From Mendon Ponds to Canandaigua Lake and then spontaneously changing our route plan to go around the lake before we headed back. 😜 Through the grape 🍇 festival. Did you know they make grape popcorn!? Lost 2 screws to my cleats. 🤦🏽♀️😖 Found one☝🏽and repaired! Sour Patch kids make Hills more fun. So fun so that I dropped my chain at mile 96 and BAM. It was so tightly wedged in there, we couldn’t repair it without taking the cassette off. Never a dull or boring ride! 😄
Kregg road his longest ride today!! 102 Miles! 🥳 Wooo!! Chad said too many funny things to count. I laughed so hard I cried. We got in somewhere between 5,000-6,700ft Elevation. All our gadgets said very different!! Chad came back to pick me up in the car. Thank goodness all these mechanical issues happened today and not on race day! I then did a short Run! If you made it this far, thanks for reading my whirlwind of a fun day!! Best way to spend our last warm sunny Sunday in Upstate NY!!!

I will eventually post a blog but for now, you’ll have to deal with the ramblings of a sleep deprived runner.
Starting the race with a plan, it all changed when the temperature rose high and caused my heart rate to go crazy (170-180) so at that point, I decided to take a gamble and walk until the temperature went back down and then catch up with those that passed me during those hours I walked. With the help of so many people (crew, fellow runners, encouragement from friends) I was able to make a huge comeback. In the last 14 hours, I made a comeback from 18th place to 2nd place. A silver medal in the USA National 24 Hour Championships. Yay!
I’m super grateful for the support from my friends all over the world who let me know they were cheering for me. Your voices were heard. My best friend @c_e_dasilva not only crewed me but also let me know who was cheering for me. Thanks!
Though I walked for about four hours and visited the medic tent (such helpful people!) I still managed to get in 114 miles!
Run for the Hills? 🥵
Ran- Run for the Grapes Half-Marathon this morning. Thought it was supposed to be a flat course but it was anything but the first half or so of the race (who knew that vineyards weren’t flat). Between the hills and the heat (30 degrees c at the start time), it made for a tough day on the course. 🥴
Goal going into the race was to hopefully run a 1:25 but adjusted the plan before the race because it was just too hot out. I ended up just running an hour of marathon pace tempo and then just brought it home to the finish line. Ran a 1:35 today, good enough for 17th and 1st in my age group. 🏅
Though the time wasn’t what I wanted or a huge confidence booster going into my marathon, it was still an awesome day on the course and found a few positives during the race. Also anytime I get to get together with this group of people, it makes for an great day of running and laughter no matter what. Great to see @firstname.lastname@example.org@runtanyarun and of course @jeph.runs.wincity today🙌
It’s pretty much time to start the taper and gear up for @chimarathon in 21 days. Looking forward to getting that first major marathon star ⭐️🇺🇸
This weekend was pretty epic! Attending the Goosebumps 6 / 24 Hour Run/Walk! with some of my favs. 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏻🏃🏻 This race is unique because it’s all donation based and all the proceeds from the event stay in the community to support local families and community members in their fight against Lupus. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Everything was fantastic- the volunteers, energy, food, support, running through what they call tent city and so much more. It’s very family oriented and there were even kids out there throughout the entire 24 hours. 😊
As for the race.. it was pretty fun 🤪.. unfortunately the course was changed to a 1.8mile loop on gravel, pavement & grass due to flooding, but the distance worked in my benefit after all was said and done.
I went into this race with some wishful secret goals, but with nursing a hip/booty injury for the last several weeks and putting in minimal training miles.. my main goal was to just have fun! However.. when you get the Kunkel sisters together, the competitiveness creeps in and we feed off of each other’s push to continue on. With that said.. I finished with 83 miles, first female overall, my furthest distance to date & first time running 24hours straight. 😱🥇You can check out my highlights to see some good laughs and more. 🏃🏻♀️💪🏼 #ultrarunner#goosebumps24hr#momswhorunultras#catholicwomenrun#altrarunning#nathanambassador
8 recovery miles to finish out my last hard week before Chicago. 😄
A friend asked me yesterday what my goal is for the marathon, and I realized that I don’t have a time goal for the race! When I started training 4 months ago, my goal was a 3:12. But now, I don’t know. This is a very busy time of year for my family, plus it’s still hot over here in Texas, and I haven’t been able to recover as much or run as fast as I would like. 🤷🏻♀️
Rather than put pressure on myself, my goals for Chicago are:
1– thank God every mile for my wonderful, supportive, encouraging hubby (who is the reason I started running in the first place!) and for this opportunity
2– enjoy the experience
3– pace myself so I feel strong in the second half
When your wife says, “Jump!” you say, “How high?” After running a 5K last night, we got up this morning and ran 6 miles on the Lake Trail in Palm Beach. Marathon training for me and the amazing @the4bz. We’ve got this!

Here’s a recap of last week’s Philly Half Marathon training. I focused on recovery from racing so lots of easy miles. Even though Philly is my ultimate fall goal, I just signed up for the Cape Cod Half. It’s 5 weeks away and 4 weeks before Philly so I think it’ll be a good check in!

Hoe was jullie weekend?!!
Weymouth 70.3 Ironman Triathlon - ABSOLUTELY SMASHED IT 😍😍
Finished time 5hrs 27mins 54 secs 😁💪
What an epic day!! 🏊🏻♂️🚴♂️🏃🏻♂️
Standing on the start line in the pouring down rain was an experience I’ll never forget but I focused on my goal and managed to complete the shortened 950m swim due to wind conditions perfectly in 23mins ! 👌
The bike was extremely challenging, not only did it hammer down from start to finish but we had horrific winds on not the easiest of courses with a lot of elevation but still managed to smash it in 3hr 11mins averaging over 17mph 👊
Once I got onto the run I was feeling drained from the bike but so determined to finish, I battled and dug deep to finish in a very strong 1hr 38mins 🏃🏻♂️🙌 Turning onto the Red Carpet and running down to the finish line was an incredible experience with an amazing atmosphere 😍
I honestly cannot thank my amazing girl @emma_louise_jones19 for spending the entire day in the pouring rain from 5:30am this morning supporting me ❤️ seeing her as I ran down the red carpet was amazing 😘 having my parents there supporting me on the course as well was so special especially as this was one of my events for @versusarthritis
Safe to say I thoroughly enjoyed my first Ironman Experience and this most certainly won’t be my last!! 😉
Thank you for all the kind messages I’ve had all weekend you really don’t know how much it means 🙏🙏 #ironman#weymouth703#triathlon#triathlete#runner#iamanironman#runnersofinstagram#instarunners#runtoinspire#dedication#commitment#hardwork#triathlons#runaddict#runnerscommunity#gohardorgohome#ironmanuk#runningmotivation#runnerlife#runhappy#strava#runitfast

That’s the last long training run before Cardiff Half marathon - happy days!
My training performance has been so inconsistent I have no idea what time I’m capable of running.
With no expectations hopefully this means I can enjoy this fantastic event a little bit more and hopefully keep myself injury free for my international touch rugby debut four days later which I’m also extremely excited (and nervous about)! Who else is running Cardiff half and have you started to taper ?

What an incredible, beautiful fall day for the @equinoxraces. I’m so grateful to @greeneventscolorado for putting on races that bring our community together so positively. It really fills my heart.
Pic 1: Getting some quiet time before sunrise after getting extroverted-on by my energetic bus mate on the drive up. 😂

Aí lembro do ciclo do 1º semestre para me ajudar e fixar no subconsciente q sou capaz 🙌🏼 .
♻️use a estratégia de fortalecer sua cabeça constantemente e trabalhe a visualização do objetivo sendo alcançado ✨
Bom descanso e ótimo domingo pra todo mundo.

#numberonerunning#somosn1r#zoomsquad#nikerunning#number1girl

I train 7-9x per week, 6x running, 1x cycling + strength training (when I get back to it)💪🏼
But is cardio every day good?📆
I say: it depends on your goals!🏆
➡️ If you are a pro athlete once or twice a day are normal.🥇
➡️ Even for ambitious non-pros race preparation can include every day of cardio/running.
Usually training plans start with 3-5 days & increase every week (not more than 10%).📝
➡️If you just started running 3x per week is perfect to avoid injuries & get your bones, muscles, ligaments used to the stress.💪🏼
➡️ If you run for fun you CAN do cardio every day. Actually 30min of easy cardio a day are even recommended. But listen to your body, vary your activities & have fun!🌈
