This one piece of equipment has brought so much more to my life. It’s made me who I am today, not just my strength or my transformation, but who I am. It makes me feel stronger, it gets out my stress, it makes me feel bad ass, and it’s brought so many people I love into my life. Say what you will.... It’s so much more powerful then most even realize. I am who I am today because this one piece of power came into my life. It changed my life for the better! Seems every season brings new challenges of late. Even with everything going on in the world I can’t help but feel hopeful in spring. Everything seems to be on hold or postponed for now. My next surgery will have to wait but this gives my new treatment regimen a chance to work and for that I’m hopeful. Time for renewal, in more ways than one.

It’s really starting to hit us how much we are missing our indie coffee shops ☹️ We have an amazing thriving scene in Leeds and of course further afield with many members of the #northstarfamily flying the flag for great ethical coffee across the UK. .
If you’re like us, you’re probably really missing that part of your weekly routine right about now. Coffee is so much more than a bit of caffeine to wake you up, it helps bring us together whether that is meeting with friends, saying hey to your fave barista or even connecting with producers on the other side of the world whilst you sip your brew. It is that feeling of togetherness that is the reason we have taken these shops into our hearts and why they are so utilised when they’re open.
It is also the reason they will survive this, we will be craving that sense of coming together more than ever when we get out the other side and we can’t bloody wait. Whilst we eagerly anticipate that day, make sure you take time to come together with your friends and family over a quality brew from home - we are utilising digital means of communicating heavily right now. Zoom/Skype/FaceTime etc are playing a valuable part in helping us stay connected in a time when we have probably never felt so separate. .
Buy your friends and family some much needed beans and help play a part in protecting our industry during what is possibly the most challenging time it has ever faced. Come together over a great brew, reflect on the positives of this weird and crazy time and talk appreciatively about your fave shops that you’ll be returning to when this is all over. Today I just felt like running.
A good way to clear the head and get some much needed fresh air.
Below is a HIIT style plan for 20 - 25 mins that makes running way more fun. Save it for later ⚡️
This style of running helps to get your heart rate up, increase your fitness level, burn more calories and just makes running more interesting which is a big yes for me!
- Warm up with 5 min slow jog or walk
- Then move to your EASY pace for 3 mins (I have explained the paces below)
- Change to your MEDIUM pace and hold for 1 min
- Then change to FAST pace and hold for 30 secs
- Repeat this cycle 2 - 3 times
- Slow jog or walk to cool down for 5 mins
* EASY - a pace where you could chat with a person in your bubble running alongside you. A pace where you feel comfortable in.
* MEDIUM - bit faster than your easy pace and would be able to answer questions in 2 or 3 word sentences. But def not speeding.
* FAST - this is a no full question pace because you can’t really answer questions - more like one or two words if your lucky. Not an all out sprint but more like I can’t do this for a long period of time - only 30 secs max.

Meet Piccolo, the PICC line! About a week and a half ago I had my PICC line placed. For those that don’t know (not even I did at first), it’s a fancy IV. Instead of just a small catheter going into a vein, the catheter is much larger. It enters my vein in my bicep and travels all the way to a large vein in my chest. It lasts for months instead of a few days like an IV. Unfortunately, it’s another thing my body needs. Another thing I have to rely on. One more thing that makes me look “sick”. But it’s helping so much. My weekly saline infusions have become so easy. No more blown veins, or being pricked 7 times in 20 minutes. no more bruises all over my arms. I wear Piccolo proudly, just like my feeding tube. It shows the sick, it shows the pain, but it also shows the fight. It shows how God is putting people in my life to help me heal. It’s been a long road with lots of battles, but this is a sword that I am carrying. It’s here to help me slay the weakness that has overcome my body. God is working through this.
