Our month in Mexico was awesome! We stayed the first week in a all exclusive resort, where Rob and I got deathly sick.. good thing they had a 24 medical where I got my first penicillin shot since I was 10! We sat by the pool and the kids swam for days! Our next leg was beach front in Sayulitas, a favorite! Surf was awesome the town was epic and the beach service and shopping was perfect!! Then spent the last of the month in an Airbnb w awesome internet and got to go explore more of Puerto Vallarta and surrounding areas. We took a few boat tours w lip sync shows after snorkeling, beach days, and exploring. We saw the Flying Men of Papantla on the Malecón. Got stung by a bee and thought I was going to die..but was ok. We had such a great time w highs and lows but so grateful this is our life!!! #puertovallarta#lascaletas#yelapa#majahuitas#sayulita

@daniellecooper travels on the shoulders of giants: her parents. Her “Looking Back” story gives credit to the wanderers who came before her.
“As a daughter of a military man and a wanderlust mother who loves to explore, travel is embedded in my DNA.
Before I was born, my parents were already traveling to various places. Thanks to their military life they went from Europe and Asia to many states in the US.
With every trip they took a little and stored it away to share with me and my brothers so that our adventure could start to take shape and we would be excited to go out and explore through travel.
My mother always said that the world is out there for you to take hold of and make it your own! Go out and explore every corner, culture, scenery, and remember to go where the locals go because that’s how you’ll truly get to know someplace.
When I wasn't hopping on a plane to visit my dad and family, I was traveling to play basketball. The game took me all over, ultimately landing me in Germany to pursue my dream of playing professionally. Little did I know that that opportunity and living abroad would change my life so drastically, exposing me to the world of mens fashion.
Puerto Vallarta was another stop for my partner and I to celebrate my African American and her Guyanese heritage. The culture of Mexico provided a historical background and a way to be inclusive and celebratory with history. In our adventures, we always strive to find something or some place that can tie our culture to theirs.
I couldn't ask for better or stronger and supportive parents who built this foundation that I stand on. My parents and family have always believed and supported me every step of the way, continuing to push me to dream bigger and never stop exploring. #DeltaAmbassador#BlackHistoryMonth ”
Today I was reminded about the importance of not comparing yourself to others. I’ve never really been the jealous type, but I’ll admit that I’ve fallen short when it comes to comparing myself to people I don’t even know. In the age of social media, it really doesn’t help any. ~
I’ve realized a few things tho. You never really know what’s real or fake anymore. You never know where a person is in their journey or how long it took for them to get there, and you don’t see the struggles as much as you see the success. ~
If you want to accomplish anything in life you have to focus on you. Sure, you can look around, get inspired, take some notes, then come back to you. You have to be so tunnel vision to where the only thing you can see is the end goal. Constantly comparing yourself to anyone else is not gonna get you there. ~
There is so much I want to accomplish this year, and for a second I got down on myself because I started looking at what others have achieved. I had to snap back to reality. I know for a fact that God’s timing in my life is perfect. He knows what I need exactly when I need it. And I know as long as I keep focusing on me and my goals, everything will come to fruition. ~
I just wanted to send out a reminder to that person who may be a little down, who may not be where you want to be right now, who thinks someone else is doing better than you, to that person who is being extremely hard in themselves. I know the feeling, but I also know how it feels to come up out of it. How it feels to finally be so content with an area of my life that I can focus on achieving other goals. Read this then go look in the mirror. That person looking back at you is the only person you need to be concerned with, the only person that matters, your only competition. Put so much focus on making that person in the mirror happy that you don’t have time to even think about comparing yourself to someone else. You are all you have in this world, can’t nobody make you happy but you. Comparing yourself to the next person ain’t gonna do nothing but keep you down. Drown all that other stuff out and get to work. We got dreams to make come true. Let’s go. ❤️
