It’s so easy to do one more thing, work five more minutes, answer one more email. It’s so easy to stay in a place of motion.
This weekend, we, miraculously, have nothing on the calendar. While I typically don’t work on weekends, I had planned a few hours to catch up. I wanted to clear out my inbox and crack into a big client project. I even had some content creation on deck. But then this morning came and I found so much joy in just being here.
Instead of getting down to business, I’ve stayed in my jammies, cuddled with my boys, watched hours (literally) of interviews from the Graham Norton show, and even read a magazine. This between the diaper changes, naps, and adorable coos. I’ve spent the day just being here with my boys. And it’s been lovely.
Love this unique and minimalist black and green workspace. It's not always necessary to have a bright Instagram-perfect works area to feel productive and ready to face the day. A clean desk and a little greenery can be enough.
At Oat, we like to move around to get out creative juices flowing. We have been following rh philosophy of changing up our environments to program our minds to be productive anywhere, since we're always on the go. However, there are always things we take with us — .

I highly recommend this book. Such great advice about narrowing your focus down to one thing and always asking this question:
“What’s the ONE Thing I can do, such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary?”
Try this and do your One Thing first thing in the morning regularly before other tasks eat away at your time.

My kids are the reason why I work so hard every chance I get.
I remember my mom doing the same for my sister and I when we were kids. We came from a single parent household and my Mom made sure my sister and I had what we needed. She worked hard to support us.
Her drive and ambition got her a great job and she never stopped trying to learn and evolve. (I guess that’s where I get it from😉) But whatever she did, she did it with her kids in mind. 💗
My mom is a strong, independent woman and I learned so much from her about life, being independent and to get whatever it is we want in life and that hard work and dedication always wins. 💜

There’s soooo much we can learn from tracking our time. If you’ve never tried it before, you should! It’s one of the best things you can do to improve your productivity!
Your success pack is a “group of people who are going to be instrumentally involved in helping you push your best-work project to done."⠀
I’m Start Finishing, Charlie Gilkey states that your success pack needs four types of people:⠀
* Guides – people that you deeply respect and will help lead you to the goal⠀
* Peers – people on your level who will regularly help you with your project⠀
* Supporters – people who will cheer you on to finish and do work for your project⠀
* Beneficiaries – people who will benefit from you finishing your best work⠀

Chances are you know Murphy's Law. But have you ever heard of Parkinson's Law? ⠀
Cyril Northcote Parkinson says that "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". To put it more simply: the more time you have to get a job done, the more time you use. ⠀
If you turn this around, it means that the less time you have to get a job done, the less time you use. Obviously every job or task requires a minimum amount of time (you can't write a book in 2 days), but you really shouldn't give yourself too much time for a task!⠀
How do you do this? Push your deadlines forward. Not only does this give you less time to do something, it also gives you more margin time, time for unforseen situations. The result? More productivity, less stress.⠀

Seeing other people get things done, work consistently and passionately to achieve their goals, have more energy, be positive, turn unexpected challenges into opportunities... I LOVE THAT!!⠀⠀

I know this one’s gonna ruffle some feathers, but here’s the STONE-COLD TRUTH:
👉🏽All the planning, plotting, dreaming, and ideating in the world won’t make a dang difference in your life unless you become a master integrator.
And you’d agree with me that it’s not as easy as getting up and getting stuff done, yes?
If it were, we’d all be fully embodied and actualized versions of the dream we have in our heads!
So by all means, lay out your future in great detail. Get excited by it. Let the dream fuel you.
But do figure out how to get the most out of your time + energy in a given day.

Here’s how to get your team to create systems for you.
When you bring on a new team member don’t just delegate a task… delegate responsibility for the result.
For example, if you want someone to repurpose your content don’t just ask them to create a couple of social media posts. Give them responsibility for your content, for your content calendar, and your content schedule.
(This is absolutely something you can work up to as you trial someone new and they become familiar with your content strategy but having this intention and focus will have you handing off so much more, much quicker.)
Not only are they doing the work to take your podcast episode, or blog post, or video and create the content to share out on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, or YouTube… they also become responsible for the systems around that work.
They are the ones writing checklists, creating templates, and recording training videos. They are the ones updating the simple checklists you might have started because they need to remember different details.
As your team grows, your systems grow with them, and you’ve not had to do a thing!

Thank to have closed 2019 out very strong!
I am grateful for every successful month, and unsuccessful month because there is a lesson to be learned in both experiences.
I build my strengths, and when I see areas of weakness I then know exactly what I need to work on.
I never intend to brag or be arrogant, but appreciate the recognition for the hard work I do and continue to do.
My number one skill set is productivity. I have learned key characteristics, activities, and strategies then induce productivity.

I’m pulling together some new info for my upcoming workshop on mindful energy management! Everything from mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) practices to productivity tools and tactics. It’s so fun to combine the two worlds!
And, of course, Penny’s helping me “sniff out” what’s most important.
The local workshop runs Feb 2 at @lezabeeyoga’s sweet yoga barn. After the event, I’ll create an online version too so my non-local friends and followers can benefit.
Stay tuned because Feb is going to be jam packed (2 workshops coming up, a 3-day online summit, and some new life + business coaching training in Vancouver)! As much as I love my work, I am fully ready to indulge in two days off—good books, hot baths, long walks, and pancakes. Always.

Do you have clients that are sabotaging your productivity? 😣
Maybe it started with a few interactions or comments from your client that you felt were a little off . . . 🤔
But, as time passes on you can feel the negativity escalating and affecting your work not only with this client but with others and in your overall disposition. 😓

Do you keep the client out of fear and the financial obligation or let them go?
Ultimately, it’s YOUR business and YOU get to decide what’s best for you, but before shrugging this off and just continuing with them without second thought let me invite you to consider a few questions:
What is it costing you to keep them? 🤯
After all, emotions are the FUEL for our work. 🔥
And NOT all emotions propel work forward. 🚀
In fact, studies show that people who experience more positive emotions consistently have higher levels of performance. 🎯
So what kind of emotions are you experiencing with your clients? 🤷🏽
Sometimes being able to discern them and make decisions accordingly is harder than it sounds. 🧗🏽
And yes . . . as you can see, productivity goes FAR beyond managing your time.
This is a hidden productivity pitfall that I help many of my clients overcome. 💥

To be productive, you need to know yourself first. If you can work hours on end without distractions, that's great.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most people need to take breaks though so if you are like me, factor in all the breaks and self-care slots before you start the day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once those are in your day planner, start adding work-related tasks. When you work, make sure you don't get distracted though!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The whole point of taking good breaks is so that you don't think about anything else while you work.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
