Today we learnt about the value of mindset in the ability to achieve your goals. Thank you so much to Lauren from @life_above_zero for her knowledge and positivity, inspiring me to improve the way I approach my journey.
Meditation is something I haven’t tried, something new and exciting. This week I am aiming to learn the beginnings of meditation and give it a try ✨

I get it. It's hard to do nothing.
You have work to do.
You've got to get that work out in.
Meals need to be prepped.
You have that thing.
And that friend to see.
And that date to go on.
Then, before you know it, you've crashed and burned.
You're tired all the time.
You need 4 coffees to even try to function.
You have zero motivation.
You feel down all the time.
Everything is spiralling.
We put busyness on this pedestal, as if not being productive lessens our self worth. We (women especially) feel obliged to put others' needs ahead of our own, as if we would be less kind or generous if we didn't.
But, what are you doing for YOU? How are you showing up for YOURSELF?
I am notorious for always being on the go. It wasn't until a couple days ago when I told a friend out loud, "𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸."
Yes, it's a season that I have to go through while running multiple businesses, but it's not how I want to live my life. I don't want to be neglecting my health - social life, food, activity, hobbies - for the sake of busyness.
We often forget how to cultivate boredom.
Remember when you were a kid and you'd be perfectly happy just sitting in the garden playing with a stick? You could let your mind wander instead of bombarding it with inputs from people, computers and phones?
Let's get back to that every once in a while.
Carve out the time to be bored.
Say no to things you can't afford the energy for.
Slow. Your. Roll.
It's tough. But it's so necessary.

Tonight we read the Grinch together ☺️ ..I’m always so busy working and choreographing and teaching all day — I truly love our evenings together! ❤️ I can’t help but think about how fast time is flying! ..I wish she wanted to snuggle and read books with me forever!! 😢 I just love her! 😘 (although she told me my pregnant tummy looks like the Grinch’s!! 😳🤣) #lifeisgood#rubyrocks#bestestbuddies#timeflies#slowdown#lovemysweetie

5x5 hug challenge still underway.
Five 5-minute-long hugs a day.
5 minutes is a long time.
I’ve been setting the timer for them.
Convo from hug #1 today:
L: “Are you bored yet?”
L: “How about now? Bored yet?”
Settling in... deep breaths... switching neck sides... L: “Hey, it’s already 4 minutes... almost done.” R: “I’m gonna miss this.” L: “Sweetie we have 4 more of these today.” R: “Good.” :
Yeah, Rene has a really big hug capacity!
We talked about it more after we were done with #3 today and both agree that 5 minutes is pretty awesome. Rene said, “It takes the whole first minute just to feel your own body and land in the hug. Then the second minute you notice the other person’s body. Then for 3 minutes it’s like meditation. And the last minute you’re thinking, I could do this more...just like meditation, you resist it, then you start and your body really likes it.”

This man is the most important thing to me. He no questions asked, unconditionally supports me.
There are days I pause, look at my life and know I need to make adjustments. .
Today I am aware. I see you. I love you.
One of my favorites mini pauses during coffee shop days is to *really* enjoy that first smell, that first sip, that first warmth of chai latte before I focus on work.
When I work from home, I find myself missing that moment - and am working on finding some mini pauses that would have as strong of a grounding effect for me at home.
Incase you're wondering what the heckles I'm talking about, my YouTube video from last week was all about three different levels of pauses you can work into your day - you can find the link to the channel in my profile.
Is there a tiny moment in your day when you notice yourself pausing, soaking it in?

Swipe through Cliff Mid and imagine yourself here for a month. I’ve been mulling over the idea of offering longer stays for those in need of a full moon, meteor showers, space to create and weeks in which to step away from the race and settle into quiet dawns, pond swimming and long walks. Could you come? Would you? #imaginechange
⚠️ Training Opportunity: Nobody was hurt ⚠️. The Cologne City Council members were invited to the firefighters training tonight. I want to thank the Cologne Fire department for inviting us to participate. I’ve never been on a stretcher before and hope to never again! We appreciate you more than you know! ‼️ PSA: slow down, especially if you see flashing lights, they could be warning you of an accident ahead, don’t become a patient and don’t risk the life of a firefighter. Please slow down! ‼️ #cologneproud#colognemn#loveourfiredepartment#citycouncil#slowdown#firetraining
The key to any relationship. We’ve been having a hard go over here for the last few weeks. Raising a toddler and a baby is hard work. I have been reflecting on our experiences and asking myself what can I/we do better.
When life gets busy, connection gets harder. When I was a teacher a larger percentage of my kids could go the whole day without a meaningful conversation. This might surprise you but think about this- you wake up it’s rush, rush, rush to get dressed, have breakfast go to where your going. It’s ‘eat your breakfast, put your shoes on, don’t forget your sweater.’ I find keeping busy keeps me happy. I need to get out of the house every day being the extrovert that I am. BUT when things are busy I need to remind myself that connection is so important. How do you get connection?? TIME! Time to talk, time to play, time to listen.
Eloise consistently has been getting up between 6:30am-7am in the mornings. She’ll come get me and I’ll sneak away from Declan. Declan will usually sleep for at least another hour. I will usually breastfeed Eloise, then make myself a pot of tea while I put the tv on for Eloise. I’ll then find some housework to do.
Thinking about connection, this morning instead of cleaning. I sat down with her and we had an hour of uninterrupted play. It was beautiful. So much learning happened. I could write another post about that! But you could see it in her eyes how much it meant to her for me to sit with her and play.
Most Wednesday end up being hard, but today has been so nice. I believe it’s because we started the day off connected.
How do you stay connected in your relationships? It’s also so important to stay connected with your partner! That could also be another post! My suggestion is for the day try to make a conscious effort to be connected with your loved ones and I bet you’ll notice the difference! #connectioniskey#keytoagoodrelationship#relationshipsmattermost#startingthedayoffright#timetoplay#timetoconnect#slowdown#toddlerlife#parentingatwoyearold#gentleparenting#attachmentparenting#mumlife#mothering#motherhood#animalroleplay#toddlerandbaby#busylife#meaningfulconversations

#IHTrekStory | What my heart captures but camera doesn't .
Trek Leader @leocaptures shares: A picture never fully captures the reasons behind why I want to freeze the moment in the first place.
It doesn't capture the cleansing scent of mountain air entering my nostrils.
It doesn't capture the transformation in the texture of the snow flake settling on my beard.
It doesn't even capture the unexpected cold howl of winds whipping through my hair.
The lens of my camera cannot capture any of that; my heart does.
Currently listening to Bipul Chettri - Asar 🎶
What's the story behind your frozen moments? Tell us - what did your trek pic fail to capture?

There's a little Bailey dog in there. Cold is coming... she gets cold a lot now. She'll wear her sweater more this year than ever.
l love this little dog.... turning 14 in February. I will love her all of her days. She drives me nuts and tests my patience. She's silly and exuberant. And I look forward to how ever many more adventures we have together.
Slow down this season- look around you. Praise. Thank. Remember.
If you are or have been around little 2-year-olds, you know how easy foe them to say NO! Granted they may not fully understand what they’re saying NO to but there’s no filter or resistance to saying NO! Today, I said NO to a dinner with my husband and a friend. It was a last minute decision because I let myself feel into my body and trust that it would guide me to knowing what to do the moment my husband put on his shoes and grabbed the car keys. Typically, I would talk myself into going and a million reasons to justify being at the dinner. While I know I’d have a blast, I realized the alternative to be at home is the choice for my best self to come through. And so I gave my husband a kiss goodbye and asked him to bring me back some food! 😁 #sayingno#quiettimeathome#pleasure#selfcare#advocateformyself#relaxathome#restingmybody#being#homebound#trust#listentomybody#mercuryisstillinretrograde#slowdown#intuition#no#power

Today I got hit by a turning car while in a cross walk. I am doing alright, compression fracture of my T12 vertebrae. Concussion. That old chestnut. I haven’t tried to walk yet, but have full mobility of all extremities. So cool to that.
Anyways, just a reminder that it isn’t worth it to speed to that doctors appointment or meeting. Nothing in your life will change if you are 5 minutes late. Trust me. Please be careful out there. I was / am lucky.
Additional details: @passtheerbe is the best boyfriend and I am forever grateful for his presence today. ❤️ #aluminummonster#pedestriansafety#slowdown

Finding peace is not just about taking care of YOU. Our greatest joys come from the love we share with others. Maybe that means spending more time listening and less time talking. Maybe it means leaving an encouraging note for your spouse before work. Maybe we need to shut off our phones after work and give 100% to our family. How often do you give 100% to someone else?
“A waiting person is a patient person. The word patience means the willingness to stay where we are and live the situation out to the full in belief that something hidden there will manifest itself to us.” Henri Nouwen
I’m sure all of us can think of a place of waiting in our current life and it can be disheartening, frustrating and lonely. Join @awakenandfree for advent as we focus our mind on hope in the in between places we find ourselves in. .

This is what a full hour of Restorative Yoga looks like in 60 seconds. 😴
There are moments in life when you think to yourself, I'm exactly where I need to be, right here right now.
You look back, and you recall all the moments of doubt and anxious agony, the trials and errors, the disappointments. And you feel in your bones it was all worth it because it all led to this one moment.
This past weekend, I got to share the practice of teaching Restorative Yoga with eight beautiful souls who will now start and continue to share it with others. This is happening! We are done with the glorification of the white-knuckled hustle. First, we rest our nervous system. Then, we make a difference in the world.
I think I'm falling in love with my life... Never too late. @tandavayoga#restrevolution #restorativeyoga#permissiontorest#slowdown
Thank you @tamararaelogan for making this video!

Two words that I’m sure we’ve all used at one time or another when our kids are slower than molasses in the wintertime.
But why? What is the big rush? What exactly is it that’s so important we have to be in a *𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩* all. the. time..?
Nothing. There is nothing worth rushing our babies for. Is it annoying to wait for your child to change their underwear for the tenth time because none of them feel right? You betcha.. or for them to make up their mind on something, to only change it.. ten times... or if your kid is the master procrastinator, like mine, when it comes to bedtime... lord bless your heart because I know....
Y’all.. patience is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 a trait of mine. Or my husbands.🤣 And we are in a tough season of life with our sweet, yet 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 (did I say very?) sassy four year old.
I caught myself saying “hurry up” to her today because she was taking too long getting dressed. Why? We didn’t need to hurry up. The post office would be there regardless.
But you know what won’t always be there? Time with our children. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘥𝘢𝘺 they are a little 𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳 and might need us as parents a little 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴. So I challenge you to “slow down” when you find yourself saying “hurry up.”
Our generation is obsessed with rushing into the next “big step”. Whether you’re working towards your next big promotion, waiting to getting married, or whatever it is, remember that life is not a competition. Enjoy the journey, and take a break when you need to. - @slothspirations
Our culture says keep going, keep pushing. There are seasons where this can be helpful, but only if we know how to rest in the midst of it.
This weekend, I had a lot of plans- one last push in my work before I let go a little for a restful holiday season.
But it seemed this weekend was for slowing down, instead. For constantly monitoring a little girl in pain with some tummy issues (she’s had them for over a week now) and diaper rash issues- a toddler momlife issue many of us know well, but my mind goes to worse case scenario thinking, especially when I’m already a little worn.
I truly believe if we don’t take a hint from ourselves and the people around us that rest is necessary- life will force us to slow down eventually.
The absolute opposite of rest? The joy sucking thing many of us struggle with? Perfectionism.
So let’s “get ahead” in a different way. Let’s get ahead of the burnout by choosing rest & in turn choosing joy. Let’s slow down a little before we end up running to fast that our bodies and minds can’t catch up. Let’s remember we don’t have to do it all or hold it all together. And if we let go a little, it’ll only remind us that the rest of the world won’t fall apart because it simply doesn’t rest on our shoulders or our ability to do everything always.
So, throw perfectionism out this week every time it creeps in. Choose slow a little more. Say no a little more and yes only when it makes sense. And chase joy- it’ll be much easier when you aren’t trying to chase perfectionism as well- because you can’t run two opposite directions at the same time. #minimalishlife
