3️⃣ Ways to Release Stress (in less than 3 minutes!)
It’s that time of year, people.
You’re getting ready to take final exams, gearing up to go holiday shopping and see a ton of friends and family you haven’t seen in a year, or rushing to get everything done BEFORE the holidays so you can actually enjoy your time off. 😪
It can get stressful.
The good news is that typically, the stress you feel during these times is 𝘢𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘦 stress, which is actually pretty harmless. But stress still isn’t pleasant, and if you’re not careful, acute stress can be a slippery slope that leaves you crying and freaking out about how many things you have to do – and meanwhile, those things still aren’t getting done. 😖
So! Here are three ways to QUICKLY release stress when it starts happening, so you can recenter, refocus, and get back to work like the boss you are 💪🏼
1️⃣ 𝗪𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨. Yes, even taking your car to the shop to see what that weird light on your dashboard means. Now, 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞. What has to get done today? What can wait until tomorrow or the end of the week? Prioritizing helps you see where your energy is best spent.
2️⃣ 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞. When we’re stressed, it’s easy for our minds to take off in a million directions. Obviously, this hinders our focus, so now we’re stressing about how we can’t focus. It’s a vicious cycle! When this happens, stop and breathe for a few minutes. Close your eyes and take deep breaths from your belly. You should feel calmer and more relaxed, and you should be thinking more clearly.
3️⃣ 𝗪𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐚 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐨𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐓𝐮𝐛𝐞. Taking a break to do something fun or silly can be exactly what we need. Laughter is known to release endorphins, decrease blood pressure, and soothe muscular tension. Turns out laughter really IS the best medicine. 🤓

Helpful tip: Even though you may want to spoil all of your children with tons of toys this year, you and your spouse may want to talk over a budget for each kid before spending tons of money this year. That way it is fair for each kid and you stay within budget. ⠀

Goal of 2020: get my shit together financially! Saving money is going to be a huge focus for me (which will be hard when I just want to be a fabulous fashion blogger with new clothes every week 😂). But it’s been a goal of mine for a while & now is the time to conquer it!

I remember cold nights I cried many tears most nights I tried to break my fears.
Hard times I struggled for many years.
I tried and tried but so many fails! Sometimes I asked why am I even here?
Sometimes I even thought if I should end it here?
I felt like giving up, but I wasn't ware some things in life aren't always as they seem to appear.
You see the struggle made me stronger.
All the pain and failire built a conqueror!
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
And clinging on to life just buily my hunger!
And I needed the time to understand it was the struggle that made me expand.
The struggle was a part of the plan, THE STRUGGLE MADE ME WHO I AM! 💯
Being backed into a corner forced me to stand taller, made me a shot-caller.
The struggle made me steonger!
Now I'm a problem solver, I'm a top performer, I can do what I wanna!
I had to work harder, I had to work smarter, I had to be faster, the struggle made me stronger!
Stronger than I remember!
In ever way I'm better!
Now I'm a 1-percenter! 🔥

How many of us are guilty of falling into the New Years resolution trap? .
Tell me if this sounds like you...
Come December I would start making my goals for next year and they were always focused around one thing - what I wanted to change in my life that I wasn't happy with. So they were usually centered on:
Losing weight (how many of us are guilty of this one)
Getting a better job that I enjoyed
Some financial goals
All things centered around one thing - what I thought was going to make me happy the way I wanted to be. .
I would share them with my friends during outings because let's be honest, it is such a hot topic during the Holidays. .
At the end of December, I would be living it up knowing come January EVERYTHING was going to change and I would finally build the life I had been dreaming of. .
Then I fell into the common cycle - January 1st I am motivated, can't wait to start all these new routines, lifestyle changes, goals and I start making my to-do list of what I need to accomplish. Then I start to execute and I realize, it's not easy, it's not as simple as I thought it was going to be and life/reality hit me. Come January 31st my goals are out the window and I am stuck back in the rut of my everyday routine. .
And truth be told, I forget about them. Bury them deep inside of myself so that I don't feel ashamed for not following through. I don't think of them again until December and I vow that this next year will be the year I ACTUALLY make a change. .

Time is the ultimate luxury. If all of your money is going to taxes, bills, loans, and nothing is left at the end of the month, you are not financially independent or wealthy. Imagine what you could do with your most precious commodity (time) if you prioritized saving like you do overspending.
Have you noticed this progression in your own life?
It’s pretty consistent when people start searching for answers...
The first thing we learn is that we’re not the victims we once thought we were. We discover that we have a whole lot more power than we knew.
Then the pendulum swings in the opposite direction. Still subtly tied to the idea of our own victimhood, we attach ourselves emotionally to our newfound creative power.
We try to force happiness and faith as a means to an end— to create the triumphant reality we’ve always craved.
But once we give the truth a chance to settle within us, we discover something even more satisfying than creation...
The idea that our own agenda may not be nearly as important or as necessary as we thought.
That all we ever need to do is show up and serve as we feel inspired to serve.
I used to think service was something we’re “supposed to” do, and that the only way to do it was to stand around serving soup to the homeless...
What I didn’t understand is that we all have a role to play in the service of others, and only we can know for sure what that looks like...
...but once you discover it, it feels REALLY GOOD.
It doesn’t feel compulsory at all.
It feels joyful and aligned and meant to be.
One of the hardest things in the world to do is to surrender the need to be special, important, superior or even noticed.
The only thing I know that feels better than creating is allowing yourself to be a channel through which creation can occur.
Seeing that creation comes THROUGH you, not from you.
That kind of humility might feel for a little while like it’s pushing you back into victimhood, but it doesn’t have to.
If you can wrap your head around it, it’s actually the most liberating thing in the world.
You don’t have to have all the answers.
You don’t have to be perfect.
You are already enough.
You get to just show up, listen, and respond.
Easy peasy. Yes?

If you know why you are doing what you are doing and it is strong, compelling and exciting, it will get you over any obstacle.
Too many people don't have that strong why and when those pesky obstacles appear they quit.
You must have a purpose to what you are doing if you want to jump those inevitable obstacles.
Because they will always be there in some form or another.
So why are you doing what you are doing?
Is it strong, exciting and compelling?
Make it so and you will reach your goals easier and faster.
WHEN I SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR HELP 🆘
Let me tell you a little story.
I was a junior in college, and I was losing my mind. 😖 I had just gotten back from studying abroad and was experiencing some pretty gnarly reverse culture shock. Simultaneously I was hitting the ground running with classes, helping run a brand new on-campus organization, working my tail off to get ready for speech tournaments, doing student films and plays, attempting to keep up with friends, and trying to get a job. 😳
Meanwhile, I wasn’t sleeping well. I was experiencing a lot of tension in relationships with people I cared about. I struggled to get back in a routine. I was catapulted into some pretty frightening anxiety and depression. I hid it well, but then I felt like an imposter, on top of everything else. 😔
The way I was doing things wasn’t working: it was affecting my relationships, my health, my mental health.
𝐈 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩.
There were plenty of people I could have reached out to: teachers, coaches, family, friends, counselors, mentors. They could have given me tools, resources, advice, or assistance. But in the middle of crisis mode, it never really occurred to me.
❌I don’t want you to experience that.❌
I know what it’s like to be pulled in every direction at once. To feel so crushed under the weight of so much responsibility that you deny the responsibility you have to yourself. I know the havoc it wreaks on your body, your mind, and your relationships.
As painful as those experiences were for me, I’m glad I went through them, because now I know exactly how to help other people get out of these situations.
But here’s the thing: 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭.

What I’ve learnt is that 𝗬𝗢𝗨 as a person are your own 𝑩𝑼𝑺𝑰𝑵𝑬𝑺𝑺
Think of yourself as a business and you’ll become more financially successful.
To assess yourself like a business:
1. Know your mission & vision statements
2. Know your business cycle: start up, growth, maturity, succession planning. 3. Look at your current balance statement (assets & liabilities) 4. Look at your current income statement (income, expenses & retained equity) 5. Based on your assets and liabilities, do you have more assets than liabilities? If yes, see how to further grow your assets. If no, reduce your short term/ bad debt ASAP
6. Based on your income statement- are your retained earnings growing?
7. See what your desired growth projection is and forecast your growth!

I had already heard about IKIGAI, but never really paid attention to it, when this weekend it kit me again and I got sooooo excited to share this here with you.
Ikigai is a Japanese concept that talks about the balance between the spiritual and the practical. It can also be roughly translated to “reason for being.”
This balance is found at (remember my post from Aristotle?) the intersection where your passions and talents meet the things that the world needs and is willing to pay for.

The concept is really simple, but it’s exactly what is behind a meaningful business, and it’s exactly what makes it so beautiful.

The core from Ikigai is that everything is connected, all the aspects of your life, nothing is isolated.
And at the intersection of those things are the feelings of happiness, belonging and peace, that will sustain us throughout our entire lives.

Three years ago I was scrolling through insta and came across a post talking about some big butt challenge.. let me take you back a bit further for a second...
Anyone who knows me from high school knows that my ass used to be pretty big. And when I lost it, I lost all my confidence too.
When we first got married I would freeeeak out on Cody if I even saw him glance at a girl crossing the road 🙄
I was so insecure! Thinking my husband would leave me because my booty wasn’t as poppin as it had been 🤦🏼♀️
When I would “try” to make it bigger I would do two or three days.. maybe a week of a certain glute related exercises, not see ANY improvement and just decided maybe I was just gonna have to learn to rock a smaller butt.
Fast forward to three years ago and reading about this challenge I was SO intrigued. “I could TOTALLY win this!” was what I thought to myself (there was a prize after the end of the 30 days.) _
Then I found out it was a paid thing.. one of those work from home shams just trying to make money. 😂😂😂 _
I was a broke joke at the time and had no REAL desire to change. Just wanted to sit around and wish for it.
Fast forward a month later.. I found out I was pregnant! “Okay bailey. Maybe you should invest into this thing. You need to get back into shape for a baby!” _
So I invested. I paid $160 for a home DVD SPECIFICALLY to make my butt bigger.
I. Didn’t. Even. Finish. One.
For the sake of speeding this story up, I ended up reinvesting back into this again..(3 more times)
The last time I found my coach. She showed me a REAL challenge group. Guided me to a healthier and sustainable way of living a life more in my terms.
SO this brings me to MY challenge. That’s where we grow right, in a challenge.. I challenge you to join me for 30 days as I 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 act upon my desire of better. 💁🏼♀️

WHY YOU’RE REALLY WASTING TIME ⏰
I know you’ve been there - constantly complaining about how much you have to do & how you have no idea how you’re gonna get it all done.
And then, like magic, your schedule opens up! You get off work early, your meeting is canceled, your professor gets sick and cancels class. Now’s your chance to be productive and get ahead! 💪🏼
...and then you get home and take a nap, or scroll on Insta for hours, or binge watch Schitt’s Creek. 😬
⚡️Here’s the thing, though: many times, when we procrastinate or waste time, it’s not simply because we’re stressed and need a break. Many times, 𝐰𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. Getting mindlessly absorbed in something that isn’t productive (or even interesting 🤷🏼♀️) is a way to distract ourselves from spiritual or emotional discomfort.
So the next time you find yourself wasting time, follow these three steps:
1️⃣ 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐲. Do you really need a break, or are you avoiding dealing with an uncomfortable emotion or situation?
2️⃣ If you’re avoiding something, 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐭. I like to journal until I am able to clearly label both the source of the problem and how it’s making me feel.
3️⃣ 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧. Now that you’ve come to terms with the emotion you’ve been avoiding 👉🏼 accept it, allow yourself to feel it, then figure out how to move beyond it. Call your best friend, have a good cry, or talk to a professional.
Productivity is obviously a critical element of success. But sometimes the reason for our inefficiency isn’t as simple as “I’m stressed.” If emotional distress is causing these avoidance behaviors, you’ll need to resolve them before attempting to just “be more productive.”
