Laylas first training class was Saturday. There were 9 dogs in total, 3 were dog aggressive. Layla was the second best behaved, right behind a Belgian malnois puppy who had been through a puppy class previously. My girl caught on fast to any new request and so she was used as an example several times. Walked this beautiful soul with @cwdogwhisperer tips from the show. Zoë is an Australian Shepherd Great Pyrenees. It worked amazingly until a squirrel jumped on her head. I think it was a suicidal squirrel.
I saw an episode from season 4 on Caesar helping an Assuie-Pit using a herding stick. It worked great in combination with the clicker I've been using! For some reason she pulls harder with the collar around the base of her neck so we'll stick to her harness.
For a 75 pound dog not to pull me over is a miracle itself. I had 9 surgeries in 2018 to help me walk the way I am now. During that time my puppy wasn't trained because I couldn't walk very well and my family was worried about my wellbeing. The techniques have been very helpful, more so than the wasted money on dog training books. She is now 2 and is very happy that we made our 3 mile walk in an hr, a mile stone I could not have accomplished without Caesar's great tips throughout the show.
I hope I can apply similar techniques to her sister, River, who is insecure dominant. She was hit by a car after backing out of her harness while on a walk a few months ago. She had very mild injuries, a few stitches here and there, but the once skiddish of few things dog is now afraid of almost everyone who comes in contact with her, including my brother, who lives in the same house with her. I haven't been able to walk her yet. She pulls so hard and zones out and won't listen. She is less afraid of women than she is men, and children you can hang it up. Her sister, Zoë, loves everyone but when I walk her with River, they both become insecure dominant. Luckily River has had no indication that she wants to bite anyone. But she will not even come to new people with food. I'm really worried about her. I cannot socialize her with other dogs either. She cowers, barks and backs away. I know Aussies are very verbal dogs, but she used to never bark and Zoë was the loud one. She is in constant fear everyday.
