Today was tough. I was requested to take part in a focus group to offer insight on how and when to reopen my oldest child’s school which is a charter school. It felt so unreal listening to parents, teachers, and staff sharing their different opinions and perspectives when ultimately we all want the same thing; to keep everyone safe. I felt more unsure and confused about my own opinions after the meeting. There are no simple solutions and not everyone will be satisfied but ultimately a decision has to be made. Other children from our community public schools are headed back back full time next week.
What are your hopes for your children for this academic year? What has it been like in your area? #teacher #backtoschool2020 #educationmatters #distancelearning #learningathome

in the middle of the first week of professional development • thoughts, questions + worries circulating in my head... but weirdly, I feel a peace • I trust that I am where I am supposed to be because at the end of the day I believe in the importance of teaching • this keeps me sane, that + my lame humor 😜 what is keeping you sane during this time?
I don’t talk a ton about my Cascade Method Training Program on this NoteMatch IG but NoteMatch happens to be a HIGE part of my program. It took me 4 years to put my whole training program together, and I am constantly adding more content to it, the list will never end!! But what I want to share today is one of those videos that’s in my program.
The very first book I ever created was my Piano Theory book, a book geared to teach theory from the very beginning of lessons all the way until your student leaves you for college. That book became the base for my training Program. I created hundreds of theory videos showing how I teach all these theory concepts to make them all accessible to young kids from the beginning. Theory is SO IMPORTANT and if kids have some basic knowledge of these concepts, it makes their life so much easier when learning pieces!
Anyway! Here’s an example of a video of how to figure out which keys or scales have “x amount of sharps.” There’s the traditional way to figure this out, but I came up with my own method, which seemed to work really well with young kids (which is when I start to teach theory). See if it resonates with you too!
One last thing! I ran a summer promo for my program, offering an entire month for free. The code “1MonthFree” gives you an entire month to browse through my entire program.... no commitment needed! Just browse around and see if it would be beneficial to you 😊 Link in bio 🤗🌟

This picture was taken at the end of the day, and my dead eyes can tell you how it went: rough. So many problems. So many technical difficulties. So many dojo messages. But the good news is... we can only go up from here.
Today is the day we figured out all the stuff that wouldn’t work (aka everything). All I can do is learn from it and do better tomorrow, right?🤷🏻♂️

Each day since I’ve returned to work, has been so stressful 😔 From opening a new school 🏫 , meeting the staff outside of my team, and figuring out how to do online learning again 👩🏻💻 - it’s too much 😫 What I’ve learned to do during this time is to just take small steps 🦶 and do the best you can. Once you’re able to check ✅ that off your list, it FEELS good doesn’t it? 🥳 Take a moment to soak that feeling in before moving on. ❗️Just remember: NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO DO ALL OF THIS RIGHT NOW! 👏🏼 And that you are NOT alone ‼️ It’s going to be an “off” year and THATS OKAY! 👌🏽 Give yourself some slack. I need to remind myself of this too 😅 Have you been super stressed and anxious too?

✨ We love these down on the farm acivitites for children in Early Years. This is a great workbook with a whole range of activities.
🍏 This collection of farm activities for young learners really is fantastic. This is great for children who are in EYFS or for children who are at the early stages of their reading and writing. There are a collection of activities with a farm theme to build on their pencil control, their counting and the knowledge and understanding of different farm animals.
Putting the love in learning 1 download at a time. 💚

👋🏼 Hello! For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Mackenzie. I’m not used to showing my face around here because I’m usually too busy obsessing over the books, but I figured I would take a minute to tell you all a little about me because I never have in the year and a half I’ve had this account!
✏️ I am a high school English teacher going into year three.
📍 I have lived in NJ all my life (except for four years of college where I fled to PA)
🌎 I love to travel and experience new places! I can never just pick one favorite trip/place, but I’d say my top three are Paris, Amsterdam, and New Orleans.
🍿 I live for salty snacks (goldfish, chips, popcorn, Cheetos) and have been known to finish and family size bag of Smartfood in one sitting.
📚 Few things in life make me happier than reading and I don’t know where I’d be in life without my passion for books! I’ll read almost anything and am open to everything, but I have a special place in my heart for anything YA.
📖 I think the most wonderful thing about reading is being able to learn about people’s experiences that are different than my own and I am the strongest believer in books developing empathy, which this world definitely needs more of!
A big thank you to @eastnash.teacher for creating such an awesome sweatshirt! I knew I needed it the second I saw it.
Also in regards to the language on the sweatshirt, I would love to direct everyone to @elementaryedventure ‘s post from a little while back about what the term diverse really means and how it should be used versus how people tend to use it. (I will put the post in my story for reference) It helped me realize I made mistakes with this word in the past and I thank her for this post and am grateful to have come across it so I can be more precise with my language moving forward! So please read her caption and then listen to the sweatshirt!!
Now I’d love to hear about you all - whether we’ve spoken before or not, leave a comment letting me know something about you! 😊

Anni ♥️
