Round 2 of birthday feasting was at The Song of India, located in a beautiful heritage bungalow just off the main Orchard shopping belt. The restaurant also prides itself on being the only Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Southeast Asia. Head Chef Manjunath Mural arrived in Singapore in 2006 to open the business and has been leading its kitchen team ever since, serving Indian cuisine with a modern twist. (Visited 16/3/2018)
Bridge street prawn mee 🇲🇾 All my friends say till so nice that they taobaoed 10 of the prawn mee back to Singapore and eat. Its not bad, especially the soup. But personally we prefer the hokkien prawn mee from green corner.
Tua Pui Curry mee 🇲🇾
This is so unique, mint leaf in curry mee? It adds a refreshing touch to this curry mee , slurping the zup in a laidback , back in the 80s feel coffeeshop. Buay pai jiak, will come back again. Again, like i mentioned i love overflowing of liao in my noodles!
It’s my first time to @paradisegrpsg Beauty in The Pot. The waiting time always pushes me away. It was an early dinner with the folks who I have neglected over the past couple of weeks with my crazy work deadlines. So it’s makeup time.
With no plan as we roamed in the mall on an early Friday evening, I was delighted to see the banner of BITP.
How long have I not been to @westgatesg ? Since when they had a BITP?
Perfect timing for an early dinner before the crowd heads in.
Had a double pot with the signature collagen soup and a tomato corn soup. I love both.
Collagen is all I need to nourish my fatigued body. Tomato soup claims to be rich in Vitamin C, which I need to boost my weakening immunity.
This place reminds me so much of the hotpot restaurant I had in Taiwan.
I love the fried taro that soaked up the flavourful tomato soup and melted in the mouth.
And my favourite has to be the century egg fish paste. So unique and soft in texture. .

Ah leng char kway teow 🇲🇾
Penang, the land of char kway teow and assam laksa. This is one of the best we ate at a bird also wont lay eggs place 🤣 the plate is so small compared to what we are getting in spore. Just whack the big plate, more chilli and of cos asked for duck egg!

Finally have a chance to try our own local Singapore Style Ramen. I feel that i am eating a bowl of wanton noodles in Japanese style. The wanton is filled with prawn & meat and the char-su is tender and tasty. It went very well with the noodles. The crispy potato wrapped prawn and hot spring egg were simply delicious. Hmm, i would say the ingredients compliment each other very well! I think they really put in a lot of effort in serving this bowl of noodles! Nice presentation and quality ingredients! I will definitely be back again despite the long queue! 😋
Running between errands on an off-day basically threw me off my plan to eat what I wanted.
So when plans kept changing for all sorts of reasons, I found myself roaming in the heart of town not knowing what to eat, since the things I crave for ain’t within reach.
Walked past a corner in Lucky Plaza and I found a busy shop selling fish soup with a crowd of diners in a seating 2 doors away. So this was it.
Mixed fish Tom yum hor fun soup for lunch.
It’s interesting. I was intrigued by the hor fun on display over the order counter. Usually you have fish soup with bee hoon or ee mee, never have I had a fish soup hor fun or kway teow. To up the excitement of this new discovery, I ordered in tom yum soup. Seriously, what was I thinking, when I’m recovering from an erratic digestive system. But I’ve been craving for all the red soupy stuff, so heck it.
What surprise me was, unlike many tom yum version of fish soup I’ve seen, where the cooks just throw in dollops of tom yum chilli paste into the soup for flavour, Alfa Cafe makes their tom yum from scratch. There were lemongrass, galangal, chilli padi and spring onions to give the depth of flavour.
The hor fun was so springy even in soaking in the soup. The fish slices were fresh and portion was generous. While I love the marinate to the fried fish fillet, I found the cut too big.
It’s a beautiful surprise when I least expected. I guess some times things work out when you have no plans too. .

I think it’s really good leh! Tastes just like the candies! I drink a lot of water & always have a bottle with me actually in the background lol & didn’t reach for it once! Pearls were nice & chewy not like laced with extra syrup either. Don’t know what the bad reviews are about?? Lol doesn’t melt easily leh! (Pic 2) maybe inconsistent across outlets but I got mine at Nex! Staff scared me with the half hour wait warning lol but was just worse case.
