then oxidation which has created these amazing colours and patterns of glaze. It's formed a crystalline web of pale grey over a toasty orange base with specks of metallic iron from the flecked clay showing through; it's almost like fire and ice coming together. Looking forward to trying this experiment again!
HELP!! What do YOU want to see in the next restock?
I've got a big blank canvas of cups, mugs, bowls and planters and I'd love your glazing suggestions! 🌈
The 'Rainbow' glaze combo cups (bottom row) from the last load are finding new homes quickly, many didn't even make it to the Shop! I think some of you are even making up your own little sets of different colours which is such a lovely idea. So would you like to see more of these? They had a base glaze of red, pink, purple or lime green last time. What other base glaze colour do you think could work? Would orange or yellow be too much do you think? 💚
The 'Green Goddess' glaze combo mugs (top right) and on this gorgeous cup (top left) have proved really popular. How about more of these? And maybe an experiment with a deep rich red base or purple Maybe?....not sure about that....Hmmmm
The 'Purple Passion' glaze combo (middle top) latte/wine cups, mugs and bowls were popular too. Probably my favourite actually....more yes/no?
I've got a couple of surprises up my sleeve too, which I can't wait to reveal to you but you'll have to wait a week or so for that
Charity auction - as you know I try and auction pieces whenever I can to raise much needed funds for World Animal Friends and Friends of Ferals. A bowl I auctioned recently raised £30 for WAF and I'll be donating 25% of the proceeds at the Art House Christmas Market on 7th December (see previous posts) to Friends of Ferals in Sheffield. I love that my pottery sales can help animal rescue charities as well as keeping me in clay and glazes😻
So I'll put forward my suggestions to you for an auction piece when I've glazed everything and you can pick whichever is your favourite and we can help buy some more food or pay veterinary bills for the street kitties.
So come on everyone, get your thinking caps on and let's chuck some ideas into the glazing pot😁
I don’t have a great set-up at the moment to make more traditional looking wheel-thrown ornaments, so I made mini-tiny mugs to be tree ornaments instead 😇 #sosmol

I decided I just had to take one of babes from my last batch of mugs for a spin this morning. I’m so stoked with the results 🤩

Yesterday I unloaded the kiln and the Park Slope family got a lot bigger. I’ll be posting these to my website in the next couple of days. If you’ve been interested in any two toned black work have a look!

Glazed with Mayco Frost blue.
Clay body is G&S 933.
This is the first time the speckles are so visible when using this glaze! I don’t think I’ve done anything differently.
