Happy birthday to my adventure girl. Luna is 24 months and loves to roll in the dirt, sleep until noon, splash at the creek, and cruise with her head out the window. She hates to eat vegetables. Here’s to another year filled with snuggling momma while camping and exploring the trails. ❤️

Is there good that comes from not having “it” all? Andrew and I just decided to buckle down to reach some important financial goals and the timing is hard as Christmas is around the corner.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what good comes from not being able to get everything you want when you want it. One of the biggest things I can see is that it certainly stretches us to be creative and inventive. I know that Andrew and I would not have built our own teardrop trailer had we had the money to buy one. I’m so glad we DID build it though! Think of the skills we learned and the confidence we grew because of it. That’s just one tiny example.
If you’re like us and feeling a lack this season, I challenge you to see all the good that is coming from it.
My new mantra —> Nature is not a place to visit. It is home. ~ Gary Snyder
When your someday plans (and no, we are definitely not there yet) include becoming a nomad, you find yourself contemplating what your definition of home really entails. Until my recent transition into empty-nesthood, I had never thought of anything beyond my brick and mortar house as my home. Moving forward, I will be adjusting my mindset. Our home will remain the same wherever we find ourselves sleeping alongside each other, although our view from our windows and the front door, will change dramatically. It may sometimes be the desert, the beach, the mountains, a city, a place to work... but it will always include adventure, Mother Nature, explorations, new discoveries and a place to connect with each other and our friends and family. Here’s to re-defining one’s home, goals, life and dreams one day at a time! Baby steps.
