Late at saying goodbye to Fall in the office, but we will have lights up soon enough!! Running all over the place the past week - Triangle to Fredericksburg to Stafford and another day to Chester Gap and Front Royal 🚗 •
Did you know that some feet and legs are put together in pieces? To me, that seems like a super difficult way of building them. It would seem like taking a block of solid wood and forming the shape I want would be so much more simple than six pieces of wood to make that same shape. :
Legs and feet take a beating from brooms, mops, vacuums and just being so close to the floor that everything hits them. The feet on this cedar chest were no exception and they had lots of dings and because there are so many pieces to these feet, with time, some of the joints had gaps. :
I first used a syringe to fill the gaps with glue and clamped them. Then I used Bondo to fill the cracks, dings and gaps and have a smoother surface when it’s painted. The trick with Bondo is lots of thin coats. Let each coat dry, sand and add more until you get the surface you’re looking for. This Bondo is a glazing and spot putty for small fixes. There is a heavy duty Bondo for more major work like rebuilding a missing piece of trim. :
The feet may still have a bit of character even after the Bondo, but they will be way better than they started out. #repairingfurniture#customchest#detailsmatter#fauquiercountybusiness#staffordcounty#dcmetro#newbacdesigns
🌿It’s been awhile since I first showed you this dresser. It’s an 1800’s dresser that was left out in the rain and I just had to save her from the landfill. I cleaned it this summer, removed the damaged veneer and did a few repairs, but then I got busy with other things and she sat in pieces in the garage. A couple of weeks ago, I got her out again to assess what needed to be done to make her usable and beautiful.
She won’t be perfect. In order to make her perfect, I would have to replace drawer bottoms, trim, knobs, pretty much everything. I just cannot do that. I can, but I won’t. This dresser was handmade somewhere between 130-160 years ago. The nails used were also handmade. How could I possibly replace that?? I just wouldn’t feel right about changing the history on this beauty.
While I typically go for a flawless finish, she will wear her scars. She earned them and they will stay.
When I’m finished, the dresser will definitely be sturdy and usable and beautiful and oh so charming with all of the original parts and pieces.🌿 #antiquedresser#dresserrestoration#savingallthefurniture#fauquiercountybusiness#staffordcounty#dcmetro#newbacdesigns#furnitureartist

Some pet insurance plans cover accidental injuries and illness. Some also cover breed specific conditions. Also, some may help pay for routine care and preventive surgeries, such as spaying or neutering at the basic level. Higher tiers may help pay for dental care, prescription diet food and hip exams.
Are you busy serving sentences
To prodigals and priests
Drowning in the sea of tears you're crying
Are you worried that you're happier
At war than at peace
Baby are you losing sleep tonight like I am
Oh are you losing sleep tonight like I am

Deputy Ahern and Deputy Fulford were the recipients from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. We are very proud of their proactive efforts to keep our roadways safe.

Don't mind the chubby cheeks and no makeup...But this isn't about me it's about the amazing person next to me I get to call my husband. The best thing about photographing couples and weddings is that it makes me think about my own relationship and all the adventures we've had together. Dan and I will be celebrating our 9th anniversary next week and I can't imagine my life without him. A few weeks ago I filled out the Virginia Living Magazine's (@virginialiving )“Best of” survey. It had the normal categories like best restaurant, best local sandwich shop, best B&B etc... And it gave a “Wild Card” option where you could fill out whatever “Best” you thought should be recognized.
Quite a few of our local businesses made the cut..AND so did my “Best Husband” Dan A. Mulhern!!! It was honestly the first thing that came to mind when thinking of the "best". I’m so lucky to have found such an amazing person to spend my life with. And it's so fun to see him being included in this "Best of Virginia 2017" . Here's what it says... “One of my favorite things about our online readers’ survey this year, other than the fact that we set a new record with more than 50,000 ballot cast, turned out to be the Wild Card category. In the last question of our survey, we asked you to write in any “bests” we hadn’t yet covered. Even though we offered you 105 categories to vote in- from best steakhouse and best farmers’ market to best performing arts company and best motorcycle dealer (new this year)- you came up with some pretty terrific ideas. There were votes cast for best roller derby, best record store, best dog trainer, best “dive” bar and even for best boss. But because we could only have one Wild Card winner in each region, the competition was tough, and there were many great “bests” that didn’t make it into the issue.
Here are a few standouts: ……….. Best Husband, Dan A. Mulhern, Fredericksburg. #besthusband#myeverything#lovefxbg#loveincmag#fxbgdntn
