During this #covid_19 😷 pandemic, we should enhance our immune systems by maintaining a healthy diet to stay fit and energetic.
We should eat a variety of fresh fruits every day to get the vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber, protein and antioxidants that our body needs. However, fruits help our brain to produce more of a hormone which help us to minimize stress and blood pressure. For snacks, we can also choose fresh colorful fruits rather than foods that are unhealthy.
Will you pause for a moment? Take 60 seconds to take an inventory of all the ways you are currently trying to control your body…
Are you hungry but trying to avoid eating bc you think you “shouldn’t”?
Do you feel exhausted but feel like you ate “so” much over the weekend so you’re forcing yourself to workout?
Did you break your “diet” or eat “off” of your meal plan or not hold up your own expectations of what you “should” be eating this weekend and now you’re punishing yourself by over-working out or restricting meals or food groups today?
HEAR ME: all of these examples are methods of trying to control the body we live In bc we fear what will happen SO much if we just trusted it to lead us. .
Believe me, I get it. I’ve walked this path more times than I care to count or remember. .
Here’s what I KNOW for a FACT: when we begin to let go of controlling our body and lean into self-trust, it is REAL scary AND REAL freeing. .
The first step is getting REALLY aware of the ways you try to control your body and then little by little, begin releasing the control – meaning, be kind to yourself – get curious instead of punish and judge. You REALLY are doing the best you can – ESPECIALLY given everything going on around us right now. .
If you want to talk through it your control mechanisms and how to work through them – I’m here! DM me to schedule a free Nutrition Consult. I would LOVE to help you or at least encourage you!
Thank you @lisaoliveratherapy for your wise words and inspiration!
I find myself consumed by what is happening in my home country🇺🇸. My heart yearns to be there, holding the hands of my loved ones, and to stand with the fight against racism. To take the hands of different colours and different religions into my own hands and stand in peace together. To talk. To share stories. To cry together. To hold eachother in a long overdue embrace of pure love and acceptance.
I had a dream last night that I was in my parents backyard in Chicago. My parents built a gorgeous fire pit in the center of their backyard with natural grass encircling the fire. My children love this fire pit so much that, even a year later, they still ask for "Papa and Granna's Magic Fire".
I dreamt that I walked outside my front door and entered into their backyard. It was filled with people from every corner of the world. All of different colours, beliefs, sexual orientation, age, and height. They all sat around the fire as our own family sits around the fire.
The earth below my feet shook like an earth quake. I lost my footing a few times as I decended the steps... but something held me upright. I believe it was their unified energy.
They called to me. Not with a shout of my name but with open arms.
As I stepped closer I understood what was happening. They were all sharing stories, hugging, laughing, crying and singing together. They held hands.
Many took the faces of their neighbors into their own hands and simply smiled while looking deep into their eyes. I always believed that this was the best way to connect to the soul.
Their love shook the Earth. And I woke up full of tears.
✨You will find the words from former president @barackobama on the swipe to understand how these protests can lead to change. What needs to be done in order for real change to occur. The last slide includes links to help educate, donate, and understand exactly what is happening. I feel that education and donation are two of the best ways to help any cause, and this one is absolutely no different. Thank you ♥️

Oh I love June 💐 I met for a sunny socially distant walk with a sweet sweet friend this morning and it felt goooooood! One of these silver open space rings was ordered at the weekend, I hadn't made one for ages but I still really love the design. It's unusual these days for me to make a piece of jewellery without a gemstone in it!

COLABORACIÓN: DIEZ CONSEJOS PARA CONSUMIR MODA RESPONSABLEMENTE POR POLA TORRES

TAKE THE STAIRS 🏃🏻♀️ .
Literally and figuratively 💁🏻♀️
You’ve heard it before, “There’s no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs”
Well I’m here to remind you about that. It may seem like common sense to you but are you REALLY making the effort to “take the stairs” or are you secretly wishing for a quick fix silver bullet solution?
Hate to break it to ya hunny, those quick fixes are just going to dent your bank account, disappoint you and probably harm your health (physical, mental, emotional), this encompasses everything - your lifestyle, relationship and business choices
I’ve heard it many times: “you’re lucky” or best yet, some of my own family have even said “you just get everything handed to you”... ummmmm #false
Everything I have (from my physique to my accomplishments and my business), I have worked my ass off for. I decided to take the slow and steady route for longevity and sustainability. When something is worth the sacrifice why wouldn’t you want to approach it the right way?
Do things right the first time and you won’t have to do damage control 👌🏻
Let me know in the comments what you’re struggling with right now⬇️
(Life, love, Nutrition, training, anything! I wanna hear it and offer some support 🤗)
Happy Monday Fam ♥️

Not running or practicing proper yoga yet (although yesterday managed to do some yin focusing on hips that was lovely but the chest area was still pulling when stretching the arms...this illness has certainly a slow recovery). It’s my 20th birthday today 🥳. It feels a little strange celebrating right now with the sickness and injustice that’s happening in the world. But here we are.

Wattle and Daub wall is a very thin wall, using very minimal material as compared to other wall systems like cob, adobe and earthbag. It has two parts – the structure of branches and the covering of mud. A structure of wall is made with a weave of branches and a layer of properly lamped and wet mud is added on top. It is a thin wall, with amazing flexibility. The walls can be twisting and turning, according to how you make the skeleton of weave. Know more about the wattle and daub construction in the ‘Weaving walls’ book and ‘Weaving walls: a wattle and daub cottage’ video in YouTube. Both links in bio.

So let’s talk sustainable periods. My journey to a sustainable period actually started years ago! 2 years ago, I finally got my period back relatively regularly and stumbled across an ad for @mooncupltd (pictured right). I tried it out over 2 years ago and was totally converted. It took a little bit of time to get used to the cleaning of it in public places but I’ve never looked back! I previously used the Always pads and dabbled with tampons.
Stats from @organicup ‘s Website: a person goes through 11,000 disposable pads/tampons in a life time. To put that into shorter context, 528 pads/tampons in 2 years which could be replaced with a SINGLE menstrual cup.
Why use a menstrual cup? •ordinary pads/tampons take 500 years to degrade - replacing with a menstrual cup is an awesome way to reduce/eliminate that waste •saves you money! These cost around the £20 mark and that is the only purchase for many years! •discrete. In these nifty little bags, no hiding your colourful pad packaging running the loo! •less messy! I personally found pads kinda gross haha
I recently purchased an @organicup whilst travelling and
out of the two, I have to say I personally prefer the @organicup for the following reasons:
•I find the silicone to be softer and easier to fold •the organicup does hold a bit more volume which has lead to no leaks whereas I used to very rarely get leaks with the mooncup
•I prefer the shape of the organicup as personally I feel it sits more comfortably, so much that I genuinely forget I have it •the organicup comes in minimal packaging with all the instructions written on the inside of the box
I’m aware there are other options such as reusable pads and period underwear but honestly I’ve been so smitten with my menstrual cups that I’ve never had to look elsewhere. If you use anything else, please do let me other know in the comments it a menstrual cup isn’t your thing. If you haven’t tried one though, I SERIOUSLY recommend you do🧡
I could talk ALLLL day about these things wonderful inventions so if you have any questions let me know or I could even make a more in depth video if that would be helpful. Much love 💕🌞

CARBOHYDRATES are the main source of energy (calories) for the body. They are preferred fuel for the brain, nervous system and red blood cells.
Accordingly, carbohydrate-rich plant foods are the most valuable sources of food energy in the human diet.
Eat WHOLE PLANT FOOD like:
Highly processed and refined food because many of their nutritious elements are destroyed.

🗑 I actually created less waste during the month of May. I know, I’m as surprised as you are.
As the month of May progressed & I saw my trashcan begin to fill up, I actually thought I was going to create double the waste I created in the month of April. As you can see in the second image, the waste I made is surprisingly small.
The thing is I actually created quite a bit of food waste, because most of what I ate was fresh, unpackaged foods. Also the packaged food I did purchase is sold in larger quantities & takes longer to finish & throw out. So I wouldn’t be surprised if my dry waste actually increases for the month of June, as that’s when a lot of what I purchased in May will become trash.
A lot of your trash from previous months can overlap into the next month & make it appear you’re either creating less or creating more. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy collecting & documenting my monthly waste. I can look at my trash & see what I throw out regularly & what is thrown out every few months.
For example, the single bottle of soy sauce pictured, I purchased nearly a year ago. Whereas the creamer bottles I throw out at least 2 to 3 bottles a month. Seeing this allows me to figure out where I need to make changes or be more conscious with my purchases.
There’s no way to be perfect when it comes to lowering your dry waste, but you can figure out ways to limit how much you make regularly. This why buying in bulk & buying fresh foods is so important. Not only does it save you money in the long run, it also limits how often you create mass amounts of waste.
It’ll be interesting to see what my waste will look like next month. Will it be more or will it be less?

A beautiful reminder from @circularcathy
WHENEVER YOU DOUBT:
your own resilience, capabilities and strength,
look no farther than these plant cuttings
for inspiration and guidance.
They’ve been severed and broken into pieces,
forced away from their “home”
or their “mothers”
Yet time and time again
without hesitation or thought
they root and reroot
to ground themselves.
The law of nature teaches us
that you can pick yourself up
to start over again and again.
And that you can belong anywhere,
wherever that may be,
if you just have some faith.

Did you know I drive a Prius? (GASP! an environmentalist with a car?!) 🚗
LOL okay I don’t think it’s that surprising.
Around 90% of American’s own a vehicle & our society has largely been built around their existence.
This has lead to the majority of our transit funding going towards that infrastructure 💨deep breath💨
Whew, okay. Now that we got that out of the way… why am I bringing this up? Because I want to talk about your CARBON FOOTPRINT!
Another thing that is seemingly inevitable in modern society.
There are greenhouses gases associated with everything we do! The transportation we take🚙, the food we eat🍎 , the electricity we use⚡️ect.
But if I told you there was a way to offset those things… would you do it? SURPRISE, there is way! [Okay excuse me being a little cheesy in attempts to make life cycle analysis exciting]
I’ve partnered up with @goclimateneutral to offer 3 of you a FULL YEAR of carbon offsets for your entire carbon footprint 👣 (details below).
That might sound complicated, but it’s actually super simple.
- Head over to @goclimateneutral
- Complete the survey to calculate your footprint
- Set up your monthly offset accordingly!
And BOOM! Each month you will be contributing to climate projects certified by the Gold Standard and that align with the UN's sustainability goals.
Alright, alright. So how do you enter to offset a year of your carbon footprint? Simple.
1.) Like this photo (obv)
2.) Follow @shelbizleee & @goclimateneutral
3.) Tag someone who loves mama earth🌎 (each comment is a new entry so tag as many eco warriors as you’d like)
(BONUS) Head to @goclimateneutral, calculate your footprint & let me know your results in these comments!
I’ll choose 3 winners & announce them in my stories on Friday!

A lot of you are new here, so let me reintroduce myself. My name is Kristen. I teach yoga, and enjoy any and all forms of movement. Personal integrity is everything to me: being honest, being responsible for our actions and impact, and mostly having fun doing it.
I am consistently aware of how my choices effect the world at large, other people, and the places we love on this earth. I hope to shed a little light on the small things we as individuals can do to make a difference for ourselves, the planet, and future generations.
I offer one on one coaching to create an action plan based on your values to help make a sustainable difference in all areas of your life: from mindset, fitness, food, and daily actions.
If you consider that every person on the planet reduced one harmful action in an area that was interesting to them, well that’s about 7.8 billion less trash, children making clothes, unsafe labor conditions, animal cruelty, GMOs and harmful pesticides, and so forth.
I’m not asking you to change all those things—that’s my job. So when we discover what you’re interested in, there is a thoughtful and well constructed action plan as to how you can also make a difference.
Maybe you tell some friends, and they join. Maybe you suggest some people to this page, and they create a different habit that has a beneficial impact. Maybe by changing one thing, one person at a time, we have the possibility to change the world at large.
This page is dedicated to the exploration of sustained living. How to move, eat, travel, consume products and goods while leading a life of integrity and virtue. To create harmony within ourselves and the world around us. Stay tuned 🌬🤍✨
