do you guys ever write the best caption ever and then your app crashes and you lose all of it? yup, that just happened.
if you’ve been wondering “way to tease us CaldPoppyCo then disappear on us like that” or you may be saying “I forgot you guys were there” 😂 then it’s okay. we're no different than the rest of the world who was impacted by covid.
we live 10 hours apart and getting on a plane isn’t the easiest or best at the moment. but somehow we keep the fire alive (now we sound like an old married couple). here’s a little update on what we’ve been up to:
my main squeeze @kelseawinchell , the floral artist, created some beautiful - scratch that - STUNNING florals for @kaseywinderphoto one day shootout retreat. and let. me. tell. you. it was gorrgeeoouusssss. as the other half to this duo, I came to help her in her craft: to forge some greenery and paint some flowers. yeah, you read that correctly - PAINT FLOWERS. we like to start our own trends over here but more on that later.
we’re going to try and be better at this because we create some magic, and we want to share it with the world ✨
Is it really only Tuesday? Cause I definitely feel like it should be Friday😬 I’ve got music blaring through my house in hopes that it will wake me up and motivate me to get some orders out 🥴😂
But aside from that, how about these colorful pendants?? I just finished a large batch of them for a local store restock and they just make me so happy! 💚🧡💜💙❤️
Serene & graceful is how I would describe this beautiful arrangement of hydrangea, scabiosa, roses, Bells of Ireland, astilbe, lisianthus and eucalyptus.
You can never go wrong with a neutral palette! .
This is always a strange time of year when the spring blooms and biennials have faded, but the summer annuals haven’t started yet. Flowers are scarce in the garden. We have been working on planting lots of perennials to fill the gap but they take a couple of years (or more) before we can harvest them. Looking forward to the years where we will have lots of blooms during this time of the year, but also savoring the slight slow down that allows us to get some other tasks done.

Fun Fact: Characterized by large flowering heads that closely resemble those of sunflowers, gerbera daisies come in a vibrant rainbow of colors. Bright pink, snow white, sunny yellow and ruby red are just a few of the gorgeous colors that these happy flowers boast. The gerbera currently ranks as the fifth most popular flower in the world behind roses, carnations,
chrysanthamums and tulips.
It rained here yesterday for the first time in nearly a month. Although we have installed irrigation on most of our farm, I lost a few rows of flowers in areas that didn’t have it. After a couple of weeks it became clear that it wasn’t even worth my time to keep watering those by hand, so they became a lost cause. A cover crop I planted a month ago, just before our last rainfall, never germinated due to the lack of moisture. The soil had become cracked in some places and pure dust in others. Flower bloom times got set back. Rain and water are truly a blessing and both me and my flowers am so thankful to finally have more of it. I imagine most people’s lives don’t depend on the weather- but mine seems to revolve around every forecast. I try to think of it as more of a blessing than a curse, but sometimes it’s tough. After this early drought and heatwave, I can’t help but think about just how lucky are we to live in a place where water, the worlds most precious resource, literally rains down from the sky. #magic

We have some GREAT NEWS! We will be returning to the Brighton Farmers Market! 🎉 Now that the restrictions have loosened a bit, we hope our first week back will be the second week in July. We will keep you posted. Are you guys as excited about this as we are?! @brightonfarmers
We have quite a few new followers here so I’m just taking a minute to say hello 👋🏻 My name is Jenny and I started this flower farm out of some desperation to find meaning in a world that I had a hard time fitting into. I’ve held a slew of different jobs in my life and none of them were satisfying to me unless it involved hard physical labor and being outside. Computer work is horrible for my headspace and I just always feel happier getting my hands dirty. Luckily for me, about three months after I met my (now) husband, he stumbled upon a crappy abandoned farm. The place was a total disaster, complete with a crumbling foundation wall and chipmunks living in the kitchen. So naturally, we bought it and moved right in. 🙃 At first people called us crazy, but we have come to love our newly rejuvenated space! We renovated the house and are slowly bringing the land back to life. I really wanted to do something with the land we had purchased, and I had been farming for my whole life so flower farming came as a natural fit. It was a messy and slow start (it still feels that way!), but we have come a long way and are proud of how much we have accomplished. A lot of people like to tell me that I live “their dream life,” I suppose because it involves lots of flowers. But I always laugh because what you see here on Instagram is only 1% of it. Most of my days are filled with time on my hands and knees, digging in the dirt and sweating profusely in the sun, always when I am not working my other off-farm job. I love it, but it’s definitely not what most would call “a dream.” I’ve been criticized before for being “too honest” on here by discussing how difficult it is to run a small farming business, but I think it’s really important to get glimpses of reality on this dreamy little app. We grow about an acre of cut flowers for table bouquets, our CSA (subscription) program, and weddings. My husband and I work really hard to grow really beautiful flowers that make people like you really happy. I love to see your reaction to the beautiful blooms that we are so privileged to be able to grow. Thanks for coming along for the ride 💐

The weather forecast is beautiful this weekend. We are excited to transplant fall flowers in the soft sun and do lots of weeding around the farm, which is honestly one of the most satisfying tasks around here! 😋 Weeding: do you love it or hate it?
As I reflect on the current state of the world it reminds me of the passing fads of seasonal flowers.
We obsessed over daffodils and tulips and drooled over fluffy ranunculus and now we fawn over the coveted peonies which too quickly fade away. They all have their spotlight but then we quickly move onto the next flower obsession.
We've had crisis after crisis lately and too quickly we use a hashtag, make a post, and move onto the next thing. We forget to keep caring about the one before. And, man, it's been a shit storm lately and there's a lot going on but we can't just box up one crisis, store it away and forget about it. We gotta keep fighting for all of them.
Those fad flowers don't just bloom and then we forget about them. We have to take care of the plant for the rest of the year, even when they're not in the spotlight.
I have been putting in some seriously long days in the field for the past week, transplanting my little heart out. This time of year there is always a giant push to get the first tender annuals planted out and every year it feels so overwhelming. It’s also a real kick in the pants physically after a long winter. 😂 As my husband constantly has to remind me... the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Ain’t that true. And then eventually that elephant gives you incredible gifts like this rainbow of ranunculus and tulips ❤️💜🧡💛🤍💚💙. The weather is going to be perfect today, and I have a limited amount of time since I’ll be delivering these all afternoon, so I better get back at it. Have a wonderful day, friends. 💞
15 WEDDINGS • 8 MONTHS • 1 EXTREMELY HAPPY AND TIRED HEART
This little business has only been running for ✨8 months✨ and I’ve been blessed with the BEST BRIDES and not to mention all the AMAZING Artists and Vendors I’ve been able to work with.
Prior to starting this business I was confident that I’d one day be opening a Gelato Shop🍦 morphing two of my deepest passions of the Italian culture and Ice Cream. Little did I know that the Lord had this in store, and I couldn’t be more grateful for his timing and plan.
This year, my first year in business has been filled with countless hard nights, and days of doubt. I’ve had to learn how to balance finances and business licenses, and I’ve had moments of sheer awe that I get to spend my days doing the very thing that makes my heart skip a beat.
So I want to say from the deepest parts of my heart, “Thank you” to all the Brides and Families that took a chance on me and gave me the honor to create art with flowers for them.
And to my friends, and my family, who have gathered around me and poured out encouragement and prayed for me through this year. You are my people. You brought me through those hard moments of starting a business and you have pushed me to where I stand today, so THANK YOU. When you take a few seconds to encourage your people, you might be surprised to find out how much you will impact them. I can truly say that I made it through those 15 weddings because of the people in my life who saw this gift and cultivated it from within me even when I couldn’t see it. ❤️

Can we applaud locally grown flowers and the hard-working farmers who grow them? Floral designers in Western NY are so incredibly lucky to have the option to buy local flowers. But I’m going to share something that is on my mind: why aren’t these hard working men and women receiving credit? The wedding industry has gotten much better with crediting all the creatives involved, but it is not often I see credit going to the farmers. In my opinion, they have one of the most grueling and stressful jobs, and we owe them recognition.💕 Today I met Jenny from @trademarks.flower.farm who grew these absolutely stunning white dahlias! I hope all my wedding clients are ready for the beauty that is about to grace their big day! #supportyourlocalfarmer

Today I did a major weeding of the garden and took a vow to be a more proactive row coverer next year. But the plus side is that flowers brushed my face as I filled buckets with grass. Then I was inspired to create this from the bounty of nature in my own backyard. #summerismyfavorite

This beautiful soul was married Saturday to her high school sweetheart and my heart couldn’t be more full! I’ve been dying to share her bridals because she is one of the most stunning and timeless brides and it’s been a joy to design for her.
I met Jordan Leigh 3 years ago when she was finishing her freshman year of college. She has been such a kind hearted and joyful friend as I transitioned into this new city. I’m so excited for the new journey she is embarking on in her marriage to Josiah and I pray their marriage is filled with deep joy and continues to be a light in this dark world.
