ELECTRIC PARK FIRE DISASTER 1925
Electric Park in Kansas City, Missouri was opened in 1907. The park would light up by thousands of lights during the night. The theme park had a roller coaster, Ferris wheel and a carousel & much more.
Walt Disney as a youth didn't live that far away from the park & drew inspiration from it.
In 1907 the circle swing fell over and eight people were injured and the giant swing wasn't rebuilt.
In 1925 the park caught on fire which reduced the park to ashes. The Ferris wheel, rollercoaster and many other attractions in the park was destroyed.
It was believed the fire may have been started by an arsonist.
There is no record of any lives being lost.
The owners of the park didn't rebuild the destruction but continued to remain open to the public due to the theatre and aquarium being undamaged. At the end of the year the park closed for good and the owners marked the occasion with a fireworks display.

Today begins the demolition of my absolute favorite roller coaster. I know to many old arrow loopers aren't the greatest, but to me they are the best of the best. Vortex has been my #1 coaster for just about a decade. It saw me grow from riding my first coasters as a kid to, an emotional send off on its final night. A coaster might just be a large piece of metal or wood. To me though, Vortex was the culmination of my passion and hobby for roller coasters. Rides keep getting more and more crazy and exciting, but there will never be another like this one.
My no. 18 coaster is HangTime at Knott’s Berry Farm. HangTime is the coaster that really got me interested in and excited about rollercoasters because the beyond vertical drop was terrifying to me and I was so exhilarated by the thrill. Now I see that it really only has two amazing moments in its drop and the airtime hill along with some decent hangtime. 8.7/10
