SOME SERIOUS THINKING (and help) REQUIRED
Our plans 🏗 are too big for our budget 💷 .
Renovators/self builders... did you push your selves in terms of budget/sqm and did it work out?
We’re going to manage the build ourselves but not sure how much this will actually save? Any tips very gratefully received! We’re over budget before we’ve started. .
Our upstairs radiators have been upgraded to a more stylish design. The old ones were plain white and had roughly about 25 layers of paint on them 😭. We got ours from hot interiors and we went for the single panel Archos Nexus in brushed steel - We purchased two, one for each bedroom. They are approx 826mm (L) 600mm (H)... They fit perfectly and we are very happy with the upgrade ✨

If you’ve been here a while you’ll know our couch was due to be delivered the week lockdown commenced, and we’ve had to wait an extra 2 month for it.
We’ve had camping chairs, lounge garden chairs, a camping sofa/bed and now a real like sofa!
It’s part of the Nero range from @scssofas, we went for the four seater and the XL chair in chocolate, and the best part... they all recline.
As it’s been super sunny today we haven’t actually sat on them much so a night in front of the TV is a must.
Renovation day! In today’s episode of #thisoldhouse . The prior owners decided that tearing down the walls in the laundry room leaving a beam exposed (insert last pic)in a weird open space was a good idea and it just didn’t look or feel right so today we are closing it off again! I already have the tile I’m gonna use for the floors after I remove the old tile and I found the perfect wallpaper for this project! Coming up next is our bathroom vanity and soon enough it will allll come together! #renovatingourhome#laundryroommakeover
Back at it again with the moodboards this afternoon to try and decide on a sofa colour 👀 we’re set on the Eden sofa by @sofaworkshop but still debating colours...think we’re a little bit obsessed with this pink shade that @thehouseoverthebridge has 💗✨
It’s been a busy first week and can’t believe how much we have been able to get done. We decided to gut as much as we can whilst we aren’t living in the house and it’s starting to feel more like our home 🏡
No renovation progress but a picture of me, for those, who like me, like to know who these beautiful interiors and homes belong to. It’s also my wedding anniversary, so any excuse to share a picture of me looking a lot less ‘lockdown’ than I do now!
It’s the weekend! Which means BBQ’s and beers in the garden! 🙌🏼 It’s far from finished... It was so over grown that after tackling it, it now feels twice the size!
The plants, trees and shrubs have grown so much (we have 5 fruit trees too) with the recent weather that it’s starting to resemble the before photos! 🥴

A few weeks ago, I polled IG for whether to change our front door. I was 100% for, Josh was 98% against (because of cost and we have a sneaky side door from when the property was two flats). But, value and cost are two sides of the same coin! And as Oscar Wilde said ‘a cynic knows the price of everything and the value of nothing...’
Needless to say, I (and the IG family) won, and he buckled because I found a beauty; after all the effort, cost, and sheer joy of what’s behind the door, it’d be a shame to let the first thing people see let it down. And the uPVC door was super narrow and a bit rickety and it’s fan light was half the size of what it could be (currently covered by MDF at the moment). .
So, the door was a bargain at £180 and had been salvaged off another Victorian house in Worcester. You can see from the video the size difference and how we can increase the fanlight which we’ll get glass sandblasted with the number (we have always lusted after those).
It had 7 layers of paint on it and, although it’s not a particularly intricate door, you can see in the first photo how much depth and beauty there is and we are so happy to be able to restore it and reinstate it in its new home. We’re painting it in @farrowandball#railings . But it’ll be a few weeks before that happens (too many other things happening in the house and can’t risk it being damaged!)
Will keep you posted!

Front of the house with the replacement windows. Can't wait to get the front door replaced and the side door turned in to a window! ❤️ Please ignore the scruffy garden 😳
DURING: Study reno. Our smallest room in the house, so small you cannot fit a bed in it stood quietly awaiting it’s reno for four months. We stored everything in it. Suitcases, clothes and hangers( we have no build-in cupboards). Even the Hamster and her cage were placed there. Then along came the Corona Isolation period and Josef needed a study ASAP. Yay. The study got priority quicker than I thought. The water pipes got sealed off, basin removed, tiles were removed, walls plastered and new dry wall installed. Only then could we start the painting phase. #renovating#renovatingourhome#zwijndrecht#dordrecht#drechtsteden#renovatie#1920s#1920shouse
MARRIED TOMORROW; so this week I’ve been a little all over the place and not as active as I usually am and it’s simply because I was due to get married tomorrow. I’m currently sat outside covered in paint thinking keeping busy in the garden would keep my mind off it, but then I just thought, why should I keep my mind off it? It was a day I was going to marry my best friend, have a room full of loved ones supporting the couple we are and a day to really give a middle finger to all the challenges we have been through. We have never been more in love, more connected, more supported by one another and I still want to celebrate that tomorrow with Jacob. Okay, it’s not as easy as I’m making it out and I have shed too many tears but it’s all we can do, spend time together and remember where we have come to and also who we are as a team. Hey, the irony is that I’m currently using a ‘bride squad’ paper cup to hold my paint 🤷🏻♀️🙈 thank you all as well so much, for the follows, support, likes, comments, it honestly warms my heart and I am always talking to Jacob about how nice you guys are. Your support for me little home means the world to me 🖤 sending you all love, if you have a puppy please cuddle them for me, and I will be back on Sunday after having the day off tomorrow!
Nearly all the wood work complete around our window. The original window surround is in such a mess. Lots of upvc buried in the wall. It’ll need more mouldings to go around this. Trip to @bandq_uk is needed! You ever know, we may get it painted this weekend too. 🤞 another slow day as work was busy! .

How do you guys feel about rugs in kitchens? My idea was always to add a Persian-ish runner rug in this space but I’m being my usual indecisive self and can’t bring myself to pick one! Going to leave it like this for now and see if I end up coming across one that stops me in my tracks 🤞

This might just be my favourite view of the extension 😍❤️ (Ignore the patchy floorboards - stepped all over them after mopping so left loads of marks 🤦🏼♀️ #fail )
Thought I’d give you a glimpse of the extension in its current state! Lots left to do but it’s slowly starting to take shape 🤗 Love spending time in here already!!

One of the things I love the most about this room is the light we get! It’s south-facing so there’s basically sunshine coming through all day long 😍 I haven’t really paid attention to it but I guess that means we’ll have the same thing downstairs in the loving room, which I’m super excited about! Just means we have to try and make the back of the house as bright as possible seeing as it’s all north-facing 😬 Any tips?

Worktop might be a little messy....but I love this shot of the kitchen 🤗 It’s feels so bright and airy in here, I’m definitely glad we went with lighter colours 👍

• Hello sunshine • What a lovely day to venture out to the New Forest. We are off for a night away in Lyndhurst for a birthday celebration (not mine). We are going to one of those quintessentially English hotels that the Americans go nuts for. Dark wood panelling, mahogany furniture, velvet sofas in the bar, clashing carpets and curtains everywhere you look, you know the type. It looks lovely in the photos but I suspect it may be good lighting and photoshop expertise. So lets see if it really is '17th century charm' or if it’s actually stained carpets and peeling wallpaper from the last refurbishment in 1986. No doubt I’ll have a reveal on my stories later! Hope you all have a lovely, relaxing weekend 😘 #birthdayboy#newforest#sunshine
