🍽 Stuffed French Toast with strawberry 📍 Glendora ⏱ the waitlist on Yelp is NOT available
🚘 parking? Yes
Flappy Jack’s is my favorite restaurant to get french toast! There is always a long line, so go there when you have time! Whipping cream and custard cream is inside the french toast! And the strawberries are not so sweet, so you can add some syrup on it to make it sweeter too. I love this french toast!
In 1952 Route 66 was straightened out and headed through Yucca, bypassing Oatman. By then Oatman was over its peak as a mining community.
Also bypassed was the dangerous Sitgreaves Pass to Oatman although it remains one of the very best drives on Route 66 to this day!
It was here in Yucca where the elevations began to drop and you would catch your first glimpse of the dreaded Mojave desert.
Yucca thrived through the 1950’s as tourist courts and cafes sprouted up.
One of them being the Whiting Brothers motel and service station which had the only swimming pool in town!
When interstate 40 replaced Route 66 through here, Yucca exits remained but it wasn’t enough to keep the old services open. Soon, one more of the many Whiting Brothers complexes “bit the dust”. All that remains today are its famous signs.
Sadly, not too long ago, some douche stole the unique pool sign...
Yucca was left with little more than abandoned businesses, mobile homes and an odd golf ball looking house.

Middle Of Nowhere, NM
Somewhere between Los Lunas and the ghost town of Correo (named Suwanee before that) in the New Mexican desert. The only proof left that there was once life in Correo is the abandoned Wild Horse Bar, still famous for its towering bar sign.
This road was The National Old Trails Road first, also known as The Ocean To Ocean Highway. Established in 1912 and 3096 miles long, it was the first coast to coast road in the US and stretched from Baltimore to California.
In 1926 it became the first Route 66 alignment.
This ended in 1936 when Route 66 got realigned straight from Santa Rosa to Albuquerque (bypassing Santa Fe among others) and straight on to Mesita (bypassing Los Lunas among others).
The early US highways all followed the telephone lines and/or railroad tracks, in this case the BNSF railroad. As we were taking pictures of the old abandoned road a train came by, presenting us with this pure and classic western scene.
Road trip! Take a cruise down the Texas run of #Route66 and you'll spy true gems. Extra points if you can name the movie that features this landmark in Shamrock, Texas. #TexasToDo 📷 by: @katherine_rowan
