ALRIGHT FOLKS THAT'S A WRAP! All my butterfly babes have gone & left the nest headed to Mexico to have fun without me 💔Say hi to my friends in Texas on your way through sweet girl! 😅
To celebrate our winged friends & the end of a rad #raisingmonarchs season we're having a lil fall sale until the 20th! So snag your chrysalis pin now! (So you can wear it in public & be asked about it by strangers & then proceed to talk their ear off about monarchs for 20 minutes like me) 🙃Spread the good word friends 🙂
Through art I find my escape to create and let go of all that’s around me. For those moments it’s all about what I am creating and nothing else.
This photo is one I took, developed the negatives and the print. It was a process from the camera, to a pitch black room to a dark room to watch the image come to life. I really enjoyed that time I had photographing and all in college.
Also those shoes are mine, I did wear them for a while and they are still in fairly good shape. I always wanted to go on pointe and soon found those shoes aren’t comfy at all. My feet are in good shape and I have those shoes as a reminder of the little girl who wanted to be a ballerina.
Meet Verdella 🧡 is she not the most beautiful?! Major props to whoever can guess what 90’s movie the name (originally Verdell, but then she was a girl 😬) came from. Nature is amazing, y’all. Thanks to @deannacat3 and @mrlundscience for being such great resources 💗 if you’re interested in raising monarchs definitely check them out.
Beyond thankful this pretty lady stuck around for a bit today before setting off on the long journey to Mexico! Maybe because of my rotten banana & honey water offerings. 🤷🏻♀️😂Only ONE more to go! P.S Happy full moon! Stay spooky friends! 😈🌕
So we raised and released 33 monarchs this season. Pretty successful for our first year I think. Hopefully our milkweed takes and we can do it again next year. It was alot of work but also extremely interesting, beautiful and satisfying. I highly recommend it, especially as a conservation effort.

Create your own sunshine ☀️ Because you are capable of so much more than you realize
This journey of 💯 has been amazing and the music 🎶 has been so uplifting that with all I’ve been through it’s been a wonderful pick me up.
Hard to believe that I’ve got just 25 left! Where’d the time go?
This guy eclosed yesterday but he’s still here, visiting every plant that survived the frost. We still have 3 chrysalises in a habitat plus one hanging on the milkweed plant... hope they’re going to do okay with the cold!!! #raisingmonarchs #monarchbutterfly #babyitscoldoutside
Meet Sunflower! She’s our new pet butterfly aka my little helper. We have been raising Monarchs this summer and have had the joy of releasing lots of beautiful butterflies but this one is here to stay due to a slight wing malformation causing her to be flightless. Which means I get to have some company while I paint. So if you order a sign in the near future, it might be kissed by a butterfly! 🦋
A little over a month ago, I had the great pleasure and privilege of being interviewed by our local/regional newspaper about my experience with raising #monarchs . A local journalist and friend had been following our journey through my posts and wanted to share it with our wider community. I was ecstatic! She came over to our house to see for herself the set-up we have with our habitat cosily placed on our kitchen trolley, in front of a window, and got to see first hand how it’s all done. Then, as seen in this photo, we took a pic of yours truly in front of our new waystation. Unfortunately, our pupating monarchs were too camera shy to make an appearance while she was visiting. But, I was still able to send her some good pics when one emerged later that day. Both a video and article were published where I gave a condensed but concise explanation of the monarch cycle, how to raise them and why it’s important to protect and help the species prosper. What a huge win for raising awareness?! But then I was floored when I saw that our story made the front page! 😍 It goes to show that what we are all working towards is indeed making a huge difference in people’s lives. It is humbling and deeply touching to know that our efforts are being seen and that people are taking a new interest in this species. I got many messages from people who saw the article and my husband hears from at least one person a day that says they love what we are doing. I’ve even been dubbed as Madame Monarque, which is very cute. 💗🦋 It’s opened a whole new realm for us. I am proud to be part of this growing community and feel very blessed to have this experience. Big thanks to Annie, the awesome journalist who put this subject at the forefront of our regional news and gave monarchs an important plateforme for their cause to be heard. 💚
“Show me who you are
The person I know is
Hiding behind the wall
You put up to protect yourself
It can't stay up forever
There is a time to let it crumble”
I let that part of me hide for a while, until I let something go that was holding me back. Once it was released, it’s as if something inside me opened back up again. That wall behind some of my creativity opened up. It was a beautiful moment.
This journey of 💯 has really brought me more in touch with my creative side. The side that longs to draw again and turn blank pages into works of art. I’ve loved that so much and have been blessed to find that part of me again.
We love monarch butterflies! So we've made a whole collection of prints, stickers, buttons, and enamel pins based on these beautiful creatures!🦋🐛 It has been so great meeting people that have a special connection to these butterflies. Monarchs can be a good introduction to caring for the environment and how it takes a whole continent to help protect a fragile species!🦋🐛🌎
