I've been wanting to write up a few stories from my trip to Australia but recently I've also wanted to be a bit lazy.

I'm going to give a rough recap here with some impressions.
I flew in to Brisbane and then rented a car to drive to Sydney. I love road trips, like really, really love them. It's something I don't get to do very much in Asia so I was looking forward to being able to drive anywhere and do anything. No waiting for train schedules or having to snag a taxi. When you drive virtually every day for your entire life and then don't have a car at all for five years you can get a little restless. 😄
The most striking thing about this drive was the unbelievable variation in landscape on such a short drive. Well, it wasn't that short. It takes about 10 hours total but we took it slow over a few days.
Basically Brisbane and the Gold Coast area were green and lush and a bit tropical. Then from there it was full of farmlands and rolling hills. They have a whole bunch of dedicated "tourist highways" as they are labeled and they are twisty and turn-y and into the hills. This was one of my most favorite drives of all time.
