Nail Education with Nya: Let’s talk SOAK OFF REMOVALS!
A soak off is a process used to remove acrylic nails that should be 100% painless and bring no harm to the client. Here you can see the easy nature of doing so, resulting in the product flaking right off. This is because I use EMA acrylic liquid.
Some techs go the cheaper (and illegal) route and use MMA acrylic, which is used for dental and orthopedic surgery work and is not meant for skin contact. These products can cause allergic reactions (burning skin, itching skin swelling of the fingers), nails to break out of nail bed, and other unfavorable consequences. Tell-tale signs of MMA usage is: dirt cheap pricing, fruity acrylic smells, instant burning with skin contact, and over-usage of e-file (drill). MMA soak offs are SLIMEY and take much longer than the average 30min-45min soak off time of regular acrylic! Be observant and don’t hesitate to ask questions when receiving any service. If a nail tech is hurting you... stop them and LEAVE!
Soak offs should be done in 100% acetone. Afterwards, restore your client’s moisture by adding a healing cuticle oil to their nails and surrounding skin! 💅🏾😘
