We’ve been hibernating from the cold but I’m thinking we can’t hide indoors for the next three months; it’s not practical. Onion rings just don’t postmate well. Going to have to brave the cold if I want these cravings satisfied. Bundle up, mama needs something deep fried.
I want to encourage someone who needs to hear this today. Maybe this is for you:
You’ve been struggling with that nagging negative inner thought committee trying to remind you of x, y, or z. Usually, it’s a mistake or a past struggle that is replayed in our minds in order to paralyze us, or cause fear, in moving forward. Well, I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have any more power over you than what you give it. You don’t have to be a prisoner of your past or even struggles that you may be facing right now.
But here’s the catch: YOU get to decide your outcome.
You can begin to change your future with the decisions you make RIGHT NOW.
What are they? Write them down on paper. And find a mentor/ accountability partner to help you move forward with the next steps.
The only difference between yesterday and tomorrow is what you do today.
Tag or send to a friend who may need this reminder ✨ 📸@ashleystreff
So. I hosted a scavenger hunt as part of the exhibition. The Q people had to answer to enter the drawing was this: which artwork has no embroidery or gold leaf? .
There were actually 2 pieces. But this one on the right, Margaret, was one of them. How appropriate a Margaret won the drawing too! I’m sending her one of my limited edition prints. .
There are only a total of 25 and several have sold already. This is the ONLY edition I plan to make.
Want yours? Check it out in my profile or here: https://www.carriebrummer.com/anonymous-woman/limited-edition-ruth/
No one got the answer right 😂😂😂
So I will eat my Lunch my self 😋😄

Super proud of this latest book RHS ‘Flora’ an illustrated history of the garden flower. A special commission for a customer wanting something for her art loving gardening friend, this was perfect but super challenging! Always happy to have conversations if there’s a particular book you want or theme that’s not covered in my Etsy shop.

I ugly cried during my work out today. It wasn't cute. I only have one week left and and it's been quite the ride. .
You see I started this feeling really low. It doesn't matter what happened - what caused my low might not be what caused yours, but low is low, am I right? I knew that I was either going to stay low or I was going to do something about it.
I went into this KNOWING it was going to change me. I think that's key, you have to LET it change you. Anyone can press play, but not everyone gets this experience. What's the difference?
In my opinion, it's your mindset. It's how you show up. I drafted up a few steps that I think will help if you are looking for something extra in your life :
1. You have to do it. That shit does no good to you on a shelf, on a kitchen counter, or in an app on your phone you don't open. You have to actually do the work out. You have to actually follow the meal plan. Just buying it doesn't get you anything other than the ticket in. You have to get on the ride.
2. Follow the meal plan. Did I already say that one? The real meal plan, not your half ass version. Like all of it.
3. Tell other people you are doing it. It is easy to quit on yourself. As women, and mothers, we are used to being at the bottom of our priority list and you have to stop that. Tell someone else, actually participate in my group, and TELL other people you are doing this. We will do things for others we don't do for ourselves. Tell someone.
4. Leave the "buts" at the door. BUT it's Thanksgiving. BUT I have to work. BUT I have this party to go to, BUT it's hard, BUT I'd have to get up early, BUT I'd have to give my wine at night, BUT I'm tired. This is all just stuff you tell yourself to keep yourself small. It's all bullshit because there are people with LESS doing MORE. If you really want it, you have to check your "buts".
5. Have fun. Get a fab playlist. Invite your spouse. All the Energize. I feel like the playlist is the most important of this step.
My goal is to give this experience to everyone who does a program with me. I can't do these steps for you though. Start at step one. You have to get on the ride and I’m always just a DM away. 🙏🏻

Creating moodboards is actually one of my favorite parts of the branding process. So much so that I don’t only create one for each client! ⠀ ⠀
But what for, you probably wonder. This is a technique I learned from @mybilliedesigns and it works so well! But let me explain: ⠀
Before I create the moodboards I create a brand strategy, that’s based on my client’s questionnaire answers and my expertise. I look at their ideal audience, their business goals, etc. to get a good feeling for our creative direction. Now this is the part where the moodboards come in. ⠀
No matter how clear your strategy is, there is always room for visual interpretation. That is why I create 2-3 moodboards and try to make them as different as possible WITHIN the boundaries of the brand strategy. Think about it. There are a million ways to interpret a single word in different ways. If you gave 10 designers the same strategy you would still get 10 different interpretations. ⠀
So me trying to create 2-3 distinct moodboards challenges my creativity right from the start because I can already explore different ideas without designing yet. ⠀
But the best part is that it helps my clients to figure out what they want. They are not designers, so they don’t need to know design jargon, but by showing them different possibilities it becomes so much easier for them to pinpoint what they like and what they don’t like. And believe me, knowing what you don’t like is so so helpful. ⠀
Do my clients have to choose one? No. We can pick and choose ideas from both. The moodboard I shared in my last post is actually a merge of the 2 I originally presented. In the next step we refine the moodboard until we have one clear direction that both me and my client are confident in! ⠀

Want to get in the Christmas spirit but don’t know what to watch? 🎄🖥 For #Blogmas day 3, I’m sharing a roundup of the best Christmas movies you can stream! 🙌🏻
Click the link in my bio to check it out! 👩🏻💻
What’s your favorite Christmas movie?? I think mine might be Elf! 🎅🏻
This thought keeps coming up - the waiting that’s wrapped up in advent and the anticipation of Christmas.
God was quiet right before the biggest breakthrough the world has ever seen.
Silence. 400 years worth of silence.
I’m not sure about you, but I struggle when God SEEMS quiet for a week, let alone radio silence for 400 freaking years.
Yet that’s when Jesus arrives on the scene - after waiting and waiting and waiting.
Why didn’t he show up earlier?
I don’t know.
But God knew the timing & every last detail of how he was going to fulfill the promise that started back in the garden.
Now, we have access to that Promise. We get Jesus. Now & forever.
So if you are waiting for a breakthrough or a promise from God to be fulfilled remember:
• We have Jesus. Let’s not minimize the beauty, power, and wonder of that.
• God isn’t late. He knows what he’s doing in your life. He knows when to give you gifts, not just what to give. You can trust him.

When two worlds collide… My heart could EXPLODE! ❤️ In fact, this may be one of the BEST collaborations to date. I have the incredible opportunity to partner with @lyft and the amazing @markusmolinari to provide a #giftfromLyft
This year Lyft is giving 12 local non-profits $2,000 ride credits and they have given me the honor to choose a non-profit of choice. Can you guess what non-profit I chose?! That is right! The @ymcasd will be receiving these credits to support our various programs within our @ymcayfs programs. Thank you Lyft for being an incredible partner and giving our young adults the opportunity to drive to interviews, get groceries and so much more! #lyftgifts . @ymcayfs provides direct service and support to over 15,000 individuals in the San Diego County community each year. They provide behavioral and mental health services, family support and preservation, transitional housing and youth & young adult development. 🧕🏾👩🏻🦰🧔🏻🧒🏽👩🏿
