Today I'm #grateful for @askinnertheatre !I don't know how many years of Saturday mornings we spent having Saturday Brunch in Planet Coffee but we just figured out how do do it by video call! So I'm grateful for such a good friend for so many years, and the fact that even after not seeing each other for quite a while, we can just pick up where we left off. Amy, you are awesome!
Day 28 #marchmeetthemaker
This has certainly proved to be a March for upsetting plans.
My #marchmeetthemaker post plans are like all the rest - overtaken by Life in Lockdown, and I’m limping to the finish line, like so many of my Instafriends.
However, it doesn’t do to dwell on the bad news, so I’m sharing this optimistic sentiment from an @eastofindiauk card I keep handy to remind myself that plans may not work out the way I imagined, but sometimes life brings something even better along. For me in the last few days it’s been time in my garden.
Hold on to your optimism, folks ❤️ #planning#optimism#reasonstobecheerful
Life is all about learning to handle uncertainty. Tolerance for uncertainty is a muscle, and training it makes us more resilient. We can do this one day at a time, by doing what we can with what we have, with gratitude for today and hope for tomorrow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As long as we are alive, we have reasons to be hopeful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the meantime, while workloads are higher, kids are at home needing quality time and our previous routines may have gone out of the window, a little bit of 'writing things down' can go a long way towards processing what is going on and bringing perspective. Some journals we love:
-the Five Minute Journal (paper and app)
-Morning Pages (app)
-the Happiness Planner (paper)
-the High Performance Planner (paper)

Reasons to be Cheerful:
Our good friend and very fine artist Jacki is an Australian born artist, printmaker, papermaker, former lecturer at the Glasgow School of Art and a founding member of the Glasgow Print Studio and the Paper Workshop, Glasgow.
Her beautiful cast handmade paper works never fail to come alive in the sun. Thank you Jacki; stay safe and well! X

The last three months have been incredibly difficult for me, to loose a business that I loved, and lived so much has been heart breaking. However, in the scheme of things it’s fairly trivial. I’m relieved it’s finally over and looking forward to reclaiming time with my beautiful family. Saxon Shore faces challenging times but I wish it and it’s incredible staff the very best.

Reasons to be cheerful. Day 9. Stargazing. I’ve always loved gazing at the night sky. I used to go for evening walks with my Dad and he’d tell me about the constellations. Maybe that was why I became an astrologer, my fascination with the stars, what does it all mean? I still love gazing to the heavens and we’re currently being blessed by a beautiful sight as the crescent moon 🌙 draws close to Venus. The photo was taken last night & they’ll be close again tonight with the Moon above Venus #reasonstobecheerful#daynine#stargazing
72 acts performing via Facebook live from 2pm today.
To get involved search "Rock the Lock Down" on Facebook and join in.
I plan to have this playing LOUD and rocking round my house...plus a school friend is playing at about 4.30 today 🤩
#lockdown#reasonstobecheerful Part 1 - time with the kids exploring the local area at dusk; Part 2 - Friends, colleagues, clients are genuinely pleased to see you on video calls; Part 3 - a greater choice of takeaways than ever before as quality restaurants enter the market, thanks @lussopizza Part 4 - er, er, er..............???
Reasons to be cheerful #6 : Autumn quinces.
My house smells incredible at the moment. I’m slowcooking quinces straight from the garden, with honey, rosemary, cardamom and black pepper. The warm heady fragrance has made its way into every corner of the house and its a wonderful smell to be stuck at home with.
Quinces conjure up such a wholesome, old-fashioned feel for me. They’re not a fruit I grew up with, but after moving to the Barossa Valley in South Australia, quince trees are quite a common sight here. I’m lucky enough to have one in my garden and every autumn I’m blessed with a bounty of these golden beauties.
Quince vodka and roast quinces with verjuice, spice and citrus peel also on the agenda for this weekend. Yum!
Another unexpected bonus of Covid-19 house arrest....the relentless litter I usually have to pick up when lame scrotes drop it and it drifts into our front garden has disappeared! The streets seem blissfully clean! #reasonstobecheerful#pickitup

Reasons to be cheerful Part 3 - day 4. Heard my first chiffchaff of the spring, and Mr Q saw it in flight, on St Anne’s Hill while taking our daily walk. Wonderful to hear that song again. I should say straight away that the photo is not mine but came from www.wildlifetrusts.org. Like most members of the Old World warbler family, the little blighters are really hard to spot, being small and brown and in the case of the chiffchaff, preferring treetops. And if you do manage to see one, the only way you tell it apart from a Willow Warbler is if it is singing! #reasonstobecheerful#chiffchaff#warblers#signsofspring#springbirds#midhurst#southdownsnationalpark
Ten good things about social isolation, in no particular order. Feel free to share some of yours too.
1. Not wearing a bra for the foreseeable.
2. Ditto makeup.
3. ‘Zoom’ing my friends for wine nights (might be kind and put on bra and makeup for these events, might not)
4. Buying something online from a small business (because I know how happy it makes me when others buy from mine).
5. Ordering take away from an independent business (because who needs to stock pile when these guys have our backs?)
6. Attempting to balance self-destruct with self-improvement whilst self-isolating (I need to work out some ratio of home workouts to glasses of wine)
7. Taking care of my seedlings daily, instead of forgetting in the usual rush of life and finding them withered.
8. Books and puzzles. I love seeing how many of you are also puzzle geeks and I’m finding time away from screens helps lessen anxiety.
9. Helping others. In any way that is safe to do so.
10. Having a bloody good clean and declutter (but not while it’s sunny, garden jobs all the way right now). BUT all of this assumes I stay well. A couple of my very best friends in Bristol have got the virus and they are feeling really, really unwell and have done for over a week. This situation is no fun at all for them. They are self isolating and their families are ok at the moment but my heart goes out to my girls and I really hope they feel better soon. Do the right thing people, stay home xx
Not a lot going on inside the studio today, but the blossoms in the garden are just asking to be photographed! 🌸

We are 1 today!
One of our lovely customers emailed us this photograph this morning, of our little shop many years ago.
Today we are reflecting on our achievements over the past year. It has been such amazing journey for us being part of, and serving, the community in which we live.
It’s easy to take things for granted.. like meeting new people everyday; having a laugh over a cup of coffee with a regular; sharing a glass of wine with friends; winding up Unis the DPD delivery driver!
We can’t wait to get back to our little shop, but for now #stayathome people.

Let’s be honest, these are worrying times for all, and it’s easy to let it all get us down, but during this period it more important than ever to smile about the little things. So with that in mind, we want to know what’s making you smile at the moment?
We are loving seeing so many people coming together to help one another at such a difficult time, from the #NHS staff battling Covid-19 on the frontline, to @waspsrugby leading the #MakeTheCall campaign, and everyone in between. On a more personal note, we continue to be overwhelmed by the ongoing support for our campaign to #TackleTheStigma including this shot from the incredibly talented @sambaguleyart 🙌 and the amazing content coming from @goteammentalhealth (make sure you hit the link in our bio to check it out 👌).
Leave a comment below to let us know what’s made you smile recently 💚
