Hugo’s come back into lunging work, as he’s a bit... thick 🍑
I’m focusing on just getting him back into shape and fitter and then I’ll see if he’s up for any riding with positive reinforcement, I haven’t ridden him for quite a long time in reality... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Achelois has had the last 2-3 weeks off from lunging and riding and we’ve focused on learning to target and free lunge at liberty, and it’s really helped her relax and gain correct muscle along her body 💓 I’m starting to now use the lunge and saddling through +r, and hopefully when she’s ready we’ll start riding again, I’m mostly working on shaping her natural collection without the use of *aids* as I’d like her to feel as badass and confident in herself as possible. 😍
Anyway, I’m off to work again, and thanks for 600 followers too! 🥳
Next question: Do you like finding and bringing along young horses? What’s your favorite part of the process?
Yes, I absolutely love bringing them along. It’s one of my favorite things about this sport!
I just love the whole evolution, especially when I’m working with super talented young horses—the ones that just click with the concepts in show jumping—that’s really fun!

Me and @eggmunn on a trail ride before the horse trials🦄🦄
Swipe to see a chubby and slightly out of shape Winkle.
I haven’t been able to get any nicer photos from the show yet, which is disappointing.
Winkle and I will be going to our regional show jump rally in October. I’m excited, hoping to have pretty good results there!

Jess & Ruby had a lovely day out at the Jimboomba Open Junior Gymkhana. ✔Ruby & Elvis were 2nd place in Handler, 2nd in Rider & 2nd Hack in a competitive group of 9 riders, 9 and 10 years old. They also had an excellent show jumping round for 6th place. ✔Jess & Nero were Champion in 13 and 14 year olds, in a competitive group of 5. And highest points of the whole day! Highlight was winning the show jumping after a great round.
Thanks to Jimboomba for a low key, fun and encouraging day. #jimboombaponyclub#nerangponyclub#gymkhana#hack#youthhandler#rider#sporting#showjumping#juniorriders
I was very under prepared for today’s show at Oxenford, which definitely showed! Me and a Fortune tried our first ever 1.05m start in the first class of the day. He jumped amazingly and clear until fence 8, the second combination on course. Unfortunately he slipped coming around the corner from 7 to 8 following the morning rain and I should have turned a circle. We lost our forward and balance and he refused the first part of the double, and then when I re presented it was like he had had enough, so we were eliminated🤦♀️😆. Freddie went around the 60 and 70cm for a couple of rails, but starting to get the idea of where his legs go and he’s so brave and honest! 🙌
Next week we have a Guy Creighton clinic to knock us back into shape! #showjumping#ottb#stanceequitec#nakedday#wintershine
So P & I did a thing today—we made our debut in the HUNTER RING. 😱
This is my favorite jump from the show. I honestly didn’t know P had it in him to jump so well. 🤤
QOTD: When was the last time you were surprised by your horse? 💫
My golden girl and I living our best life!
Because of her, I’m in a completely different place than I was a year and a half ago. My mental health was suffering, but with professional help, and the emotional support from this girl (and oils), I’m leaps and bounds from where I was.
She’s become my loyal, loving, stalker-like companion through all the ups and downs, and I couldn’t be more grateful!🐾

Impossible to forget this day, the day that #LaraZ shined in the arena again, after almost 10 months of special cares, attention and endless love.
Impossible to not be full of gratitude with all and each one that made this day possible, I mean a vet or with a healing hug, the list would have not end, and I don't want to be unfair with anyone. Today I'm so grateful because of you, the ones who celebrate her returning as joyful as me. To each one of you THANKS!

I have been riding Chico out on trail rides as he’s getting sick of doing the same thing every day. I’ll probably ride him out on rides for the rest of the month. Our geese eggs are hatching and we currently have 2 little goslings and we’ve unfortunately had 1 suffocate underneath all of the eggs😢 We also have 4 heifers in calf and are due to start calving in about 3 weeks. We also might be picking up our Muscovy ducklings today🤞
QOTD: How old is your horse?
AOTD: Chico is rising 8
Modern horsemanship owners are finding that massage therapy is beneficial not just to the physical aspect of the horse, but is also improving the horse’s mental well-being.
Massage is a non-evasive way to help relaxation & reduce stress. All horses can benifit from massage, old or young, a racehorse on the track or a pony grazing in the paddock. There are health & wellness advantages for all.
This is Dixie, she’s a Red roan Appaloosa (strawberry Appaloosa) she’s 16 or 17 years old and 14.2 hands, when I (Maddie) got her for a Christmas gift she was just a basic trail horse that did not like halters and face pats, now after almost 3 years she slips her face in the halter and loves face pats, she’s a western horse but I mostly ride bareback, she can jump a little and can do the smile command. Im trying to sell her and get a jumper for XC.
do more of what makes you happy ❤️ despite a necessary attitude adjustment after the reining 🤦🏼♀️; frass went on to finish the day by winning the trail &&& third in the all around 🎉 #spinnotsidepass#stuckinreverse
Welbeck was the star of the day today with a brilliant clear in the 1.25 🌟 I’ve forgotten how much fun she is, I swear I had a grin on my face the whole way around!
Khal was also super to just touch one pole in the 1m10 ♥️ Thank you to @mackeyireland for their support and kitting us out with saddle pads, bridles and more!

Day 1 at Cavan is done and we had great fun! Unfortunately a touch of 4 faultitis keeping us out of the placings. Fingers crossed tomorrow we’ll leave all the poles up 😉
Welbeck and Khal are wearing their lovely leather head collars from @mackeyireland
Thank you @mikaela_weld for the photo! #welbeckthemare#khalinov

Finally got some new riding pics! Vanilla was amazing today in our jumping 😍 I’m not sure when our next bs show will be, but not until at least October, as there aren’t many bs shows on at the moment locally!
If you compete, when is your next show?🤔
