December is National Safe Toys and Gifts Month – and a good time to remember some gifts can still be dangerous. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission offers safety checks and tips. Learn more below and here – http://bit.ly/HHSholidaytoysafety.
➡️Check for safety labels that say the toy is nontoxic. ➡️Follow the age recommendations on the package. ➡️Select products with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) label, which means the product meets national safety standards. ➡️Avoid toys with small parts for children under three. ➡️Purchase toys from retailers you know and trust. ➡️Include safety gear when you purchase riding toys such as bicycles or scooters. ➡️Keep up to date on toy recalls. If your child owns an item that has been recalled, remove it from your home. ➡️Clean up after playtime to avoid accidents such as tripping. ➡️Examine toys for pointed edges, broken pieces and other safety hazards.

They discovered their furnace wasn't working and it was getting cold. Being smart seniors on a fixed income, they called us. Through a partnership with NHP and Ohio Development Services Agency we had a new furnace installed in a week. Now they are warm and will stay in their home for many winters to come. #partnership#safehomes#communitydevelopment

Why would anyone choose to use flammable products as an external cladding is hard to understand.

Fireplaces and scented candles certainly add to the holiday season ambiance, but please heed caution and read these tips from the National Safety Council.
The use of candles and fireplaces, combined with an increase in the amount of combustible, seasonal decorations in many homes during the holidays, means more risk for fire. The National Fire Protection Association reports that one-third of home decoration fires are started by candles and that two of every five decoration fires happen because the decorations are placed too close to a heat source.
Place candles where they cannot be knocked down or blown over and out of reach of children and pets.
Keep matches and lighters up high and out of reach for children in a locked cabinet.
Use flameless, rather than lit, candles near flammable objects.
Don't burn trees, wreaths or wrapping paper in the fireplace.
Use a screen on the fireplace at all times when a fire is burning.
Never leave candles or fireplaces burning unattended or when you are asleep.
The first things we teach our nannies in training is HOW to talk to babies. For example, we unlearn saying things like ‘good girl’ ‘bad boy’. Instead we say “good choice” or “not acceptable”. Keeping the focus on the behavior we hope to correct.

Masonry wood stove are great to heat a home, they are very high mass – 6,000 lbs. (You burn wood for 2 hrs and it heats the mass up to warm the house for the next 22 hrs, crazy efficient) This stove has a pizza oven, can’t wait to have a slice. Our owner had it custom etched, so cool! Safe – Sustainable – Beautiful.
Babies and toddlers need constant, reliable physical and emotional affection. Your nanny must have extremely positive energy. She must be warm, active and attentive, supporting your 👶🏾 to grow healthy and happy.
Any security system could signal police or fire authorities, but what if your security system could engage preventative measures all on its own? If your security system is connected to a home automation system, then it just might.
Imagine if your system detected dangerous levels of carbon monoxide while you were fast asleep. Not only would you be alerted, but, with smart programming, your system could automatically trigger motorized windows to open, allowing fresh air to flow in and dilute the noxious gas.
