🇬🇧 Day 42: Lemon 🍋.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade 😀.
Well I have offered in 2 ways.
1. 1/2 Lemon juice mixed with avocado and offered with the spoon.
2. As it comes 😅.
I thought she would react with the slice of lemon but she didn’t, instead she asked me for more 🤣. Like mother like daughter😉.
In this videos I show you as well how to offer food with the spoon and still ve BLW. U #you will need at least 2 spoons.
Have a great evening 🤗.
Well kind of.
Some of you know (but probably a lot of you won't as I don't talk about it much) that I teach green woodwork at a care farm in Hereford, working with adults with a wide variety of learning difficulties and mental health issues.
While we are off work due to the lockdown, we have been keeping in touch with some of the service users via phone. My soon to be wifey is in touch with one of the guys that we both work with. She sent him this photo (second picture) to show him that we are making good use of the bench that he made for us in the green wood workshop. The bench is fantastic and he did all of the work himself (including some excellent pole lathe turned legs and spindles!)
Today, his mum sent us this photo of a drawing that he did from that initial photo. It's so cool, I felt that I had to share it here (with his and his mums permission. I am super impressed with his drawing (almost as impressive as his woodwork!) and I am pleased to say he is going to let us have it to put up on our wall.
So, thank you Mark! I hope we can do some more woodwork soon 🖤
"I'm ugly and I'm proud." I had a lot of fun making these yesterday. Once I started, I couldn't stop. 😳 Making #uglyspoons 🥄 was a lot of fun. This beautiful reddish-brown clay will fire to a dark brown, almost black stoneware. I also made several using speckled brown clay. Making these cuties was a labor of love. What do you think I should use them for?
°•Caramelized spareribs and baked potatoes •° . °• Ingredients •°
Salt & pepper
3-4 Curry powder
3 Paprika powder
4 Garlic cloves
2 Garlic powder
Salt & pepper
3-4 Sour cream
Marinate the spareribs over night into dry spices mixture: salt, pepper, paprika and brown sugar.
The next day, bake it for 40-50 minutes at 220°C. While placing the ribs on the tray, add about 3 tsp of oil and other 4 tsp water. Add a tray with water, on the bottom of the oven, so the ribs stay hydrated while baking.
Spareribs sauce: caramelize the sugar (add the sugar into a pan, until melted. Whisk continuously) then add 1 espresso, the soy sauce and pepper. All to your tastes depending on the quality of sauce you want.
Start with 4 tsp soy sauce for 200g sugar.
Wash the potatoes (with the skin) then wrap them into aluminum foil. Place them on a tray and add 5-6 tsp of water in the tray. Bake for 1h30, at 220°C.
Potatoes sauce: whip the butter, then add all the spices (curry, paprika, fresh garlic & garlic powder, salt and pepper). Continue to whip and when all the spices are well incorporated, add the sour cream.
Serve the spareribs with lots of caramel sauce and the buttered sauce, add it onto hot potatoes.

Fresh spalted wood is mesmerizing, each pattern is unique!
Spalting occurs by the action of fungi and there's 3 main types of spalting.
In this spoon we witness "White rot" where the fungi "bleach" the wood by consuming lignin. Sometimes it will also consume cellulose, resulting in a change of texture, leaving the wood moist, soft , spongy or stringy making it unusable.
This spoon is perfectly sound and stable and has been going for a few years.
