Make is a South African label that views the world from a different perspective. They use what is available, what others throw away and what makes a difference in creating their limited run pieces.
They place a heavy focus on local production, working with skilled African craftsmen, as well as on the environment, recycling plastic waste to create new garments.
Make's t-shirts are made from a blend of cotton and recycled plastic and carry strong messaging on its prints.

3 reasons I like this from @garconwines
1. the bottle is made from 100% recycled plastic.. Going way beyond simply being ‘recyclable’. With a much lower carbon footprint than glass 🌍❤️
2. It fits through a letter box and stores nicely in a fridge.
3. It tastes decent.
Thanks guys! (I’ve been doing lots of work on recycled plastic for work @gemmahitchon.pr and our paths crossed so they kindly sent me a bottle 🥰)

Recycled single-use plastic and silver. .
So, I started making this neckpiece back in early October 2019, hoping that it would be finished and ready in time to take it to @art.and.york that same month. I didn’t quite manage that. 😂
And so, it has been sitting on my bench all these weeks later, whilst the busy winter show circuit began and the Christmas orders kicked in. I finally managed to get it finished and set just a few weeks ago - and it’s quite strange and serendipitous to think that it’s very first outing might now be @art.and.york in October 2020. As all my summer events are now cancelled and life is not quite as we know it, I am really hoping that this wonderful event can take place as planned in October. It’s great to have something on the horizon to prepare for and look forward to. 🤞🤞🤞🌈🌈🌈 Hope everyone is doing well, keeping positive and managing to do what makes you feel happy on a daily basis- be it work, rest or play. I’m so thankful to be able to have the choice.
Throwback to living in Vanuatu and the enjoyment I got from the leisurely 35 drive to the Mummas Market to buy the seasonal fruit and vegetables.
I formed relationships with many women from the different villages who’d work tirelessly to care & harvest their produce. Our plans to build there again are on hold for now and this time in isolation gives you more time to reflect on all the wonderful things you have in life and Vanuatu is one of them. We will be back. 🌴🍌🍆🍍🥥 .
“Adidas has taken approximately 1.8 million plastic bottles and turned them into a sustainable football field.
A typical turf field uses a large amount of virgin plastics and re-ground rubber.
James Carney, vice president of global brand strategy for Adidas, told CNN that the sustainable field that the company built was made from plastic bottles sourced from remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines -- all with the goal of preventing it from polluting the ocean.” @cnn@adidas
