Years ago - 8 to be precise - St Kilda Mums helped a mum with a baby girl who had left a violent and abusive marriage.
She was alone in Australia - she and her husband had moved here not long before - and she had no family or friends.
He had discouraged any new friendships, seeking to isolate and further control her. The violence increased during pregnancy - which is something that is all too common.
Once it became unbearable and once she realised that she could not protect her daughter, she took a brave step and asked for help from an ex-work colleague. Together they planned her escape and she started over.
St Kilda Mums provided a cot for her daughter who was about one at the time - as well as clothing and other essentials.
The following Christmas, and every Christmas since, this mum has donated money to buy a new cot for another baby.
I just got the email notification and saw her name. I burst into tears, overwhelmed with emotion that this brave mother has now provided at least 8 safe places to sleep, dream and play for 8 babies she will never know. She is my hero. She is the rainbow after the storm. Please join her and make a donation to our Christmas Appeal this year via the link in our bio.

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
– Oprah Winfrey 💙 Please #StayHydrated#Healthy & #RecycleMore
My husband is jumping for joy as my hoarding rationale comes to fruition. I had been stockpiling show bags, shopping bags and shoe boxes for near on a year. Not for actual shopping but for packing my precious’sssss.
Made this kimono style wrap by upcycling my grandmother’s old chiffon scarf ♻️ 🔘
1. Every year 12 million tons of clothing ends up in landfills (95% of which could be reused or recycled) - which WE pay millions to build & millions to operate each year. 🗑
2. Approximately 3-4 pounds of CO2 are saved for every pound of clothing that is spared from disposal. 💭
3. One thrifted t-shirt can save up to 700 gallons of water, and a secondhand pair of jeans saves up to 1,800 gallons more. 💦
When we all make small changes, together we create a big impact. 🔘
Trees provide us with oxygen, shade, warmth, and protection. Give them the respect they deserve by using only what you need, recycling the excess, choosing sustainably produced products and planting trees or supporting those that do.
There are many ways in which plastic can enter the ocean, a main way being via garbage dumping. Plastic that is not recycled ends up getting dumped into the sea along with tons of other garbage, left to drift away in the currents and disperse. Popular fishing spots are actually pretty heavily polluted, all things considered, because fishing nets and lines get lost out at sea, never to be found (Tibbetts). From there, this plastic has the potential of breaking up into small pieces over time. These smaller pieces, or microplastics, then are more able to be swallowed by marine animals, and some microplastics are even small enough to float in through the gills of a fish (Kurtela and Nenad). But this doesn’t mean that the ocean is doomed. Changes are already being implemented around the world. Ocean Conservancy created the Trash Free Seas Alliance to innovate new methods of eliminating ocean plastic waste (Tibbetts), but that’s not all. By switching to the use of metal straws and reusable products, and by recycling the plastic that we do use, we all can make a difference.
With the festive season just around the corner🎄it’s time to consider eco friendly options ♻️ @waste_free_warrior has the perfect solutions for sustainable gift giving 🎁🌿💚

Anyone who knows us (especially in the last year) will know that we wear the same things over and over and over again. We’ve known about how detrimental fast fashion is to the environment for a while and approx. 18 months ago, committed to making a lifestyle change.
We promised to go clothes shopping no more than 3 times a year, unless for a special occasion/event. (Not perfect yet, but it was a start)
We found other amazing alternatives like renting, borrowing from friends and family and more obviously, wearing old clothes.
Water usage + pollution, unsustainable levels of waste and carbon emissions are only few of the many ways fast fashion is harming the planet and we will keep trying to move away from it and towards a more sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle. #slowfashion#daringchangers
Coca-Cola is the worst plastic polluter in the world, two years in a row, according to an audit conducted by Break Free From Plastic. 72,541 volunteers participated in cleanups across 51 countries, collecting and sorting over 47,500 pieces of trash! Coca-Cola brands accounted for the most significant amount of trash with 11,732 plastics, compared to Nestlé, in the #2 spot at 4,846 plastics.
