Kitting up the spring sampler designed by #littledovecrossstitch found in Cross Stitcher Magazine, issue 343. Planning to start stitching it soonish with @lovetheknitlife. Decided to dye my own 32 ct Zweigart. I ended up with some bright pink specks, but I still lurrrve it 😍. Used leftover dye mix to pretty up some floss too.
So excited to share the first dress in the Elements Collection, Air! This ethereal and minimalist costume is a light as the skies! Custom dyed mesh and lycra base with nude mesh insets project a barely there lightness with lots of movement and loft. Simple AB and crystal rhinestones highlight the skater as she glides across the ice.
Be sure to check back to see the rest of the Elements Collection: Earth, Fire and Water!
Put the lime in the coconut 🥥 .
I guarantee you’ll be singing that line literally all day if you recognize this song. It always reminds me of midnight margaritas from Practical Magic- a 90s must watch because it’s so freaking weird. This bright green ombré was so fun to make. I don’t get to do this color very often, so I’m gonna milk this one for all it’s worth. 💚
UPDATE ON SOFA: Tone on tone black velvet sofa? Cool, cool, and more cool. Fur sticks to it like Velcro? totes.cool. 😐 How did I miss this when it was cinnabar pinkish copper? I dyed the cushion covers with the hot water method and the sofa body via the holy shit do not do that method. 🤔🤔🤔 #sofasagga#ritdye#dontdyeyoursofa

It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus! 👻 Dyeing another round of these tonight. ✨
I’m dyeing over here. 😂 Faux shibori dyed a batch of shirts this weekend. (Faux because I used @ritdye instead of actual indigo.) I love how they turned out! 💙 #whatjuliemade

got that blueberry yum yum 💙
All I want right now are some blueberry muffins and I don’t understand why Grubhub doesn’t offer muffin delivery in Norfolk. Seriously, someone plz open a muffin bakery ASAP. I would make my own, but I specifically do not keep sugar in the house for this reason. You can ask my husband, I used to be terrible about making cake batter and just eating it straight from the bowl when I was feeling hungry. #healthychoices Now that I’ve gone on a tangent about baked goods, what’s your fave muffin flavor?!
Medium blue wash denim jkt. Dyed it using #ritdye in sunshine orange. Going to dip one more time to lock in the color evenly.Heavier fabrics like denim require more water and a whole bottle of @ritdye for maximum consistently. I’m digging it already. 🧡
Waiting for Anakin like... ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
To the amazing Disney photographer who did this photo shoot with me, thank you for making my Disney trip so Magical!! I would have asked for your insta, but there is no Instagram on Batu.
I just completed a project and I love how it turned out!
You can see the before picture and after picture.
Before—was an old, dirty chair my neighbor was throwing out. It was literally sitting on the curb next to the garbage can. I sat in it and it rocks and swivels. I asked her if there was anything wrong with it and she said, “no.”
So, I dragged it into my house.
I tried cleaning it with a Bissell wet vac but it had too many curves and nooks and crannies.
So, I had the bright idea to use Rit dye on it. Only I would have to spray it evenly and keep the water hot while I sprayed it.
So, my next idea was just to get a slipcover for it but I couldn’t find it in purple so I purchased a cream colored one and dyed that.
Wah lah—a one-of-kind light purple chair perfect for my writing office! #repurposedfurniture#repurposed#projects#ritdye#slipcoveredchair#purple#authorsoffice#writerslife
DIY success! I found a Madewell dress I loved, but didn’t want to spend $75. Instead I found a NWT white eyelet dress at a consignment shop for $9, and picked up some Rit dye. Perfect dress for fall! #ritdye#diy
Fourth "mending" project for the day in the books. Dyed this old Hank of orange Cascade Heritage black. Looks like it held ok, but we'll see how bad it is to wind. Not getting any bleeding or color loss at the moment, so that's cool.
I've always found that the title "art consultant," falls short in describing what it is that I do. I'd much prefer art connector, art educator, or simply a "people person" (can that be a profession?!). When an artist is paid to translate a clients' vision into a work of art, I feel that I've done my job. Art consulting to me is fostering relationships with artists, building trust with new clients, and setting positive intentions for the future of art-buying. That natural, humanistic process is what I call Holistic Collecting. I believe this photo exemplifies my philosophy on this crazy profession I've chosen. Keep saying yes to creativity by purchasing artwork in whatever capacity you can... it truly makes a difference.

New wall hanging!
The fact my bed doesn’t have a headboard was driving me visually crazy - too much empty space.
I made this wall hanging to fill that space and I think it’s doing a decent job! Swipe for close-up and materials.
Made with cotton yarn purchased on Amazon, copper piping from Home Depot, and RIT fabric dye from Hobby Lobby (or almost any craft store/online). Ignore my weird yellow pillows that ruin the aesthetic, I’m in the market for new bedding :p
Definitely wanna make more of these and play with different dye colors and techniques!

I don’t normally like flippers... but this guy? Pardon my french, but holy damn. This is good.
In preparation for meeting with a friend/custom commission work client this weekend, yesterday I decided to do some dye tests. She wants a warm, buttery yellow for her custom dirndl for Octoberfest and other functions, so I started making test swatches for her to see and pick out exactly which shade of yellow she has set her heart on. As I am making this custom dirndl out of silk shantung, I got my vinegar and Rit out, then started adding drops of Lemon Yellow Dye to the pot to test each gradation in color saturation. After I tested the Lemon Yellow, I made short pots of Golden Yellow and Tangerine Orange, and tested more swatches as well as played with some ombré effects just for fun. I dried, pressed, and labeled each sample for further reference, then pinned them into a swatch book. These pictures are a little dark, but I’m pretty sure I’ve come up with the sample that she is going to like based off the pictures she showed me. Super stoked to make something so fun and pretty for her to wear. More to come! #ritdye#ritdyelemonyellow#ritdyeandvinegaronsilk#silkshsntungdyeswatches#customdyedsilk#yellowsilk#customdirndl

Finished product! So after using @ritdye Dye More here’s what we have. The outsole took the dye amazingly well and I can’t be happier with the results. The upper turned into a really nice bluish gray which is bad ass. So I got the pot to a slow rolling boil which was about 200 degrees, added a squirt of dish detergent and two full bottles of the dye. I’m not sure if I went too heavy on the dye but hey... it worked. #adidas4d#alphaedge4d#ritdye#sneakerhead#sneakersnstuff
Have you ever had an article of clothing that you always pushed to the back of your closet like @fashflood? She had a white cotton thrifted dress that had lost meaning for her. A little Golden Yellow dye and she now has some renewed sunshine in her life. ☀️☀️☀️ Do you have anything you’ve been meaning to dye? Let us know in the comments below! #ritdye

Another awesome custom dye job on this Honey Badger Flipper.
Some of you may know I’m a part time photographer, well I recently collaborated with @ritdye [ #ad ] They sent me their pink dye to try and I decided to re-vamp one of the swaddles I use for newborn photography, since the pink was starting to fade. Thanks to @ritdye it’s now a vibrant pink and I’m so happy with it! The process was so easy and fun! #ritdye
